Block Party is a format where you bring a deck from any block. What do you guys think I should choose to play? I'm not really that into block so if you guys would help it'd be great =)
I played in a block party match earlier, i just threw together an urza block RB sneak attack deck. Very fun. I played against a masques block rising waters deck which was obviously a big contender. It used free counters like thwart, foil, and daze, draw like gush and some other stuff. I got hated out from the Sb with energy field and bribery meant to coutneract goblins and tooth and nail. I'd say that would be a good deck if you are looking to be competetive, but if you just want a fun deck, i can post my sneak attack build for you to see.
The best way to prepare would be to look at all the block decks that did well and choose one of those.
Its harder than that, because the decks that did good in those blocks did good because they were against certain types of other decks. In general, I think some kind of beatdown or aggro deck will probably win, because the wrath effects of most blocks are crap, and generally there is no good countermagic.
its maddness maddness i tell you!
affinity seems strong in a less hateful environment. recurring wear away isnt going to stop them.
slide seems like it might also be one of the better control options.
too bad squandered reasources is banned...

Wear Away might not stop them, but how can affinity get though an Ethereal Haze lock from the Gifts deck? Guess they have to hope to draw a Scrabbling Claws and pack hate for a Pithing Needle

I am looking for Date Stamped promos from Khans of Tarkir block so I can finish my set. Check my wants if you have any.
Currently offering 2 non-foil Kolighan's Command for a Date Stamped foil!

Agree fully, Gifts is a very strong choice.
Don't run a basic block build, though. Metagame for Goblins, Affinity and Rising Waters instead of WW and MBA.
After remembering about Odyssey MBC, that would be a good match up for gifts. It all depends on who gets to resolve Haunting Echoes or Cranial Extraction. Odyssey gets an edge since it can splash red for Burning Wish and still be able to cast Echoes for the win.

By the time you get the haze lock going, Affinity should have won (unless the opponent gets a turn 2 Kataki's war wage). If it hasn't won it's either a poor build or due to an unlucky draw. Having said that, I don't think that Affinity is necessarily the best deck in a between block contest.
Replenish is probably the top deck right now on *****-league, tho id imagine hate decks like Oddysey block would start to be played.
Psychatog, Madness, and especially Mono Black Control from oddysey are fantastic choices vs replenish and creature based decks

I love Joboman, Poggy, Niv, and Vezok, because, while they may not be the best players, they still try to win. Having fun is the most important thing to a game, but I've learned that if you don't try to win, then you're ruining everyone else's fun.
If you're playing in somewhere without an established metagame, -GOBLINS-.
If you're playing in M-L, the best bet is to play a control deck that can reliably handle both replenish and goblins. You're on your own finding out what deck exactly that "is", as I'm pondering that conundrum on my own at the moment.
Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, the wisdom to know the difference, and a ****ing chainsaw.
I'm not sure about the sideboard but you'd probably need some number of
Tin Street Hooligan and/or Shattering Spree against affinity. It might
be a good idea to have 2 more Solifuge verse various forms of control.
Zoo would probably be better. You don't have the sort of metagame concerns you need to take into acount when playing gruul.

I honestly do not think that any deck from Ravnica block is strong enough to compete in the metagame. My list of the top decks looks something like:
1. Goblins - The deck can be metagamed for and can be beat by the right kind of deck but in general it is the best deck. It is easily the most strong and can win quickly. Also when you do not know what others will be playing and they do not either it is even better.
2. Madness - Most people will disagree with this but in one of my metagamed lists it gets pretty decent results. Although white splash is somewhat nessasary for this and I am unsure if it is as good as I think. More testing is nessasary.
3. Mono-Black Aggro - The deck wins, and it wins quickly. If your opponents are not expecting it MBA is even better. The strenght of Shadow where no one esle has shadow is insane.
4. Replinish - I do not like the deck, personally. It seems a bit too random and too easy to disrupt. And with so many people playing it it means more people are ready for it. Due to this I would not recommend playing it.

Gifts Control could also be strong since it can meta game itself a lot of different ways. Cranial Extraction and Kagemaro, First to Suffer can shut down several decks. same with Pithing Needle. Gifts would probably have a hard time against Shadow since Sakura-Tribe Chump Blocker would be rendered useless. On the Other hand, Umezawa's Hand could tear up shadow decks assuming they don't pull off a super fast hatred. they just have to watch out for the Ethereal Haze lock. I am not sure how they can stop that (other than winning before it goes online).
so there are really a lot of ways this block party could turn out at the invitational.
I have been doing really well with MBC on Magic-league ( just so you all know, im Devonne on Magic-league, formerly GangStarr). I personally think that with the right person behind it, MBC is the best deck in the format ( forget those Replenish players). Definitely up the count to at least 2 Haunting Echoes, though, and try maindecking Braids just because you know a lot of people are going to be playing Replenish, and a 3rd turn Braids when you have gone first pretty much ends the game for the Replenish player. I did see some very weird deck from Ravnica Block that used Vulturous Zombies, Circu, and a crap load of blue black spells. I played against this guy in Top 2 of a Block Mini ( yes, this jank made top 2), and through playing circu and a lot of gold blue/black spells, he was able to remove at least one copy of every major card in my deck, preventing me from using Mutilate, Haunting Echoes, Laquatus's Champion, and the like. It was a really weird deck, but he beat me and won a mini with it so it cant be all bad ( no it is, never play that deck). Anyway, MBC is the way to go.
Madness -really- isn't worth it if you're only in one block.
The deck out of left field I've eben testing: Mirrodin Block Counter-Tooth. It really has good matchups against everything you can think of except Goblins, and I have found the room to maindeck some Silent Arbiters to take care of that problem, which also helps against some random aggro decks, too (I've seen people play Rav. Block Zoo to fair amounts of success.)

not to mention that finnity is fast. ridiculous fast.
block gifts was winning like turn 7 earliest and wasnt guarenteed to have anything up by 5th turn.
and you could easily be dead by then.
but whats the point of argue'n.. never happen.
mbc seems strong.. but i still like slide... if it wasnt for wear away and mind sludge... well even then i think its got a good chance, id just have to build it right...

Affinity is still there...but it lost a lot in the bannings.
You could try a Gifts Ungiven deck, or Umezawa's Jitte.dec.
I don't know what a block Mirari's Wake deck would look like.
Domain would be fun, but it really wants the ravnica duals.

this:
4 Birds of Paradise
4 Scab-Clan Mauler
4 Dryad Sophisticate
4 Scorched Rusalka
4 Burning-Tree Shaman
4 Rumbling Slum
2 Giant Solifuge
4 Moldervine Cloak
4 Char
3 Savage Twister
8 Mountain
8 Forest
4 Stomping Ground
3 Skarrg, Rage Pits

I'm just offering up an idea...

I think you need to factor in Odyssey MBC (Innocent Blood, Chainer's Edict, Mutilate) are all good against the MBA of tempest block.
It also has Mind Sludge and Haunting Echoes for the replenish and other control decks.
