'Mtg choice' is a game variant of mtg inspired by Dandan. I had the idea to challenge myself to craft a game within a game as a Christmas present for my brother and what best to base it off of than the five colours of magic. I searched for cards that would allow for many interesting interactions and have only play tested this in my brain so could be completely broken ('Harvest Mage', 'Swirl of Mists' I'm looking at you!). I'll be playtesting this around Christmas once the cards arrive and will update the list if certain cards are broken or unplayable.
Rules
-The starting player draws.
-Each player starts with 20 health.
-There are six individual decks in play that are controlled by each player, one containing all colourless spells and lands
and the five others for each colour. 50, 24, 24, 24, 24, 24. (Numb of cards in each deck)
-Each player begins the game with five cards, one randomly selected from the coloured decks.
-Each player still discards down to 7 during the discard phase.
-All cards go into a shared single graveyard but if an effect returns a card to a library it goes to its designated coloured
library. (red cards = red library... ect)
-Exile is shared with every colour and colourless card.
-If a card tells you to draw a card or at the beginning of your turn you draw it from the colourless deck.
-Each Player begins the game with a single basic land of each type except 'wastes'. (Mountain, Forest, Island, Swamp, Plains)
-If an effect forces an opponent to interact with their 'library' treat it as if it said 'libraries'. (this affects the
ruling of scrying as you can now scry for each library)
-If at any point you choose a colour you draw from the deck of that colour. ('choose a colour', 'colour of your choice',
'add one mana of any colour', 'Change the text of a colour word' (in doing this you are choosing a colour))
-All other rules of MtG?
Card ruling change
-Acidic slime cannot target basic lands/ basic lands have 'hexproof' and 'indestructible'.
-While 'Sleight of mind', 'Spectral shift' and 'Swirl of mists' change 'colour words' of spells and permanents only, this
ruling now changes the decision a player makes on a targeted permanent or spell to that colour as well. (choosing a colour
counts as a colour word on that spell or permanent)
-In this case the player casting the targeted spell would draw a colour card of the player who cast the targeting spell as it
resolved with the changed colour. Note lands adding colour of any type and previously chosen colours on permanents are
unchanged.
Optional Rules
-Each deck has sleeves of its corresponding colour (grey for colourless), Each player can then access and know how many of
each coloured cards each other player has in hand. Plus its easier to sort out before and afterwards!
Future
-Add a system for multi-coloured cards.
-Increase the number of cards per deck.
-Add variety/ different number of certain cards per deck.
-Multiplayer in theory could work but some cards would become even more broken so adding a list for multiplayer could work.

This is my first attempt and completely rough attempt at creating a subgame within a game so may be completely unplayable but I believe the decision making and high level plays that can be achieved using cards like these are worth exploring.
I tried to keep the budget friendly as I was actually going to purchase these cards so I'm sure I missed some great inclusions that unfortunately had too high a price tag, I am a student after all.
