Here's my idea -- a constructed format where you can bring any 40 card deck that was ever officially registered at a Wizards limited tournament. If you can find it on Wizards' or another website (subject to verification), you can run it. Sideboard is as listed, if available.
Advantages are the huge number of possible decklists and potential for rogue "designers" to bring something completely unexpected. Also would provide a neat way to balance power across multiple blocks throughout Magic's history but still get to play your Tempest shadow-aggro draft deck versus someone's Invasion 5 color control, and would generally be a very budget-friendly format.
I kinda like the idea. I wonder about bannings though. Do you get to play that Mirrodin block decklist with artifact lands even though they're banned in block play nowadays?
Maybe...Mirrodin would definitely be on the watchlist but I wouldn't necessarily do a preemptive ban until a metagame emerged.
Also wanted to add that one of the attractions in my mind is that if you ever drafted a really, really good deck that you got attached to, you could bring it to a tournament and see how it stacked up against other draft decks, not necessarily from the same format.

What do you guys think?
