For all non US players: event start would be 1 h earlier in your local time! Sry, it's really complicated.
So, I think it's best to start 1 h later, anyway! This way nobody misses the event through the early start or because he is still playing Tribal.
I change the start now
OH it's so confusing! US players will start 1 h later 4:30 PM EST, all other players will start at the same local time as usally!
Deonmag, I'm trying to squaring the circle(=achieve the impossible) here :-). I want to do something special at the special event, but if we change the rules for the decks( add a special format or restriction) players must build new decks, which afford time and work, perhaps money for new cards, but at least that they think BEFORE about it( it would be too late on day of event to make a deck, if it was forgotten before), all reasons why less players could come.
So, I was thinking of changing the event structure for something unique, that was never done before. Which of course has risks, because it was never done before. Basically your playing experience won't change much, but it could be nice to know, that if u win 'this match' your team is ahead 1 match, or that you then equalize with the other team. I'm still open for improvements or new ideas, how we could make the 'team element' even more interesting
I might try to get into this, I just have to build a 100 card singleton deck in what 2 days? Should be easy

Great! We are always eagerly searching for new players.
We will have a special event on April, the 23th, celebrating the birthday of our marvelous sponsor, Oscar!
The exact rules and regulations have not been defined, yet. The poll about making teams will close tomorrow night.
We definitely will have extra prizes!
My official vote is no team event. If we're being democratic can we vote to allow OGW cards in the tournament? I think it makes no sense to ban them just because Gatherling doesn't recognize them. Every other event on gatherling simply allows you to comment the cards in. The legality of the deck can be checked manually and it's very easy to do that in this format.
Edit: I just found out there are even some older cards that were never entered into gatherling and therefore it doesn't recognize them. This is utterly absurd, unacceptable, and indefensible. There is no timeframe for when the new sets will be added, for all we know OGW will NEVER be added. The spoiler for the new set is already out and we have no idea when they will add the OGW cards. At this rate we could be waiting years to play the "new" sets. There is no reason for this whatsoever.
Damn I'm really sorry I didn't make it in time, something came up last minute.

Oh, yes there are reasons. When you say every other event is using comments, that might be true, but S100 is really special here. I have Tribal decks, that have only 9 or 10 different cards, same for Heirloom or other formats. By the option to have 4 copies of a card, I would say most decks rely on 'consistency', so more than 16 different cards in a deck are unlikely. So it's easy to replace a card with 'darksteel relic', although the experience from my last years of hosting is, that 60-70% of players do NOT place the 'real' card name in the comments. However, so, we(S100) have at least 60 different cards, assuming there are 40 basic lands. If there are lots of special lands, it could be 80 or more different cards! That is not even close to any other format! And just practically, when we allow a complete set, that could mean 10 or 20 cards must be 'commented' into a deck. If there are even 2 sets allowed, that would be absolutely wild. We had 15 players today, no way I check dozens of 'commented in'-cards. Let's pray that the 'automatic updater' Longtimegone promised will finally work. If he also fails to enter the sets manually in the future, we do have a problem.
I think you are exaggerating how hard it would be to check. It would take very little time if you just use search with ctrl+f to verify that the card only appears once. Most of the time it's just one or two new cards that I can't use anyway. Yesterday I tried registering a deck that uses many new cards (since that seems to be the only way to find out if they have been uploaded!) and even then it was only 11 cards that weren't recognized. At this rate I am not optimistic that the new sets will be added in a timely manner and I think it's bad to ban cards just because of that.
I don't like how Darksteel Relic is a placeholder for everything. I think placeholders should be the same color and type for stat reasons. So if you want to use Chandra, Flamecaller then Tibalt makes a lot more sense than Relic or Vex.
I have read some lists in other formats where players put Relic in their list but don't actually comment in what they're doing instead. What do we do in that scenario? Take away some of the prize? Take away the trophy but let the player keep the prize?
That being said this delay is unprecedented. I think if longtimegone hasn't updated the list by the time SoI is online, we allow for commenting April 16th. I'm not sure how often hosts cross-reference decklists with the games anyways.
There are several facts or 'problems' overlapping here.
We don't have the S100 filter anymore in MTGO, so the legality of a deck is not checked automatically by the program itself: Only the Tribal and Heirloom events have the same problem, but as I said earlier, players use just 9-15 different cards there in their decks, not 60-90, like us. So, the situation is really different for S100.
All my activities in the last weeks and months had one goal, to reach new players. WE, the S100 community, must be able to be found. And if we don't spread the knowledge about this fabelous format, nobody else will ( at least at MTGO, in the 'paper world' the supporter base is much bigger). That's why I made some videos for Youtube and asked you for the Facebook page( btw, Thank you very much again, RobertZdar! I hope you add the links for the 2 videos and a text line: Big special event with extra prizes for everyone on April,23th)
I don't want S100 to become the biggest community or regular events with 30+ participants, but a regular base of 15-20 players would assure the necessary buffer. Summer is ahead, and will traditionally 'borrow' players from MTGO.
Now back to my point: We want new players. You are an experienced player, who maybe doesn't remember, how complicated the usage of gatherling was at start, how many things you had to do for the first time. I'm sure not all are tempted to join the event, when somebody reads the description for it. Of course, we old stagers export a deck from MTGO and enter it in Gatherling in 2 min. But, somebody who doesn't know, where all those options are 'hidden' could make a lot of mistakes, even with direct help. So, on the one hand we want to discourage cheaters, by harsh measures, on the other hand we want to make it as easy as possible for new players to join us. That's why I think this is the best solution: 'The easiest way to check the legality of cards: Enter your decklist in Gatherling to register. You can unregister or edit deck until event starts.
Any illegal card will be named in RED
A new player can check his deck easily with one click, without checking each card 'manually' via the ban list.
Commenting cards in, makes all more complicated( of course, not for you as an experienced player), and leads to the problems Sensei pointed out: I have read some lists in other formats where players put Relic in their but don't actually comment in what they're doing instead. What do we do in that scenario? Take away some of the prize?
Therefore, I would like to stick to this principle.
And here is a summary about the special event and the rules:
1)We make Sea and Sensei ( the 2 champions with the most event wins) captains, then they choose after another next players. The other events, I guess, would have problems to determine the 'captains' of the teams. We have several strong players with good placements, that also won a few events, but Sensei and Seaandrhythm are far ahead. While Sensei still has far more event wins, Seaandrhythm was more successful in the last months. So, I think that's equal.
2) All games one vs. one. Team 1 vs Team 2. A player collect VP'S for his group, beside the personal VP's.
The order of games: Captain vs Captain, 1st choice vs 1st coice, etc in 1st round, then moving up the board for 2nd round (and for the next rounds): Captain vs 1st choice, etc. . After the end of the team phase, the (left over) players of the winning team have play offs inbetween themselves. Only the winning team gets prizes.
3) That's why I'm considering, to give any participant 1 tix as consolation, who played at least twice in a Chainsaw Massacre event this year( so newcomers must come again:-) Because their personal fate is depending on the team fate. It's like a door prize for everyone!
4) If more than 8 players per team, teams must drop the player with lowest VP, starting after 4th or 3rd round. Top8 playoffs.
5) I agonised about an odd number of players in event but have not found an acceptable or fair solution, yet ! The only solution I came up with, I must step back for an even number, but I must admit, that I want too much to be part of it, and not just watching:-)
So for now I plan to keep thinking about the details and prepare the rules, and if we are an odd number of players on the 23rd, we put the idea in the drawer, and try it again next X-mas. Instead, we would just make a traditional extra prize event.
Thanks for the great summary! Interesting statistics. I knew that you were still leading, but 3 times the victories as the next...! Incredible! And that only 4 players won more than 3 times in the last 18 month. I also didn't expect RDW( Red Deck Wins) so far in front. And '5c midrange' (5 colors) won quite a few events, so should may be listed in the deck statistics at the end, too. If at all, then it's only an archetype for the S100 format, hence it got no fancy name like 'Azorius' or 'Sultai' ;-)
For the newer players: Frugal was a special format, S100 with the Heirloom price cap.

Tribal is based on Greenwich Mean Time, which is unaffected by Daylight Saving.
November to February, Tribal began at 12PM Standard time ET and 100CS began at 3:30PM EST.
Now that Tribal begins at 1PM Daylight (Summer) time ET, that means that 100CS begins at 4:30PM EDT. Is that correct?
I updated the starting post 2-3 days ago, you may have missed that.
