Okay so Player A plays Llanowar Empath which says “When Llanowar Empath enters the battlefield, “scry 2, then reveal the the top card of your library. If it’s a creature, put it into your hand.
So does this mean that you scry 2 (pull two cards from the top of your deck) THEN show the top card which would be the “third” card and if it’s a creature put it in your hand or does it mean scry 2 then put the creature and top of your deck and reveal it and take it?
701.17a. To "scry N" means to look at the top N cards of your library, put any number of them on the bottom of your library in any order and the rest on top of your library in any order.
Which means that you look at the top 2, put 0, 1, or 2 of them on top and then the rest on the bottom. Then, reveal whatever the current top card is. If you scried 1 to the top, you will reveal that card. If you put both on the bottom, you reveal the "third" card. If you put 2 on top, you reveal whichever one you put on top of the other.
EDIT: Also, this should be in the Rulings forum located here
