So it turns out my aunt got on my cousin's case for playing black. She thinks that while the game itself is enjoyable and entirely acceptable, playing the "satanic" color is not. Therefore, my cousin ended up giving me all his black cards. Therefore, I had an interesting idea for a format. Follow me on this, and perhaps you will see:
I call the format 30 Turns of Night. It is essentially a variant of the Horde Magic Format, with a few twists:
1. Only the Night Deck may play Black. The other players (heretofore refer to as the Survivors) may only play the other four colors plus artifacts. In addition, none of the cards the Survivors have in their decks may have black mana symbols on them, nor refer to black permanents specifically i.e. no Lightweilder Paladins. In addition, the Night Deck may only play with the Grixis Colors.
2. The Night Deck does not contain any lands. Instead, the Night Deck operates by counting the number of creatures controlled. The Night Deck Player (heretofore referred to as the Horde) may cast spells so long as the combined converted mana cost of spells cast this way is less than the number of creatures the Horde controls.
3. The game ends if one of the following occurs:
A: The Survivors reach 0 life, in which case the Horde Wins.
B: The Survivors survive for 30 turns.
C: The Horde runs out of cards.
4. The Horde must attack with at least one creature if able.
5. When the Horde is dealt damage, it must discard that many cards from its hand. If it cannot, it puts cards from the top of its library into the graveyard until the number is met.
