We're getting ready to start organizing a Time Spiral Block Constructed tournament. I was wondering what the current decks to beat are with PC in the cycle.
I'm working on BG control right now. Damnation clearly promotes Black control to be a top-tier deck, and I thought Green would be a better match for the strategy than Blue or Red. White is also appealing, for anyone that wants to try that out.
Green aggro is already big thanks to the Scrybforce thing, and it's only getting bigger. MGA may surface soon, if it hasn't already. GR also looks pretty decent, using the Green aggro frame with some burn and early dudes from Red.
Some kind of Blue aggro could easily be built (;);)). There's some decent removal in Blue (oh how weird that sounds), and the Invitationalists (Jon Finkel and Kai Budde) kind of want to be played at some point.
I'm currently working on BW and it's pretty good. I think that there will be various BX Control decks that will be tier 1. I also think that mono colored aggro will be tier 2 (in W/R/G/B) (maybe tier 1 for W). I don't really think blue will be as big because of the lack of decent counters.
Cancel i actually more than strong enough, and quite a few decks play Mystic Snake and/or Dismal Failure. The counters are strong enough.
As for tier 1 mono colour it seems the mono red deck is solid enoug as it just won a premier event. It's a bit early to say if this is symptomatic, weird results happen all the time, but I believe it's strong enough to put up a fight.
Apart from that I believe controll is strong in this format, having lots of card draw available and mass removal in several colours, and hence I think one has to be able to beat it in some way if one wishes to compete.
