So I've been kicking round the idea of a magic variant based loosly on Hearthstone.
Deck
Each player has two decks: A land deck, which has at least 10 lands; and a spell deck, which has at least 30 spells. No more than two of each non-basic card, and only one of each legendary creature or planeswalker. Each player can have no more than 10 lands in play or 10 cards in hand. You cannot play or draw if you would go over the limits.
Cards
Starting hand: Scry 3, then draw 3. No mulligans.
Draw step: Each player draws one card from BOTH their land and spell decks. The player going first skips their first spell draw.
Drawing cards outside of the draw step: A player can choose which deck to draw/scry from.
Emblems
Each player chooses an emblem from the below list. On the turn that matches the CMC of your Emblem (so turn 3 for Coalition Relic etc), you put your emblem into the command zone for free. Cards in the command zone cannot be interacted with by the opponent in any way. Emblems can only be activated on your turn and are:
I feel that the emblem list is a bit unelegant. How about changing it to Planeswalkers then you could also incoperate color identity to match the class spesific cards in HS.
So a few quick questions, can you attack the opponent to the face directly like in hearthstone? And if you can, what will replace taunt so you don't take endless amounts of damage to the face? And how would cards that have tap effects work? (aka Covenant of Blood)
Brimaz, King of Oreskos is strong, but since it's a legendary creature, you could only use one of them in your deck
Also, my friend mentioned that maybe you could put a god card in the hero slot, and each turn you could pay 2 mana to activate the god's passive ability for 1 turn. Just an idea
I can see how Jura could be useful, so if you had no defenders (taunt), and you have some creature you needed to keep on the field, you could use Jura's ability to force the opponent to attack you (give yourself taunt)

Either that or use the WoW TCG mechanic and allow those creatures to "tap to block".
