what're the other benefits of running Spirebuff and Darkslick compared to using Sulfur Falls and Drowned Catabombs?
My personal playstyle with grixis delver is more of midrange, so my 4th and 5th topdecked land would be preferred to be untapped.
Is it because drawing Sulfur/Drowned in your opening seven without a basic/fetch is prone to mulligans?
I rarely keep a one-lander anyway so a single Spirebuff opening seven and a single Sulfur would be both a mulligan as well.
Hope you guys can help. Thanks!
Spirebluff and Darkslick are t1 untapped painless mana sources and our deck runs no cards over 3 cmc. Being able to cast stuff t1 without taking damage is huge in many matchups, and coming in tapped later rarely matters due to the low cost of our deck

I'll add that this is true mostly for Spirebluff Canal, because we don't play discard or other black spells t1. Darkslick Shores has the same problems as Sulfur Falls - being in starting hand alone against aggro causes us to mulligan, and paired with fetch/shock makes us lose 1-3 life anyway in order to cast Bolt t1. What about lategame, southsidemagic, of course ***** can happen, but most likely by that time fastland will already be on the table / scried to the bottom / discarded to Brutality.

I'm inclined to agree with you here, in fact the only reason i haven't swapped the Darkslick for another Spirebluff is the fact I've had hands with both of them, and the ability to cast terminate/kcommand some % of the time without losing any life has proven useful enough
I've always been fairly impressed with our matchup against Jund. We're both grindy, but we have stack interaction and recursion effects with Snap and more Kommands, which Jund can't really replicate.
It's Abzan that's the problem, since their removal is better than ours and Lingering Souls is a good Magic card.
Overturf holds that one of the primary draws to Grixis is its stellar Jund matchup.
the card itself really isn't worth the card board its printed on...does it serve a purpose? Sure its a blue 1 drop that might not be a 1/1. I would not put it in a list and expect to win a PTQ or GP though.
Idle thought: is the one-of Darkslick Shores really offering us more than the 2nd Watery Grave? This deck never needs B on Turn 1, and chances are you need to fetch to slam a Tasigur, the Golden Fang down on Turn 2 anyway.
Also, on an entirely separate note: what basics do you guys run? I've been playing full art Zendikar ones like literally everyone else in the format and I'm thinking of getting something different. I have some foil Shadowmoor/Time Spiral basics but they've been curling, so I think I want to get a set of lands that aren't foil, but that stand out.

BFZ foils all the way. The Noah Bradley ones in double sleeve work great and aren't too expensive. I also have Expedition Watery Grave, Steam Vents, and Blood Crypt, so they match better visually and thematically than something like Unhinged, Unglued, or "regular style" basics. As a side note, the deck is actually almost completely foil now; the only big things I have left are Scalding Tarns and Snapcaster Mages. I've actually picked up 2 Snapcasters recently because of a great deal, but I have no intention of replacing the others or the Scalding Tarns until they're mass reprinted.
I've had no issues with any foils curling, but I also keep my decks double sleeved and stored in a 5' tall safe along with other personal items of value. The trick with storage is to utilize silica gel packets to prevent moisture; even if it's just a shoebox. These packets keep the air dry which is great for foil cards, comic books, camera equipment, and steel firearms. I keep at least a dozen of them scattered around the inside of the safe. I never actually buy them because they often come "free" with stuff my wife buys (shoes, purses, etc).
The second Watery Grave is also foil, but a GTC version.

Now that is a pretty deck. I'll have to pick up some silica packets and try again. Where do you get yours?
They can be had cheap from Amazon (link), but I got mine from various products that ship with them (like shoes, wife's purses, etc). Most people throw them out, but I save them... ALL OF THEM! They can also be found in things like beef jerky packets, but those are kind of greasy on the outside, and I generally don't save those.

I've always been of the opinion that unhinged are the best looking grixis basics.
So I went to playe at my FNM with Grixis Delver for the first time tonight... and I have to say that... this deck is an absolute BLAST to play with.
This morning I had Overturf's build, but last minute before the FNM, I decided to go with Kevin's Pyromancer build. I did not regret one bit. It was awesome.
Beat mono-green Elves without Cavern(2-1), drew against BW Tokens (1-1) and lost against Bant Knightfall (0-2) but we decided to split for store credit. Bant Knightfall played an insane Collected Company at 3 life... : Coco for Selfless Spirit with Spellskite on board. I was tapped out and had Snap and Bolt in the grave. :/
Side notes:
- Managed to borrow my friend's Scalding Tarn and EE
- I know 1 AV is awkward, it's just there because I couldn't find Painful Truths.
- With the store credit, I bought another Spirebluff Canal which will immediately replace Sulfur Falls.
- Is Painful Truth that good? Isn't the life loss bad ? We're losing a lot a life with Probes, Shocks, etc.
- There were times tonight where I wish I had more counterspells/removal, it would have helped a lot. I'm not sure if I should go +1 counterspell and +1 Terminate.
I'm on RUG Delver right now. I'm thinking of going back to Grixis. I hate that sinking feeling when an opponents big beater lands and I have no way to get it off the board.
RUG play more tempo and aggro. Really its a "protect the queen" type of deck. How does Grixis Delver play compared to RUG?
What match ups are you concerned about sbing for? Plenty of us run the pyro shell and I personally have a very similar sb to Kevin jones.
I'm more worried about the weird decks in modern. The brews scare me cause I don't know what cards are good in different situations. I am notoriously bad at sideboarding. I guess that just comes with practice though?
