_Kumagoro_ , the host of Tribal Apocalypse has more or less the same problems, as I do.
So we are facing the imminent prospect of having to use the Legacy filter or Freeform, rather than the S100 one. What will that entail?
We won't be able to tell if our opponent's deck is really a legal S100/Highlander.
How do we overcome this issue?
Mostly, by trusting each other. But also by enforcing harsh, brutal rules against cheaters. And I'm talking about IMMEDIATE, PERMANENT BAN FROM ALL GATHERLING PLAY to whoever is caught taking advantage of the missing filter. This will be clearly said before every event, of course. But there will be no mercy.
There are cards, that search opponents library! A quick snapshot of the screen (first enlarge the space for the library cards), and you have the proof.
So,I think we are on the safe side.
Sounds good overall, but while we're altering ban lists, I don't think Grindstone needs to be banned (nor Entomb, but I'm not objective on that), especially if we're going to have DT banned. The Painter-Stone combo is only a little easier to pull off than Helm of Obedience-Rest in Peace for example and that one beats Eldrazi, too. Also, to be clear, MTGO Highlander is a 100 card format as well?
In my opinion, Demonic Tutor is very clearly superior to Imperial Seal, which is banned. Personally, I think Demonic Tutor is better than Vampiric Tutor but I can totally understand someone preferring Vampiric.
I think you are right about both Grindstone and Entomb but I would like to keep as feel changes as possible. It's easier to remember Highlander list + D.T. than Highlander list + one card minus a second and third card.
Regarding the low number of players last time(just 10), I prefer regular S100, so we may not lose anybody for not having a Heirloom deck. If we have 14-16 regular players again, Frugal Friday is also an option, again.
Please, change the starting post, so all will know.
Now, we see the disadvantage, that I didn't start the post
However, we had a lot of changes recently, usally a starting post change maybe once a year.
Oh, and another reason for the low number of players may be the start 1 h earlier!
PLEASE, if anybody would like to join, but can't because of the 1 hour:
Post here! We only changed it because nobody rejected it.
After some trying and discussion, I think Vintage is the best filter for us! SB has up to 15 cards, and we can use those cards legal in S100 ,but banned in Legacy.
Highlandermagic.info only changes their banlist twice a year so would just institute our own banlist. In my opinion, the earliest we should do this is January 2016 if at all (other opportunities will be the release of Oath of the Gatewatch and CMS #3.01). In fact, if we were to make a change the CMS series we could even change the minimum deck size to 60 (or 80) to attract players with a smaller collection.
The reason I think we should hold off is I think some of the following players currently have 100CS decks but would not build a Highlander deck:
Apart from CMS Fridays a few of us play Highlander in the Just for Fun room. Seaandrhythm and I have been slinging Ponders and Sensei's Divining Tops at each other in casual matches. RobertZdar said he would build a Highlander deck too. So if anyone wants to play Highlander casually, unrelated to the Gatherling event, add a Brainstorm and/or Top to your deck and message me or S&R.
OK,I will leave everything at it is. We just keep playing our format!
I don't want to learn a new ban list and just have no time for new decks. We were just 10 last time, why alienate more players? Especially, lowering the number of cards is absolutely no option for me! How can you expect players at all for a 80 card highlander in JFF!?
I think we have now a higher responsibility than ever, like the tribal event for the tribal players, we are the last resort of the players of this great format. So, I would really recommend, you rather offer S100 games with Vintage filter in JFF, and if somebody joins with an unfamiliar name, explain PRE and CMS for them.
I want to collect those now isolated S100 players and be a stronghold for this format.
If there is a 'Facebook afficinado', who would like to open an account like the Tribal one, please post here and do.
I'm not using Facebook.
There is a new anonymous survey from mtgo(in the messages after login)! There are several questions, where you will be asked about your satisfaction with variability of play and formats and finding opponents. I expressed my deepest dissatisfaction there! The survey itself is a good thing, as we can submit our opinion. Bringing back an pre-existing card filter is not at all impossible, maybe after an somehow alarming result in certain areas of the survey...

I didn't even realize at first that those tutors are banned while DT is legal. What a strange banlist.

The old time wasn't really good for me and this one still isn't, but I'll try to make it when I can.
Again just 9 players
I think we should move the event to Saturday or Sunday, I know ( and met in JFF) several S100 players who can't play Friday and/or that time. Until now that collided with my Heirloom host activity, but I have to give up some events, because I'm exhausted. From Friday to Sunday, EVERY weekend,is just too much on the long run.
So, let's vote what would you prefer: Saturday 3.30 PM EST= 21.30 CET( after Tribal Apocalypse) or Sunday 1PM = 19.00 CET
Additionally, you may add if one of the days is impossible for you.
I think it makes sense to do Sunday as Saturday would be competing for players with Heirloom.
Would it be crazy to turn 100CS instead Modern Singleton with mythics banned?
We might be able to get players to play Sunday Heirloom and no-Mythic Modern Singleton back to back. (Granted it won't be a cheap format with Tarn legal but at least players won't feel compelled to have Wasteland/Force of Will/Liliana/Goyf)
On both days there is heirloom! I don't know, if the new host will move Heirloom to 4 pm, which would be the earliest time to do both on Sunday. Saturday can't be moved, otherwise overlapping with Tribal.
I'm convinced, that at this point, it is crucial to keep the S100 format as it is! Again we were just 8 players! By moving it to the weekend, I hope we can attract more old friends of S100.
If it'S now 80 cards Canadian Highlander,100 French Double-Fist or Gangbang 69,that won't help us to get more players at all! I'm absolutely sure, that instead we would lose half of our players.
Even that S100 had existed in MTGO for 10 years, didn't mean that it was wildly known! With those exotic formats you propose, we would practically introduce a completely new format in MTGO, that nobody knows or would have a deck to play. If we are back to 13-15 players, we can vote to make special events, like Frugal Friday, Gangbang69, or whatever.
No way, that you finish Heirloom in 2.5 h, even 3 h is very ambitious.
I won't start S100 at 22.00 CET on a Sunday, this is again a very bad time for Europeans, probably worse than 22.00 on a Friday!

What if we allowed players to double queue Heirloom and 100CS on Sundays? So:
12:00 EST/1800 CET Sunday Heirloom (You host, mihilator or someone else is backup)
3:00 EST/2100 CET Sunday 100CS (I host until BaneBoi returns, you are the backup)
I guess to clarify Sunday at 3pm est would be fine during an event discussion an earlier time like 1pm was mentioned and that would likely not work for me :/.
As a new player to S100 (I've only played casual games vs ML_Berlin) I am a little confused by some of the items on the ban list... Mind's Desire is too strong, but Tendrils of Agony is not? Thirst for Knowledge is banned? Strip Mine is banned? These seem odd to me. Anyway, I'm brewing decks and excited to give this a try next Saturday. Also interested in a Facebook Group if any one has taken the initiative to make one.

Yes, it's a 100C format.
Is CMS #2.05 Heirloom or the regular ban list?
How do we feel about letting players "comment in" Acquire, Bribery, and Hide/Seek for Heirloom (Earwig Squad and Praetor's Grasp are already legal)?
Please, change the starting post, so all will know.
