I basically built an EDH deck that could do well without it's general if need be. If I'm playing EDH I can make Azusa, Kamahl, or Vorinclex my general:
I would only change a few things. First, I would add Genesis, especially in a multiplayer setting. You'll be hindered too much by removal otherwise. Along those lines, you'll probably want a sac outlet to dodge scary removal like StP. Perilous Forays is the best Green one that I've found, especially in EDH. It really makes using spot on you pointless. Other cards to consider would be ones like:
The deck feels like it's missing some draw and/or tutors. I named a bunch, but maybe Garruk, Primal Hunter or Momentous Fall should be added as well. Horn of Greed can work too, it's up to you.
Otherwise, cut weird cards like Helix Pinnacle. It's neat but not effective. Amulet of Vigor isn't needed either. Stone-Seeder Hierophant seems incredibly slow and vulnerable too. I don't like Exploration, even though you're using Life from the Loam. It just seems pointless to me. You already have Burgeoning and Azusa, Exploration is just weak by comparison.
The reason for Stone-Seeder and the Amulet is to combo with Thawing Glaciers so I can drop all my lands in one shot.
Ah. Has that ever worked out for you? It's a 3 card combo that doesn't even win the game, and you're not exactly great at tutoring for lands and/or artifacts. Basically, is that worth 3 deck slots in your opinion? I mean that's about as casual as it gets when it comes to 3 card combos. I've seen a lot of strong, Green EDH decks in my day but I've never seen any of those cards used. Take that for whatever it's worth to you.
Well, I just put those cards in, but haven't been able to play it yet.
Almost forgot. I've been trying to get my hands on a Genesis for a while now. I wanted to buy local, but I don't think it's going to happen. I'll take a look on ebay.
I really want to find a home for Primalcrux in here - my resident Timmy swears by it as his finisher of choice. Just no idea which creature you'd want to drop for it, as the creature list looks pretty tight.
It's a bad, bad card. No immediate effect, no protection, STEEP mana cost, no synergy with other cards in the deck. Overall it's just weak. I'd gladly use Verdant Force or Multani, Maro-Sorcerer over him in a multiplayer setting. You need something other than big ass in multiplayer.
The deck looks strong, but I think you have some room for improvement.
Stuff I'm not sure about...
- Deadwood Treefolk. His cost vs. P/T may not be strong enough for a green deck, but he is providing you solid card advantage. I'm on the fence with him.
- Darksteel Plate. Is random indestructibility that good? I'm not convinced, this seems like it be better as more card advantage.
- Erratic Portal. On the fence on this one too. Its a great card no doubt, but you're currently only running 7 CIP creatures to really use it to maximum effect. May make more sense to stick around when you see some of my suggestions below...
- Burgeoning. A solid card, but way better when used in a theme deck that can reliably return lands to your hand for effect. After you pour all your lands out it will probably sit their dead for the majority of the game.
- Mirri's Guile. Sylvan Library is likely better, especially in a slower game.
- Vernal Bloom. You are playing a high-percentage of non-basics, which means the chances of this helping your opponents more than you is probably higher than you'd like.
- Life from the Loam. It's a combo-card with no combo pieces (unless I'm completely missing them). Plus, you are only playing 3 lands which get themselves into the graveyard to be able to legally cast it. Seems dead 90% of the time.
- Crucible of Worlds. A bit better in here than Life from the Loam, but not by enough IMO
Stuff to consider...
- As tich mentioned, Natural Order, Garruk, Primal Hunter, and Perilous Forays are all great. The Forays combos fantastically with Rampaging Baloths to get every forest out of your deck in one shot. And as krich and b_d mention, Lifegift and Hydra Omnivore are just downright broken in multi-player.
- More creatures (you seem light), especially more utility guys to take advantage of all of the creature search you are running. Guys like...
- Pelakka Wurm: huge life gain swing and big fatty.
- Duplicant: One of the best MP cards ever, would be the only thing in the deck capable of dealing outright with a creature.
- Brooding Saurian: meta-choice if you group plays a lot of creature-stealing, which would be a huge problem for this deck.
- Tornado Elemental: one of the best ways for green to deal with flyers
- Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre: Vindicate on-a-stick is never a bad thing.
- Spike Weaver: Watch out, this thing generates hate.
- Verdeloth the Ancient: The tokens this thing is capable of producing is amazing...but it may be best in a global haste deck.
- Rancor: A ton of stuff in the deck would benefit from it. If you'd prefer a creature, go with Brawn, which should be easy for you to get into the graveyard.
- Dust Bowl over Strip Mine. More expensive, but in a slower MP environment (and a deck with tons of mana) its a lot more dangerous.
- Oran-Rief, the Vastwood: If just for Primeval Titan its worth it.
- Boseiju, Who Shelters All: Same concept, protects your bomb-spells (especially Momentous Fall and Green Sun's Zenith)
- Mosswort Bridge: This thing plays way better than I expected. Pretty easy for a deck like this to pop, but best with Amulet of Vigor.
I like most of your suggestions, and I actually have most of the cards you mentioned (except for a few, like Natural Order ;)). Anything I don't have I added to my buy list.
I do want to make a comment about Burgeoning. I run Cloudstone Curio in this deck precisely to take advantage of all my land drops. Though I do have an Exploration I could put in. Do you think that would be better?
I think I'll leave the Erratic Portal in for now, especially after I pick up a Duplicant and Spike Weaver.
Mirri's Guile was in the deck just because I thought it was a little faster than Sylvan Library. Easily switchable.
I thought I was running enough forests (28) to warrant a Vernal Bloom?

Defense of the Heart is a 2nd Tooth and Nail at 4 mana. Primeval Avenger team assemble!!!!!!!!!!
Natural Order is Godly, especially with all of your toolbox creatures.
Crop Rotation, much like your Titan, is insane in EDH.
Lurking Predators might be useful, especially in multiplayer.

I get great value from Lifegift, Tornado, and Squallmonger in my MP green decks. Not sure what you'd give up for these, though.
Cheers!
