We have a guy at my FLGS who has started bringing a Type 4 deck to drafts and standard constructed tournaments to play inbetween rounds. It's really awesome to be able to play for 5 minutes or so while waiting for the next round to begin or what-have-you. He has about 600 cards just in a big stack, all sleeved up, in a large box, and he passes them out randomly to each person playing.
I was just wondering if anyone had suggestions on a good way to get started on building a Type 4 stack or something like that. I really want to build my own as the guy who brings his isn't there much of the time. Any thoughts on how best to begin a deck for this casual game type?
You're talking about two distinct but related concepts.
A cube is a self-constructed limited environment which you craft to fit your own power level preferences, but is still played like normal magic and drafted like a traditional booster draft.
A Type4 stack is a collection of cards typically rochester or rotisserie drafted for use in larger multiplayer games without any mana restraints.
If you're looking for advice on T4, this might be the right place.
If you want to make a cube, we have a dedicated subforum for Cube in the limited forum.
Just got to say, you've definitely earned distinction as an MTGS hero

Because he's the hero MTGS deserves, and the one it needs right now. So we'll global him. Because he can take it. Because he's not just our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. An expired rascal.

I actually don't know that much about Type 4 and I did misspeak in my last paragraph by saying cube. Thanks for pointing it out for me =D
I am actually looking for Type 4 information. We don't draft them, though. He just splits the whole stack into many smaller stacks and passes them out as decks. We each then draw 5 cards and 1 card per turn playing 1 spell per turn with infinite mana.
Where I would start is reading Steven Menendian's T4 "Invitational" recap. It is an entertaining read that shows you what a high-powered T4 environment can look like (high powered in that many will not run cards like azorius guildmage or legacy weapon for power level concerns--I personally prefer Menendian's approach, but it is worth knowing)

Good Links to Read (I very strongly suggest them):

Daily MTG article on T4 and also a complete list of the stack I described above.
