I have been testing this deck for a couple of weeks now, and finally yesterday I went 2-1 at standard showdown so I finally decided to release the decklist, however I still need to change 2-3 cards in the main deck because I think they will make the deck much faster, for now this is the version that I played yesterday.
First, let me alleviate some of your concerns, should Lyra Dawnbringer be in this deck...yes, she should but I don't own any and don't plan on purchasing any in the near future. Same goes for Mox Amber, I would test running 1 or 2 of these in the deck but I don't own any and don't want to buy any for this deck.
The deck works fine once it gets going, I lost the first round last night because I kept a 2 land hand and only drew 1 more land in the next 4 turns so I couldn't cast much and in the second game the opponent had the nuts draw and just got the perfect cards each turn.
I won the next two rounds beating a U/W Approach deck in round 2 and a mono-black deck in round 3.
I will make a couple of changes by taking out 1 Neheb and playing 1 Traxos, Scourge of Kroog in the deck since all the creatures I play are "historic" and most of the spells are legendary as well.
The sideboard is a bit of a mess but basically, there are cards to deal with Scarab God decks and Lyra Dawnbringer, and also against control I will try to destroy land or try to get GPG to resolve and then get some creatures to attack every turn.
Let me know what you think!
The deck works pretty well, it's not fast but it uses cards which no one expects and of course, it has a lot of advantages when facing specific decks such as mono-Black or mono-Red decks due to the amount of removal in the deck.
One of the best plays was on turn 4 drop the land then cast Danitha for 3 mana and Blackblade for 1 mana, then the next turn equip danitha and give her +4/+4 or if you drop another land +5/+5 and watch your opponent freak out. With this play on turn 4 it basically makes the opp have to kill her the next turn or take massive damage which gains me life, or block and lose whatever creature they are blocking with.
I have also won by equipping Kari Zev with the sword and beating down hard because the opp only had 1 creature and couldn't block her due to menace, so she made short work of him along with her pet monkey.
It is a very fun deck to play and usually the opp will not know what to expect so they will make a lot of mistakes when playing against this deck, also noted is that Verix on turn 4 is very strong, he can block and trade with Glorybringer, and once you hit 7 mana having two 4/4 flyers can be game over in the next turn.
I have updated the deck after playing a couple of local tourneys and have jumped into a third color by adding black mainly for a couple of main deck cards but also for some help coming in from the sideboard.
I'm still working on the sideboard obviously, but the deck went more aggro due to having 25 creatures main deck now and fewer spells. to I tried it with some spells but with only 22 creatures it wasn't working fast enough and sometimes I was stuck with spells in my hand but nothing on the board to equip.
The deck has even more synergy now due to Hope of Ghirapur being able to come down fast and be equipped with the sword. I thought that Sram would not do much but he does help draw a card here and there even though there's only 2 equipment and only 1 Vehicle main deck.
Let me know what you think, I will continue to work on this deck because I think it's an awesome idea and a very good chance to make legends playable in Standard.
I took this deck to a local tourney this past weekend and went 2-1 with it. I lost to a G/U tempo deck because he got turn 1 Llanowar elves and turn 2 Steel leaf champion both games and all my early guys are small so I couldn't block it and also I couldn't draw fight with fire both games in the first 5 turns before I died.
I played the list mentioned in the post above but after this tournament, I decided to change a couple of cards in the main deck and in the sideboard so this is the updated list.
The deck can get a pretty fast start and a turn 2 blackblade reforged puts the opp on a clock no matter what creature it equips on turn 3. They have to answer the creature or the artifact ASAP so it has won some games just due to its power, and the deck can also get quite grindy in the midgame
