I know, I know. We are about to leave an artifact focused set that has been in standard circulation for almost two years: Kaladesh. So why play an artifact deck now when there's gonna be far less artifact support in the format? Well, a little card named Chamber Sentry was spoiled and it peeked my interest. So far, its reception has been "meh." And I've heard all the comparisons between it and Walking Ballista. Trust me, it is no Ballista, and I don't think Wizards intended it to be. But I also believe even Wizards may not know what purpose this card serves in a multi-color card format. It feels like it was just thrown into GRN as a placeholder. But for what it does, it does pretty good. So, what the hey, let's see what a deck centered around this guy might look like:
Sideboard pending. I went Grixis with the build because I wanted to be able to add removal to the deck if need be. Also, Bolas is a powerful card worth playing, so I threw him in as well. Fountain of Renewal keeps us alive because of all the damage we take from our shocklands and opponent. Longer explanation of the deck to come later.
Hey there, I'm also building an artifact centric deck since I used to play UB Antiquities War. Chamber Sentry is very good in the late game and I've already finished opponents by repeatedly burning them with it.
I like the Voltaic Sentry tech you got there.
I do think you need to streamline your idea a bit more. I'll leave you my list, perhaps we can work on tuning the idea to be more competitive.
The idea is to go hard on Antiquities War goldfish, basically hold your artifacts until you can get a Sai down, and then spam them to get a lot of Thopters either before or the turn after you cast Antiquities War.
Duress and Phyrexian Scriptures are necessary pieces of interaction to either clear the path or to snatch a counterspell of any kind of enchantment removal to protect Antiquities.
A card that I haven't tested yet is Lazav, the Multifarious, seems pretty interesting to copy a Sai in your graveyard to have more iterations of the effect or even as extra copies of Sai.
I'm also thinking that going UG will be a possibility especially when Ravnica Allegiance arrives, since we'll have access to Breeding Pool which can allow for a build with 4x Llanowar Elves.
Figured it was time to update this deck now that RNA has been spoiled. I've been looking at the new artifact support we received from RNA, specifically Dovin, Grand Arbiter and Depose // Deploy. Both cards are good in that they provide card advantage and help us develop a board presence even more than before.
