I don't know what this had to do with my original post. Anyway, banning a card only for a specific deck is weird/unfair. Decree of Justice should be allowed for every deck, I doubt it will impact the format. The ban list for Heirloom atm seems clunky and unusual. I was with the format when the bans occurred and I still don't understand the reasoning fully. It seems a ton of mediocre cards (Griffin/Decree etc.) are banned while overpowered cards are not. I can elaborate as needed.
I had to look at the banned list to see what griffin was banned, and now I want to know what deck caused this. How is Misthollow Griffin broken in any deck that's not food chain? Food Chain is clearly not in this format... why is this banned?
</blockquote></blockquote>
Misthollow Griffin was banned in an Heirloom CawBlade deck. It was a "fair" deck which used Squadron Hawk to fill up your hand and Empyrial Plate as the primary equipment to pump it. Misthollow Griffin enabled two powerful interactions. The first being Manipulate Fate, which in conjunction with Misthollow Griffin was tantamount to drawing 4 cards for 2 mana. The second being Moorland Haunt, which enabled you to exile Misthollow Griffin from your gy, and replay it from exile. These interactions were slow, fair, and easily answered by Pithing Needle. The deck was moderately weak to combo and agro but it decimated control. Everyone back in those days loved playing control so it became banned. Kinda silly now in light of the fact that legitimately broken cards such as Cloudpost and Goblin Lackey are allowed. I don't want Cloudpost to be banned but I want consistency. Don't allow broken cards but ban fair cards just because people win with the fair cards. When I was playing every week it seemed as if whenever I had a winning deck cards in that deck would get banned, regardless of whether those cards were legitimately broken, or whether I had just designed a good deck and played well.
EDIT: On the other hand, I can manually check these "found cards" at each rotation, because I know how cards like Lightning Bolt, Exhume, etc. are important for Heirloom archetypes. I will create a list of those special versions that people found to be cheap and in stock and I will manually check them each time when creating legality list. I just won't be updating the lists in the middle of rotations anymore. So, what I said above still count, I will just add an exception that I will create a special list of "non-regular-version" cards that people have found (and will find in the future) and I will consider this list of cards every time I will create a legality list.
Can you check Thran Dynamo when you make your manual checks? It used to be legal, but the legality checker is telling me it is not currently. There are multiple printings including a FTV and a prize printing from the cube. I just happened to notice it when checking a old list I built before the last rotation, or maybe even further back. I think Lightning Greaves may be cheap enough too, I'm not sure the limits on these things, but if you're including the cube versions in your price list, hopefully you won't actually have to manually check these.
I hope people don't take this the wrong way. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks there are some issues with fairness for Gatherling events. There are some lack of rules that people seem to purposely take advantage of and that's what I get upset about. I understand the fun aspect and that's why I think this should be brought up. People joining games at the last minute for one is annoying unless they take a bathroom break or something. If you need to be afk, let your opponent know!
Today's Heirloom event had a couple last minute registrations that were more like 5 minute late registrations. My bye would have been eliminated, but after I signed offline in disbelief gonz was penalized for my actions. I'm really sorry for preventing him from playing the top 8 rounds.
Byes are huge for records for these events. I suggest there should be an official registration cutoff time that doesn't affect byes. Currently when there is no extra opponent the late-comers get the loss, but when someone has a bye the late-comer takes that bye-win away from their opponent. That doesn't seem right to me.
I'll be having several schedule conflicts in coming weeks, so this rant may just go to waste. I'm curious if anyone has had any similar occurrences?
Aside from my prior rant, Deonmag has brought up that he has schedule conflicts for longer lasting Heirloom events because of his time zone. Anyone have ideas on how to shorten the total length of Heirloom?
My suggestion would be to have double eliminations up to a certain round and then repair matches for top4 or top8. Lordpipas suggested to try a 4 round top 4 for larger player numbers, so be sure to comment if you oppose his idea as the host. Should there be a change?
So i'm thinking of building a deck for this my question is the New rotation that see mentioned a few posts ago going to be this week? I see multiple cards in the top 8 of last weeks event that are now overpriced is why I ask. Bloodbraid elf and Baleful Strix for example both are now $0.60 uncommon and 1.5 dollar rare. So before I build a deck i'd like to know if the legality of certain cards are going to change in the next week :).
also a few other cards I see that won't be legal once a new list comes out Pithing Needle and Relic of progenitus are almost 3x more expensive than the cutoffs. So just wondering when the new list comes out cause I'd rather wait then build a deck now but I look forward to joining the fun and already have an old favorite deck of mine from years past in my head :).

Hi Usual,
The rotation will be today, I talked with Mihahitlor and he will post the new list here.
I am waiting for this to create the next event in Gatherling.

I need talk with Berlin about this point but, I think:
- Less than 16 players -> 3 Rounds and top 4
- More than 16 but less than 20 -> 4 Rounds and top 4
- More than 20 -> 4 Rounds and top 8.
Alright, the new list is finally up. You can see which cards are legal by looking at the spreadsheet or by using Heirloom legality checker. I haven't done Rotated in/out list this time. I know it's an useful resource, but I just don't have time to spend so much time on all this stuff 4 times a year. It takes me approximatelly 4 hours to do everything, which is 2 working days each year for a format that I don't even play anymore. So I have to say that this is the last time I am doing the rotation. I can help a person who will take it from there (be it host or some player) with what to do. If you will want to be doing the rotations in the style I have been doing, you will need Excel or some other similiar software for filtering data.
I hope there won't be too many complications with the transition.
(PS. Oath of Gatewatch and Legendary Cube Packs don't work on Gatherling yet, so use placeholders instead).
Thanks so much for doing this work and keeping us going.
Chainer's Edict from VMA is 4 cents, but it's showing as an illegal card when I try the legality check.

Hi Miha, thanks for all support
I will do it in the future, so i will need of your time I have Excell; Acces; or similar soft to do that.
I will make a single exception here and add those two cards, because it was a sudden spike and now they are both well under the limits. But those will be the only exceptions (I have no doubt there are lots of cards that were legal last week and not legal today, and vice versa, so it wouldn't be practical for me to keep adding "missing" cards :))
It is the list of the cards that rotate in (maybe it havent 100% of the cards - i did it in my work :P).

I will update the spreadsheet this weekend with the rotate out too!
Would you mind also putting the current ban list in that spreadsheet? I'm not sure if ML_Berlin is still maintaining the list in the OP of this thread, and it would be nice to have everything in one place. The main reason I ask is that Dark Ritual shows as 'legal' in the checker, but shows banned in the OP, and are we still doing the weird thing where two white cards aren't allowed in blue decks? (Swords to Plowshares and Decree of Justice)?

Yes, i will do it too. The list of banned cards is the same:
anned Cards:
Hypergenesis
Misthollow Griffin
Sword of the Meek
Tendrils of Agony
Zuran Orb
Counterspell
Dark Ritual
Blazing Shoal
Worldgorger Dragon
Swords to Plowshares( allowed in non-blue decks), use Darksteel Relic as placeholder for Gatherling, write in comments which card it substitutes
Decree of Justice( allowed in mono-white decks)
Necrotic Ooze
Goblin Piledriver
Wall of text from someone who used to host odd format PRE for alphabot many many years ago and experienced similar issues with card legality at times).
I guess since its MTGO traders only prices then I can see it and rules are rules but sounds like the rules need to be 100% set as I see from past pages there were some flexibility in the past to squeeze cards in. this individual card is a case of MTGOTRADERS being lazy about repricing promo cards (not that I can blame him because with hundreds of thousands of dollars of cards in stock changing a random promo card from 1 cent to 3 cent's would take more effort to spend 1 minute and honestly result in a negative gain since if i'm buying from traders and I need a LB i'd probably see 0 in stock and buy another version of LB for 50 cents making him more money)...
If Traders changed his price on LB to 3-5 cents instead of 1 he would have 100 copies sitting on his bot because every other bot sells it for 2-3 cents and maybe this is something that should be looked at for future rotations or maybe all promo/Box set cards should no longer count for legality and only real set print versions be allowed because there are other cards that only squeek in because of underpriced promo's versions. Again this is something that should probably be brought up with the community as a whole and something that maybe should be voted on or such before the next rotation in 2 months. As for now it sounds as if a ruling has been made. But again sounds like a case where a set in stone rule should be formulated before the next rotation so that this issue is never ran into again in the future.
Edit in a Ironic Twist Mtgotraders actually raised the price from 1 to 3 cents in the last few hours and now has multiple copies in stock.
edit 2 and then its sold out again and its price dropped back to 1 cent. I'm assuming what I always suspected that the automated software he uses and certain low cost promo's have a weird interaction at times that causes prices to stay at 1 cent when not in stock but if by chance he gets one it goes up in price till it sells out.

They had a few in stock earlier today as well (as recently as an hour ago), and they are now gone again. They have the same problem with the FTV Impulse. On a related note, I sold all my M10 and M11 bolts and bought premium deck ones. They look better anyway.

Thanks for working on this.
My suggestion would be to have double eliminations up to a certain round and then repair matches for top4 or top8. Lordpipas suggested to try a 4 round top 4 for larger player numbers, so be sure to comment if you oppose his idea as the host. Should there be a change?

This version is legal for a long time...
Can you buy this edition in the bots?
https://www.mtgowikiprice.com/card/pd2/17/Lightning_Bolt?foil=true
in a lot of bots, few cents each
check it: http://www.mtgotraders.com/store/search.php?q=Lightning Bolt&x=36&y=13
But i can buy it at this price or less at https://www.mtgowikiprice.com/card/pd2/17/Lightning_Bolt?foil=true lol
