I'm completely new to the standard format and I would like to start attending regular fnms without breaking the bank. any tips and suggestions are more than welcome and very much appreciated. The main idea of the deck is to out value my opponent and control them long enough to swing in for lethal with Tempest Djinn or go wide withMurmuring Mystic
as the deck is a control build with lots of instants and soc Pteramander is probably the best creature for the deck along with [c]Murmuring Mystic
/c]. id drop the tempest djinn and 1 omenspeaker and go
4 Murmuring Mystic
4 Pteramander
3 omenspeaker
It all depends on how competitive you wanna be.
Right now you have to think about teferi, krassis, drakes and curious obsession.
Can you beat these?
Teferi: I think you have enough pure countermagic to stop him. You might need another way to kill them because they will handle that many creatures pretty easily.
Krassis: Yea, you can handle him. They will gain life and draw cards, but as long as you counter the sweepers you should be able to go over anything they cast.
Drakes: This one is super tough for you. They are going to be setting up their side at pretty much the same pace you are. Their bombs are just SUPER bombs compared to the mystic. Niv Mizz single handedly kills you. Only two deep freeze leaves you with a pretty tough task of getting him gone.
Resolved Curious Obsession:I just dont think you can win with your mainboard. They only have a few targets for the hard counters, so you will never stick a mystic or a djinn before you gone.
You really only have 6 cards in the deck that someone needs to deal with to make you unable to win the game. I agree that Pteramander is an absolute must if you are playing blue spells at this point. The card is a boss early and is a ridiculous topdeck late game.
I only worry that you are trying to do nearly the exact same thing as mono-blue tempo but slower and less effectively. So you are going to run into the same hate that they do w/o the ability to get in front of it.
3 Tempest Djinn
4 Omenspeaker
3 Murmuring Mystic
Instants
4 Opt
4 Radical Idea
2 Chemister's Insight
4 Unexplained Disappearance
4 Syncopate
4 Essence Scatter
4 Spell Pierce
2 Wizard's Retort
2 Blink of an Eye
20 Island
2 Disdainful Stroke
3 Dive Down
2 Sentinel Totem
2 Deep Freeze
4 Capture Sphere
2 Tezzeret, Cruel Machinist
i would drop tezz from sb, instead i would run 2 sleeps as they basically give you a couple of extra turns to sort stuff out
a few upgrades
Essence Capture > Essence Scatter
as the deck is a control build with lots of instants and soc Pteramander is probably the best creature for the deck along with [c]Murmuring Mystic

4 Pteramander
3 omenspeaker
Blink of an Eye will generally run better than unexplained
i would also run a play set of Wizard's Retort or Sinister Sabotage
1 or 2 copies of Precognitive Perception are probably worth running
1-2 copys of Memorial to Genius
Nezahal, Primal Tide is solid against control matchups and is probably worth a sb slot
1-2 copies of The Mirari Conjecture in the mb could also add some more staying power to the deck
i would add 2-3 copies of mission briefing as they are superbe dig spells and utility to get the right counterspell ect
finally if you have some spare money Entrancing Melody would be a solid upgrade, as it provides some solid permanent removal
