A few years ago some dude in Fargo murdered our weekly Pauper every week with Burn. So in short, salt is the reason. To expand: When I played against him I knew I was going to get board wiped and then he'd just chill a few turns waiting for the seemingly free win. I also remembered that the meta was almost all "creatures as a win condition".
Between remembering that Martyr was a huge tempo play/set back, I did some research to see if it made sense compared to the other big decks in the format; a few flier decks, but everything seemed to look like it was in order. Now I needed a slot. Turned out that Marauder was the worst of the 2 mana cards (according to my logic, at least) and it conflicts with Martyr. Easy swap. Goldfished the deck for a few weeks, started to recognize when I was leading into a T3 kill, also recognizing when I was leading into a T6 kill. Felt right, stamped for approval.
