I have been on UR Breach since the banning of Twin really, super excited to be able to play some Jace in the deck. Right now I own 2 but if I owned a 3rd I would probably play that one too. I came to a similar conclusion to the above users, cutting a Blood Moon and the 4th Emrakul.
I'm expecting RG Ponza to see a huge uptick and that is something every pilot in this thread needs to prepare for. Turn 2 Stone Rain into Turn 3 BBE - Molten Rain or Tracker or Moon is strong. This makes me think Opt should be cut for a 9th fetch and early interaction.
Against other Jace decks I think Breach will be favored. If a player taps out for a Jace then the following turn the opponent can just slam a Breach kill.
This is basically the UR list that made top 8 from the PT with a few change, most noticeably Jace, the Mind Sculptor.
First what's everyones opinion on this list overall, and second with Jace, the Mind Sculptor now being legal, would it be better to go up to the full four Young Pyromancer, and just take Thing in the Ice out so it cant just be bounced.
Also, I'm not the best writer, but I'll try to write a primer from the breach side. I had my deck pretty polished out, but now the meta is going to shift. Need to make some changes and test things.
There's definitely an argument for that. My worry though is that the people who created the deck felt it was more like a UR thing deck than a pyromancer deck. Also, personally I'm a tad worried about people playing a bunch of aggro to beat the jace decks, and Thing is great vs those decks. (definitely would side thing out tho against jace decks).
That said, if I did 4 peezer I'd look and see if I could have another threat. Maybe Clique or Copter for more jace killing?
Been testing 4 of with the breach version. This deck is the real deal. Reminds me of playing UR Twin. I think maybe you could shave down to 3 but honestly a resolved JTMS is better than most other spells in the deck and it's hard to make a case for less for me. Jace's brainstorm on a stick gives you easy combo digging, and the ult is it's own wincon if they somehow deal with breach/emrakul.
Personally I think breach/emrakul is the best wincon period, certainly versus decks that run fatal push or other easy thing in the ice answers
I haven't been this excited about a deck in a while. It really does feel like playing twin again except 1 turn later on the instant win and a lot harder to deal with
I really do think UR Jace Breach will be a tier 1 deck if enough people see how good it is. It has all the fun of playing twin and instant-winning on the spot with a 2-card combo, while playing the control game UR twin used to play, blocking people out with blood moon and stealing games, and Jace on top of it all smoothing out the consistency, giving us a significant edge in midrange grind battles, and providing an alternate wincon. It's also the most fun i've had playing modern in a long time.
Was going to play with a similar build this weekend, but I'll wait until next week when the unbanning goes live.
I don't think more than 2 JTMS are necessary, nor are they safe to play. The main objective of the deck is to draw into the combo, protect the combo, burn the opponent out, or to ultimate Jace. Playing more than 2 Jaces will clog up our hand, and will likely sit there until it is safe to play him. Because we play Blood Moon, there is a real chance that we can get Brainstorm-locked, but I've had no problem with slamming him with Cryptic Command backup and to just start Fatesealing (me or my opponent, depending on the circumstances).
EDIT: It's also worth noting that curving Blood Moon into JTMS is pretty degenerate, but it doesn't always win the game.
Here a breach list I'm thinking about building. There are two changes I'm thinking about making. The first is dropping blood moon and play field of ruins and add more interaction. The second is dropping spreading seas for more interaction. I keep hearing though that the meta is going to turn into a bunch of b/g/x midrange, in which case spreading seas seems really good. Any comments or suggestions welcomed.
I think disrupting shoal is a trap, and it's only getting posted since it's triggering wizard's 20 unique card algorithm. At least on mtgo, there's too much tron for the card to be playable. Countering a turn 1 map might be amazing, but I don't think that deck has a fast enough clock for that to matter.
I think breach is pretty good. It has a combo finish to beat the unfair decks quickly. And it's strong against the other UWx decks. I know UW control pre Jace unbanning had a terrible match up vs breach. And since both decks now get jace, it's probably an even trade at the worst. The esper lists could be a problem, as discard, lingering souls and liliana are annoying, but then 3 color decks get wrecked by blood moon.
I've been messing around in the practice room and friendly leagues and watching a ton of people on twitch stream Jace decks. Nothing has been standing out that much. I think these streamers lose percentage points streaming making wrong plays while reading the chat. Perhaps these controlling Jace decks are better than they appear. But in my experience i've been losing the least with a UR moon deck. I think being proactive is where you want to be, as you don't know what threats you need to stop currently. However I think everyone has 3-4 dispels in their board now, I wonder if there's some sideboard tech you can play. Young pyromancer might be viable, though the 17th modern challenge list only has 2 slots for midrange/controlling decks.

young pyromancer is for a lower curve, doesn't play well with jace or breach. Titi is played because you toss him out and then forget about him and eventually he flips as you play counter magic
And was very impressed. Jace is a very good addition to the deck as it gives an other angle of attack as well as a way to get rid of redundant combo cards. The deck also has no problem keeping the board clear, and Jace is great to deal with big delve threats without roast
I’ll keep testing with this list as it seems very promising going forward . Anybody also playing this kind of deck with a different list ?
I was also wondering if simian spirit guide could be viable in the deck ? Accelerating a turn 2-3 Jace, moon or early combo seems great, and you can side them out in grindy MU. I’ve never seen them played in Breach before but maybe someone tested ?
With Jace as an addition, I think the card gets better, as it combines well with Moon, Breach and Jace. I remember playing such a deck just after the Twin ban for a short while, and a 3rd card to accelerate into + a brainstorm effect was what it needed most

I was trying to modify my Breach deck after the B&R announcement and decided on two Jaces but started trimming down to 2 Moons and trying to keep some number of Search for Azcanta in the main, but I've been playing around with this version online and it seems good. I'll try out the 3 Moons more in paper for my Modern night at my LGS, but I can say I haven't really been enjoying the old Twin-style Breeding Pool/Ancient Grudge tech for this deck. I'll admit I've only played Affinity once and won on the backs of multiple Angers and Staticaster so it could just be confirmation bias, but I've had a few games where I couldn't curve Moon into Jace because I kept a stacked hand with nonbasics. I will probably just test a second Lighthouse or additional Island at some point since over a 3rd of the SB is anti-Affinity.

I agree that the green splash is maybe not worth it. I think he’s playing Grudge mostly as a trump against lantern, for affinity Abrade and By force should do the trick
I don’t think you really need breach or Kiki now. I’ve been running a snow land build with skred as my other form of removal because I hate roast. I play mostly at instant speed so scrying sheets has also been good. Now rather than those cards I just play 2 jtms, 3 bedlam revler, and 4 snaps as my win cons. I think 2 vapor snags in my list are allstars as well.
