Now I stopped playing standard a few years back but like to brew decks when new sets come out for fun and have noticed that red has a much larger than normal amount of usable removal.
Now I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing every color needs its time to shine but red normally only hates on one level of toughness creatures at a time, normally 2 or 3. At the moment red can kill anything at 4 or less very reliably and has one card to hit at 6. The cards to hit at 4 and 6 are both sorceries though.
The larger point I'm getting at is the number of cards any deck has thats in red at hitting 3 and under toughness creatures is staggering. Two 2 damage spells at one mana, Three 3 damage spells at two mana, fork damage spells and wraths on 1,2,3 and 5 damage. Shock, Lightning Strike and Hungry Flames also go to the face.
Below are all the spells I found that could be used even some of the fringe ones.
You're tardy to the party my man, Mono Red has been a thing again for the last two months and looks to be as strong after rotation. It's also been the premier removal color for quiet some time too.

Mono red is literally the reason I started playing standard within the last few months. This is mostly due to all the great mono red cards in Amonkhet block and whatnot.
