All Is Dust (could this card lead to cloudpost being banned eventually?)
All is Dust has been in the format before (with Eldrazi titans even). It's very strong, but I don't know that it is a ban worthy deck, or even from an all colorless deck. The lands are pretty consistent, but we're going to have a good RDW again. Price of Progress should keep things in check.
I'm interested to see if anyone does anything with Paradoxical Outcome. I might try something janky with that card.
Did the Origins Chief of the Foundry "rotate out" (i.e. the old one got expensive and the reprint is fine)? I noticed a few Kaladesh cards strange in the rotate in/out lists. With Paradoxical Outcome, I wonder if Eggs or Kobolds could be viable. Accumulated Knowledge is a card I've already put in my Sundial deck, should make combo-control a lot better at holding up counterspells/decent instant speed card draw.

edit: why is Chief of the Foundry listed as "rotated out" while also being listed as legal from Kaladesh? The legality checker says it's legal.
well it was legal once your right but it was legal before Farfishere Mono U Post deck was thing. Honestly when his deck won 3 out of 4 tourneys the only way I felt his deck could get better was All is Dust coming back.... We will see how it goes though not many people play the deck because its boring not because its not good so we will see if this boost in power gets more people playing it again.
Hi guys!
First of all, I would like to give some excuses here because yeseterday I played very poorly in more than one occasion but I managed to win because of my topdecks (for example G1 VS Generalissimo, I didn't really deserve that win honestly).
Btw, I'm writing for talking about Burn: that deck is broken at the moment. No way. It could kill on T3 with a good hand and, in many cases, on T4 with also having access to cards like skullcrak and sulfuric vortex that are really good against hate cards that opponents could have. I am firmly convinced that we need to ban AT LEAST two pieces of that deck. Which ones we can discuss on; but really, if we don't want the meta to shift to Burn decks VS Anti Burn decks, I think we need to take an action. Note that banning 2 pieces still leaves a very consistent deck.
i'd give it atleast a week to see how the format shakes out before I was calling for anything to be banned but yeah I said a while back that fireblast might need to be banned if it every came back in.... and then rift/lightning/spike all came in with it...
I mean we come from ceph being the big bad to something new. Burn is slower than ceph ever was so lets see how it "settles" people know now what is coming sunday.. so lets see how it goes first. But without having Leyline of Sanctity it may end up being too strong.
But in the same breath I should have lost to Reanimator I god drew him 2 games in a row and he didn't get a reanimate target fast enough I should lose that match 60-70% of the time... we have reanmiator that can lock you out of all spells on turn 2 if you don't draw a hate card.. last weeks final literally ended with me mulling to 4 for a void in the finals because i had a 0% win chance vs Reanimator without drawing void.. also GW should have a good matchup vs Burn. you drew like ***** both games and I drew godly. Dromoka's command can blowout a burn deck just as bad as that skullcrack blew you out. So idk give it a week or 2 see what happens.
Witchbane Orb is almost a auto win if you can get it down. and especially vs control most of my wins were t5 or later. and green decks have acceleration so definitly that should be the go to SB card unless you running white.
I decided to play test zuran orb a little (among other things)... I don't know if this is a real deck, but it sure is fun.
Edit: Also thanks littlefield for helping me test. I've been hanging out in #heirloom a bit.
Edit 2: I've only played a couple games with this deck, but I've yet to activate Zuran orb. It's probably better in a deck that runs second sunrise. I just wanted it there to help me get over 50 life if needed.
The fact is not that there aren't good hate cards against burn, the fact is, imho, you don't want a deck warping the metagame and is too oppressive on the others. We don't want control having a good counterspell and a good card draw engine to avoid the possibility of becoming dominant: what's the point in having a burn deck so good in a format like this? In my opinion it will harm too many other decks and limits the possibility of brewing.
And yes, we could all play 8 sideboard slots to addressing the problem, but this is the definition of a deck warping a format issue.
Counterspell wasn't banned because it was possible that control would become too dominant. Counterspell was banned because control was practically undefeated for months. Holica's record with the deck stands at 122-17. The whole idea of a sideboard is to warp your deck to be better against your worst match up. It's up to you to figure out if that's burn or not. It's my opinion that we shouldn't ban cards because they are good; we should only ban cards when they are oppressive. Burn is a linear strategy and can be shut down. Having key sideboard cards like Propaganda vs aggro, and Chill or Witchbane Orb vs burn is what sideboarding is about. Sometimes you'll draw a key card, and sometimes you won't, that's just the way burn plays out. I'm not sure what (if any) decks this is going to keep out of the format that other fast decks weren't already suppressing. What is it that you want to play, but won't specifically because of burn?

Oh wait GW had 3 copies in top 4 and a 4th go 3-1 and miss on tiebreakers. META WARPING LETS IMMEDIATELY BAN WILT LEAF LIEGE.
see how dumb it sounds?.... Burn is a turn 4.5 deck without disruption. the fact is I god drew you out both games.... I almost lost to reanimator. I did lost to esper control. I played vs no other decks running any distruption as I got 2 byes (Holika conceded r2 to work on his deck and my r3 opponent never showed)
Black based midrange decks destroy burn... Control decks can beat burn... GW decks can outrace burn if they win the coin flip.
Burn is only a good deck when people do no expect it... Its a deck that should be 60-40 vs anyone game 1 (ON THE PLAY)... and game 2-3 be a 40-60 dog due to even 4x sb cards.. Its like dredge or combo decks in that way... Burn is not cephalid..
What we learned today though is GW based decks are really strong..... as 4 of the top 5 were GW agro decks and the other top 4 was infect GWU....
I was running GWB and 0-2ed but I mana screwed 3 of my 4 games... but honestly hymn is a dead card in a format where everyone is running 4x smiter 4x wilt-leaf anyways..... GW is gonna be a major player going forward and is probably the #1 deck in the format.. now to see if we can find a way to beat it....
If you were around a month ago The #1 card I was most hyped about coming into heirloom was not Burn spells it wasn't any unban it was Wilt-leaf Liege.... and now everyone is seeing why now lets see if the meta can figure it out. or else wilt-leaf might be a card that is just too strong for heirloom in the fact that it makes hymn decks irrelevant.
I for one already know what i'm playing next week but ill keep that a secret for now.

Well, truth be told, you can't judge a performance of a deck that didn't play. There is 1 RDW and 0 Burn in that event.
Still, I have to say that people shouldn't be so quick to judge a card/deck. Give it some time for the players and decks to adapt. We can't cry wolf everytime we see a shadow in the woods. Most of the times is just fluffy little rabbits.
that was my point too with the post... Its not burn against the world this isn't cephalid where it wins turn 2 with you dropping a tap land turn 1.... not to mention people actually realized this week that Dromoko's command is a blowout vs burn... I cause your spell to deal 0 damage and kill your vortex GG... and now that almost all GW/X decks are running it i don't think we will have to worry about burn anytime soon.
Its like my old point I made about legacy IRL.
Force of will is a strong card.
all combo decks in legacy run black and most run 4x duress 4x cabal therapy because of Force of will. Does that mean that force is bad for the format? No it means that it keeps the format in check both ways. Combo has to slow themselve and run removal therefore keeping the format from being turn 2 combo vs turn 2 combo...
If burn is good enough people will swap out cards slightly to adjust.. If that means dropping 4x swords to plowshare for 4x dromoko's command Thats a small price to pay for a GW deck to run 4 cards that are slightly weaker but all but guarantee a blowout vs burn if you draw it. That is the nature of metagaming... Its why you see me sometimes run cards that no one would ever think to run. because I build decks trying to beat a metagame... Sometimes it works out (2 wins 1 finals in 3 tourneys) and sometimes it doesn't (0-2 sunday) I'm glad to see other people starting to metagame with all those GW we don't lose to burn and were good vs everything decks at the top.
It was pretty clear everyone expected a red menace and just built the obvious deck to beat that and hymn. This does show that red is clearly not oppressive, even the red players opted out under the immense scrutiny . WOuld like to see some real decks using the combo cards that rotated in, if anyone wants to strategize me and my son have been working on the obvious ones.
This is likely incentive for me to return to Sundays. I will voice dissatisfaction in not being allowed to play in different PRE, while others have been doing the same in my absence. And for the players who are double dipping, it is being noticed.
Likely have a top 8 for season there locked in, so dont mind bringing the heat for TLWB/GG back.
I brought this to TLR and he said for now we are going with the list mtgotraders list of Thalia, Heretic Cathar. That is almost assuredly a mistake though, the 1w version has been .40-.60 for months now. The Heretic Cathar I bought in at around .85 as a low, and it hovers 1-1.25 pretty regularly. It is a big card in the mirror GW matchups, so expect it for now and be ready to rotate them at rotation. I know my WW deck really wants the Guardian of Thraben to give it some game vs combo.
I decided to continue to respect the rules of PRE this weekend. I was knocked out of the elimination by a host unwilling to let a final cut be established, and he went out of his way also delaying his own matchup in top 8 by over 10 minutes to "call" every name on the list until the 12th ranked player at the end of swiss (a losing record overall) was given the 8th slot and mtgo did its thing mana flooding me out of the tournament.
I only bring this up because I followed the rules, and it is annoying to have hosts actively manipulate the tournament standings. While this was going on I did not participate in the overlapping heirloom tournament, because that is against the rules of this tournament. Jeopardizing my place in the final 16 tournament is a choice I made, one with the integrity of the game in question. If we allow participation in multiple PRE or with multiple accounts in the same PRE, I would like to also get to play by those rules and have them removed from the front pages. If not I would like for the rules to atleast be passed along to all participants in the event and after they are clear to be followed.
There wasnt a precedent in my other event for them to just call up every one down the line and find me an opponent. Here there is a precedent that we do not play in another PRE at the same time. I didn't know that at first, but was asked to adhere. Either the other people that are still doing that haven't been given a link to the rules on page 1 of this thread, or they are being allowed to follow them as/when they see fit.
For clarification this is the second paragraph post 1, I would like a repeal of this rule OR strict adherence to not only multi Qeueing but multiple accounting in the same PRE event.(yes the 2nd is much harder to enforce):
"All players will be required to upload their decklists there. Players without a legal deck list entered in Gatherling at start of event, will be dropped by the system automatically.
Double queuing is not allowed. Any player caught playing in another PRE while playing in a Heirloom event will be disqualified from the Heirloom event."
Thanks

Hello Glenn,
Thank you for contacting us. Unfortunately, I cannot reverse any trades for you. All trades with other parties are final.
We are, however, aware of the issue with Dream Halls and are working to fix it. Thank you for your patience in the meantime.
The above has been reported. Currently Dream Halls doesn't really work on mtgo. I had spent a few weeks building a sweet Dream Halls brew up, and learned in testing the hard way.
So don't invest in this card unless you are trying to buy it while cheap and hold until the card is fixed.
Bringing this up because it was on a handful of cards I was really excited about rotating in this time around.
Now I guess I can figure out Birthing Pod and friends.
In other news, I decided to start compiling deck performance stats for the format. It's not very useful yet because of the lack of data but it should hopefully be helpful to have some solid numbers when we're discussing the metagame and whether something needs to be banned.
As an announcement since there was some discussion previously, Mana Bloom and Mind Bend are both bugged for the worse, Mana Bloom adds no mana when counters are removed, and Mind Bend can only change land types, even if only color is mentioned. I've reported to customer service, but in case anyone else was brewing jank with those cards, they should hold back to save tix.
I was wondering when rotation happens for this format? There are a few cards I want to use that are saying "not legal" on gatherling, but the price is less than the criteria. Deep analysis, parallel evoluation, ect. And is there a central place that we use to communicate? Such as discord, or facebook? Thanks!
With a new year and reflection, I want to say how happy I am that we unbanned some cards and as I had assumed they had almost zero impact on the environment. I hope that this leads to more in the coming rotations.
Hope everyone has a safe and happy end to this year, and as much success as you are willing to make for yourself in the coming year.

I agree on cloudpost looking to be a problem. And dark ritual while super fun cant be in right now. we have a near working storm deck and with ritual it is busted. not ideal.

Anti-burn that's playable is pretty easy to sideboard into if it's a bad matchup.
