Played the 25 land build tonight and damn burn is an absolute beating. I find myself missing the pushes dearly. Also lost to Grixis Shadow whom the pilot told me he built the sideboard to beat Jund. He had LOTV, Dreadbore, even Lilianas Defeat coming out which he snapped to kill my third LOTV. Brutal beating tonight.
I did manage to 2-0 BR hollow call so ended on a sweet note at least.
Glissa has always been better on paper than in practice. If there was ever a time to play her, it was last year when Fatal Push was the king of removal spells. With more decks playing Lightning Bolt now, paying 3 mana for a creature that dies to it with no immediate impact is not a great proposition. She also requires a lot of setup for a payoff that we just don't really need.
Guys, I tested out BR Hollow One last night, after seeing someone with no experience beat four experienced jund players at Mondays FNM.
I don't think the variance is as lucky as we all thought, I was actually appalled how consistent it was. I managed to beat Goryos, burn, goblins, storm and elves, and grixis control. The deck beats up on proactive and reactive decks.
It's super underplayed for how powerful it is, I think most people just haven't caught on to it yet, it makes me want to play 2x Cages and 1x Spellbomb moving forward.

If idiots are going to over sideboard you can't do much about it. I hate morons like that. Things like that don't work well when they go to something bigger than an FNM, they will be severely punished for that.
I don't meta for my FNMS, I pretend I'm going into an open field, it's probably why I've done better in tournaments that my actual FNM lately. I can place at the Philly Classic and get Top 8 in the 1K this past month and a half but I'm barely breaking 2-2 at my FNM lately.
Burn feels like a beating for sure now, I'm not sure what to do about it without sacrificing too much against other decks.
Yea that decks' strength lies in the fact that even if Burning Inquiry doesn't result in Hollow Ones, they just stocked their Graveyard for the Anglers coming down, or Bloodghasts / Phoenixes.
Not to mention, once you discard 3 lands, there goes the game on turn 1. Ridiculous

I got to 2-1 a Grixis control deck with 4x Direfleet Daredevil the other night. That card ******* destroys us. G1 my opponent was at 3 with no cards in hand facing down Lili+BBE. He topdecks Snap IIRC and snap commands into Direfleet hitting my Kommand.... it was gross.
Felt awesome to beat him. One of the few times Cage is amazing vs Grixis.
Now, I know he is not really known for being a Jund guy, but the article is solid in my opinion and I think he has the right way to look at the deck. Its definitely worth a read.
His version contains 24 lands. Still not sure about that.
I don't like the Blooming Marshes at all, and the lack of good GY hate, but other than that, I like the 6 discard main.
I wasn't crazy about the article. There's been no high stakes tournaments. People are still brewing and tweaking.
None of the article had me learn something new.
3 mainboard thoughtseize also seems like a mistake
Thats fair. I still like the article though, since Jund being highlighted always feels great (compared to our dark age period months ago)
And I like, that, despite some preference differences in the list, he says nothing compeltely wrong about the deck. Lately there have been other articles doing exactly that and I don't love that.
I'm still excited to see if jund runs 24 or 24 land and what the discard and removal ends up.
Does anyone feel 3 scooze and 1 spellbomb and 1 cage feel too little? I have no clue where to find room for another grave hate except to cut the last hope in the side

He's running a lowish curve so 24 lands seems fine in his build. I'm running 25 lands but I'm still finding that I flood out quite a bit more than I did with 24 - either that or I find that I have nothing but spells after a lucky Cascade skims over 8 or so lands. I think 25 lands is probably right for most current builds but his list is running more 1 CMC cards than most builds I've seen running around these days.
I'm with you on the Blooming Marshes, I dislike running too many fast lands; the times when they enter play tapped can be a huge tempo disadvantage.
Yeah he runs more 1 drops. However, still 8 three drops and those 4 BBE. Thats typical in 25 land builds also. Still not sure if that is fine for 24 or not. Thats really tough.

I am on 2 Ooze, 2 Spellbomb and 1 Cage. Technically thats the same amount of GY hate spells, but I have more impactful ones. Ooze is just slow. I personally like the configuration I have atm.

In any case, outside of that nonsense, the deck has been incredible and I am currently 18-8 with it on Modo.

The only thing I considered was to replace the TS in the board either with Duress or a third CB to hedge a bit more against Burn.
But other than that, I still have no clue how many discard, how many lands and how many three drops is right, so I just stick to what I know works as of now.
@victordlukka pls check the SB guide from the primer, its up to date. Then, if you want to have info about matchups not present in the Primer, let me know.
4-1'd another modern league with Lingering Jund. Beat BR Hollow one, UB Control, Humans, and Dredge and lost to Lantern on 3 gamesaving whir topdecks in a row followed by double codex shredder to find pithing needle to cut off lily ult to get rid of bridge in game 3. Some of the most insane draws I've ever seen in My 12 years of playing magic. This was after he toppdecked a thoughtseize to save himself in game 1. In any case, outside of that nonsense, the deck has been incredible and I am currently 18-8 with it on Modo.
Have you had mana issues yet? Not in context with BM or FoR, but generally, playing with the deck.
I don't think it's too much of a problem myself (at least from my experiences experimenting with both a 24 and 25 land builds). Additionally, his results with his build were decent enough that he likely didn't get mana screwed often. At least I'm assuming he would have mentioned in the article if he experienced an abnormal amount of mana screw. Personally, I feel the main benefit of running 25 lands is the increased chance of having 4 lands in play by turn 4. I was gonna add that it makes Mulligans a bit better but I think the ability to mulligan better is contrasted by the occasions where we mulligan because of a land heavy starting hand.
Couldn't we also then say, when we are on 24 lands, that we mulligan more often land light hands? I am more inclined to keep those with 25 lands in the deck. I think that those constrasts even each other out.

None at all honestly. The mana has worked out extremely well. It's actually durward's exact manabase -1 ravine. replacing the mires with flats and adding a plains has helped a ton.
I must say that 25 lands build has been quite punishing for me. At first it was fine but now it got worse. It's most notable when both me and my opponent are hellbent and I need something (good) to draw, in this case I draw land most of the time, including multiple in a row. It could be that I'm a bit unlucky which I am tbh (I'm not very lucky at Magic) but this happened to me much less when I was on 24 lands.
I'm not saying that 25 less is wrong because of that but it's definitely something to take into account when playing 25 lands and when comparing both (24 and 25) land build.
Inherently, Jund's strength is in its topdecks. I've never like running 25 lands because while you may get mana screwed less, you're also topping into lands more often. I would rather get screwed on mana 5% more and topdeck better

I have to say I am rather more on the flood side, to be consistant in actually casting my spells. If I have a land heavy hand in 5 lands and one of the spells is BBE, that could be good enough.
And from what I know, flood beats screw generally.
I did manage to 2-0 BR hollow call so ended on a sweet note at least.

But other than that, I still have no clue how many discard, how many lands and how many three drops is right, so I just stick to what I know works as of now.
Have you had mana issues yet? Not in context with BM or FoR, but generally, playing with the deck.
// 24 Land
4 Blackcleave Cliffs

3 Raging Ravine

2 Swamp
4 Verdant Catacombs
1 Godless Shrine
4 Marsh Flats
1 Plains

Inherently, Jund's strength is in its topdecks. I've never like running 25 lands because while you may get mana screwed less, you're also topping into lands more often. I would rather get screwed on mana 5% more and topdeck better

And from what I know, flood beats screw generally.
