As the title states, why is Gideon's Intervention not a thing? Takes care of Tyrant, Hydra, even the red legendary land. This thing is expensive, but is so flexible.
Please help, what am I missing??

P.S. I'm new to standard but played MTG for 21 years...
First off, Ixalan just released so you just named two cards that just started seeing play yesterday.
Second, even when the card was released the top decks weren't playing white. The ones that were played Gideon, Ally of Zendikar in that spot and also would rather just Fumigate everything.
TBuzz, thank you for the insight, it's appreciated! I mentioned those cards due to heavy discussion on how to deal with them, specifically. I'll keep my ear to the ground, thank you again
Another issue isn't just how quickly specific cards can run out of control, but entire archetypes. Against BG constrictor maybe you name walking ballista and fold to a gigantic longtuak cub...
It's a great card, to shut down specific strats but you gotta know what you're targeting. Hazoret, approach of the second sun, torrential gearhulk...all great targets. Pirates? No good targets because the creatures are just fast and all very samey.
Yeah basically. It requires a specific board state or knowing how your opponent boarded, or else you're going to look very silly with a card that does nothing to effect board.
Against midrange there are better control cards and choices that are more flexible. Against aggro you're staring at multiple threats and a four mana enchantment is a waste of space.
There are WAY better spells to cast at 4 CMC, Settle the wreckage, Cast out, Ixalan's Binding those are better options on white alone. I'm pretty sure each color has even more 4 drops that are better than the intervention.
I definitely think Gideon's Intervention is a good sideboard option currently for some U/W/x control decks. It's tough for most decks to interact with and can completely wreck some decks that rely on a few key spells, like Approach of the Second Sun or Torrential Gearhulk or Carnage Tyrant. I'd try out 2 in the sideboard of any slow-ish White deck.
I like Gideon's, I run a copy in the sideboard as part of a package with 2 Cast Outs and an Ixalan's Binding. I think 4 of is a ton. I'm not exactly sure it's where you want to be...
