What would be this decks hardest matchups? Death and Taxes, whose whole specialty is land denial?
I'd also think that Living End could possibly be a problem, since it has a pretty decent land destruction package thus denying you from getting to that critical last land you need to win.
Why would Boundless realms be to slow while scapeshift isn't? I follow your logic with the basic land issue but since both cards require 7 lands Scapeshift isn't faster.
Well, with just scapeshift, you can protect it sooner, so for 7 mana I have the combo and protection, verses just the combo. Also, you can't find valakut itself with boundless realms which is an amazing strength of scapeshift.
Which now, when considering that, was my decision to remove all sweepers from the mb a good decision? Or should I move some back to main so that there might be a glimmer of hope against random decks like it?
I'm not using any mainboard. I dunno if that's right or not.
Although, I'd rather my default set-up be the most optimal toward achieving my combo as possible. Sweepers aren't good against everything whereas winning the game is, well, winning the game.
I didnt play this in extended but play rg kut in standard could some ley this out for me like the ideal plays and the fastest it can go off, man i bought me 4 scapeshift before bed last night i just had a feeling this was going to happen got them for 50 cents each lulz anyways i play on mtgo i know this is a lil off subject but how late are they on updating this and im looking for someone to test modern with ill help test this deck with you i have naya pod, jund, uwr tempo, and a few other pm me anyone who is interested cheers and good ramping
I feel like this deck could go in two directions: Wargate + Blue, or just RG. I played the Wargate option during the last extended season and like it, but I'm exploring all my options right now
RUG is definitely the best way to go, Prismatic Omen is quite frankly bad because it makes it so you're vulnerable to enchantment removal as well and turns a 1 card combo into a two card combo. The only reason they played Prismatic Omen in new extended is because Shocklands weren't around so you would have to have a very high mountain count to reliably combo.

On Mono Black in Commander:

But whomever your commander is, Cabal Coffers is really in charge.
This is so exciting im anxious to see if a titan version or the more combo version is better must find ppl to test this on modo and also as someone in a earlier post stated i think izzet charm will be very good here obviously its hard to say right not but i cannot wait lets just hope kut isnt too oppressive
Maybe black for Liliana of the Dark Realms - she'll net you a land a turn. Plus, playing black will net you tutors for Scapeshift, like Beseech the Queen, which also works as a tutor to anything you could want, really. I think a board-control build could work, running things like Oblivion Stone as a board wipe to stop everything before your combo turn, and Ensnaring Bridge to stop creature decks. With BG, you could run a playset of Abrupt Decay as well, and you'd just slowly work your way up to the necessary number of lands (taking advantage of Explore and Sakura-Tribe Elder, of course). That could work.
There has never been a land that enters the battlefield untapped unconditionally and taps for two colors unconditionally. That would be strictly better than a basic land
Having a hard time picking up valakuts on mtgo trader.there going like candy lol. Im really excited to play anything valkut really
Not gonna lie - at 12:01 last night I bought as many Valakuts and Scapeshifts as I could find - I think about 12 and 7, respectively. It was remarkably hard even then!
Here's what I'm thinking:
4x Omnath, Locus of Mana
4x Ohran Viper
4x Scapeshift
4x Explore
4x Oblivion Stone
4x Ensnaring Bridge
4x Oracle of Muldaya
4x Primeval Titan
4x Search for Tomorrow
24 Land (inlcuding 1x Inkmoth and 1x Wolf run)
That way, you have CA in the form of Ohran Viper and Oracle of Muldaya. CA is vital so that you continue to get lands in the mid/late game to dig for Scapeshift as well as to get enough lands to combo.
You have ramp in the form of Search for Tomorrow, Omnath, Explore and Primeval Titan.
You have Ensnaring Bridge and Oblivion Stone as your control cards. Plus, Primeval Titan/Omnath/Viper to act as powerful blockers when necessary. Ohran Viper can happily attack under an Ensnaring Bridge and net you additional card advantage as well.
Oblivion Stone deals with planeswalkers and anything else they might drop to try and hate your deck out (such as Blood Moon).

Anything else I'm missing?
I'm not sure how we will ever beat DnT, tbh.
Fire spout? otherwise who knows...

Gut Shot is good against it as well.

Or, perhaps Loam, Summer Bloom, Cultivate, Kodoma's Reach and Horizon Canopy.

You only need 6 to combo.
Valakut + Valakut + 4 mountains = 24 damage
edit: Nevermind... I'll read the card properly next time.
Set a man on fire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
11 Mountain
4 Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle
4 Fire-lit Thicket
3 Forest
3 Evolving Wilds
2 Khalni Garden
1 Misty Rainforest
Creatures (4)
4 Primeval Titan
4 Scapeshift
4 Khalni Heart Expedition
4 Rampant Growth
4 Explore
4 Manamorphose
3 Cultivate
2 Volcanic Fallout
2 Primal Command
1 Prismatic Omen
3 Vexing Shusher
3 Reverberate
3 Obstinate Baloth
2 Combust
2 Primal Command
1 Prismatic Omen
1 Volcanic Fallout
And it's all legal! Fast combo decks like storm are a problem but the rest of the format really isn't as far as I can tell.
Modern: Jund, Wafo-Tapa UWR
Legacy: Witch-Maw Stoneblade
EDH: Ruhan of the Fomori, Hazezon Tamar, Maga, Traitor to Mortals
