I just started this week as well, but I'm starting with the Magic 95/96 variant since I just don't have enough of the old cards to play strict 93/94. Just going through my old cards has been a lot of fun, the nostalgia is real! I started playing myself back during Revised/Dark.

I'm fairly confident I will think of something to say. Active Player: 1994-1999, 2016-
This is what I'm currently running. Playing a lot of casual and multiplayer, I'd tighten it up to go to an event.
No sideboard other than a four-pak of Disenchant.
My biggest surprise is how effective Yawgmoth Demon is. 6 power with first strike takes out everything in the air. I find that feeding it isn't too much hassle.
I'm convinced that someone saw your deck, got drunk and decided that Tetravus was a great investment. Just FYI, this is not a reserved list card, it was a couple of dollars yesterday, and this morning people are asking $40. There's a 4th edition printing of this card by the way, and FBB versions are still under $1. Sorry if this is off topic, I just found this graph amusing. I'm sure it will come back down, though it may never be a $2 card again. There are cards in Antiquities that deserve a $40+ price tag, but I don't think Tetravus is one of them. This may also just be someone trying to scam through PucaTrade. Anyway, if anyone was thinking of buying Tetravus, wait for the price to go back down.
There's an Antiquities Tetravus on ebay for $1.25. I wouldn't pay more than $2 for one. That above listing is
serious bull****!
I agree, I really think someone just bought them all out. New listings are showing up on TCG Player and undercutting each other already, so it's a race to the bottom. I don't want to get sidetracked on card prices but I found it amusing as it's not really a highly competitive or necessary card for the format. The "spike" seemed really random.
I'm convinced there is a group of Magic speculators who basically circle jerk cards into ludicrous prices out of greed.
This is exactly what is happening. This is not the first time we've seen a seemingly random card that's considered to be "old school playable" simply shoot up in price over night. I normally don't point it out here, because I don't want to feed hype into something that is artificially inflated, but I found this target to be amusing just because it's mostly a jank card, and because someone posted a deck here with 3x Tetravus just days before. This is a card I happen to like and have talked about before, but still total jank. Someone even bought out the graded copies ABU games had yesterday (or else ABU took them offline to wait for the price to settle). If you're looking to pick some up, just wait. Supply will come back and it will be a 'race to the bottom'. The new price will only stick if stores raise their buy list prices. There will probably be some guy trying to unload a ton of these on Facebook. Seems to happen every time.
That CFB article ruins the format by allowing the Mirage frame IMO. It's not the same border and while it's nice, it's out of place. 93/94 should have cards from 93 and 94.

The changes don't bring new cards into the format, they only allow for newer printings to make the format more accessible. Build your own decks with the old cards, and enjoy having opponents to play against. Adding Fallen Empires is actually the biggest difference I see in the CFB version. Having more events/venues to choose from, even if they are slightly different seems like a good thing to me.
I joined the Skype group over on Facebook and got my first Skype games in. My opponent was playing things from Alpha and Revised, and it was a blast. This is my latest brew. (Potato Quality image as required by internet law). Moxes are CE, the rest is Swedish legal.
In testing opposing creature-heavy aggro decks like zoo pose a problem, so I'm considering swapping out the Ball Lightning for Earthquake, or at least putting Earthquake in the board. Thoughts/ideas?
Yeah, it's almost a suicide type burn build, but the damage with Manabarbs and City of Brass does add up. In our play league, Fork is restricted, hence the lone copy. Detonate is a good idea. If I go that route, I can remove the black and remove the Cities.

No problem. Another card you might want to consider is Black Vise. Combined with Ankh you can punish them for holding lands or dropping them. It also makes Wheel of fortune a burn spell.
Hey, do any of you guys play mtg on xmage? id really like to play some 93/94 games but its so hard to find people to play with, barely anyone touches the older formats and vintage

I do not, but I do play on Skype and sometimes on MTGO. Though I recently sold a big chunk of my MTGO collection to buy a paper card so I've been on MTGO a lot less for the past few weeks. There is a vintage scene on MTGO, and it's a lot cheaper than paper, but I only found a handful of people that had built 93/94 decks. (Many cards are missing from MTGO, and others are new border only).

you should consider xmage, completely free, automated, all artowork editions etc.
I am currently building a lord of the pit mono black deck for 93/94 and really wanna test it out but barely anyone plays this format
Yeah, I've never tried xmage, but it has been mentioned in this thread before. I did try untap for a while, but I had the same problem of only finding 1-2 other people who were actually interested in this format. The Skype group really is the best way to get in some play testing if you actually have the cards. They allow Revised edition and newer versions with the original art/frame, and there's usually someone available for a match. Plus you get to actually talk with someone while you're playing instead of having to interact through text based chat. There's even a sub group playing 93/94 highlander.

What is the skype group name?
think youll ever give xmage a try? we could start a group from oldschool players of north america

There are actually two of them, both are closed Facebook groups so if you post in one, your friends won't see it unless they are also a member of the group. It also means you have to join the group to see what's going on.
Old school 93-94 Skype Tournaments - The name is a bit of a misnomer, people just post up that they are looking for a game and usually someone responds and plays. This is just a general group for playing. I've also seen people posting a link to https://appear.in instead of playing through Skype. The concept is the same, but I guess there's nothing to download and multiple people can be in the room.
Skype Mtg Oldschool league - I think this one is intended to be tournament focused. You can join the league and compete.
I might try xmage at some point, but I'm not feeling very motivated to do so at the moment. I guess it depends on how much free time I have. I have glanced at it though and looks like you can run it under Mac OS, which is a bonus. I currently have to boot into Windows to run MTGO... It's interesting that 3rd parties can support cross platform applications but Wizards cannot.
