After checking out Amonkhet, my friends and I decided to make some Budget Standard decks for multiplayer gameplay. We are starting out using only Amonkhet cards. I really like cycling, so this is what I came up with:
The game plan is fairly simple: Cycle cards early on, then Drop Archfiend of Ifnir and let the cycling take over the game by killing all of your opponent's dudes. Scribe of the Mindful Lets you get back instants and sorceries like Sacred Excavation and Final Reward to get your creatures and other spells with cycling back, letting you slowly grind your opponent's resources away while preserving my own. The deck is a little janky considering we are starting with only Amonkhet cards, but this is how I plan to advance it when adding in other Standard cards to the mix.
This is a much more streamlined version of the deck, boasting all creatures and Ever After to get maximum value out of your creatures after you cycle them. Haunted Dead and Advanced Stitchwing allow for some graveyard recursion and discard potential to combo with the "Cycling Matters" cards, alongside Forgotten Creation. Like I said, Pretty Budget, but it seems like something I could give a try.
I like Forgotten Creation plus Shadow of the Grave. I wasn't sure on the balance of noncreature spells, though, or if it'll work at all. I might have a chance to test it tonight.
Here's what I brewed up last night. Obviously I haven't had time to test it other than just drawing through to see how it flows. It seems to keep a pretty steady clip, with me dropping an Archfiend on curve rather reliably. The mana stays consistent and even with an Archfiend and a couple of snipers on board it doesn't stagnate. Obviously im going to see a lot of attrition through removal but like I said this came together just recently. Let me know what yall think!
