Pia's Revolution 2R enchant
Whenever a nontoken artifact is put into your graveyard from the battlefield, return that card to your hand unless target opponent has Pia's Revolution deal 3 damage to him or her.
There have been no notable events lately, and in paper, KCI has spiked 20%. Has there been a spoiler that is exciting for this archetype?? I like taking a new turn and winning with a Tez, but I still feel that the energy-based cards are weak.
It seems a bit shady to me. It started spiking last week weeks ago. It implies that some group of people had insider information about Whir and started speculating on KCI early.
The previous spike logically aligned with an scg iq top 8, an rptq top 8, and a 5-0 league result. The price settled down and is going back up.
I think Lotus Bloom should spike more than Ironworks: we now have a mono-blue Wargate. I think, with fetches and Ghost Quarter, we can focus on getting Bloom and go a lonnng way without Ironworks even entering the battlefield. I'm tempted to come up with things that sacrifice to generate one mana and forget about Ironworks, like the Second Sunrise days.
Here's the thing about Whir getting KCI: It can't do it any faster than Mox Opal, Gemstone Caverns, Edge of Autumn, Mind Stone, or UrzaTron; basically, it doesn't speed us up getting KCI.
Honestly, it doesn't really even speed up comboing out with Faith's Reward. We can cast Whir on turn 3 getting a Lotus Bloom, but without a Mox Opal or the other above mentioned things, we won't hit the magic number 4. We can cast Whir on turn 3 and pass, and the opponent has a turn to play KCommand, Abrupt Decay, or another piece of interaction, which is a bad idea, or we can cast Whir for KCI or Bloom on turn 4. I feel that Eggs is already a very reliable turn 4 combo deck, so more redundancy in that regard doesn't excite me.
What separates Eggs from Ad Nauseam is an enabler that also protects us like Phyrexian Unlife. Twin protected itself from turn 3 combo with Deceiver Exarch, and then that card was half of a combo for the next turn or later in the game. Eggs taps out sorcery speed to play its cogs and opens itself to all sorts of brokenness from the current Modern metagame or lockout pieces such as Stony Silence, Rest in Peace, Thalia, Rule of Law-type effects, etc.
So we're waiting for a card comes out that is a self-sacrificing, self-replacing, cheap artifact that plays a Fog, Angel's Grace, counter, or nonland permanent bounce. Good luck getting that.
Whir of Invention is an instant, and could do things like find an Aether Spellbomb or Tormod's Crypt or something at instant speed. Could provide a bit of interaction, along with being additional copies of Ironworks in a pinch and a way to search out Bloom.
I don't think Servo Schematic is really a viable wincon, because it takes an extra turn after we combo off to actually win the game.
It puts out a blocker to possibly keep us alive another turn, but pyrite spellbomb or banefire could kill a creature, or aether spellbomb and alchemist's vial can serve the same purpose.
Servo Scematic is dead mid-combo, while pyrite, aether, and alchemist's all draw us a card. Banefire isn't a good topdeck, but it could also allow us to just sac everything for mana and win.
Finally, while Schematic enables metalcraft, the deck runs at least 20+ artifacts and that really shouldn't be a problem.
We got some love from Lee Shi Tian, who, in my opinion, is a great deck builder and a person to pay attention to if you like finding the best game one deck.
As you can see, he went with a KCI-less approach when using Whir, kind of like the one I mentioned. I am excited to try it! I used to enjoy the Wargate variant of the deck quite a bit, and I think it made me a better KCI Eggs player to test it. I learned a lot about how to combo without Ironworks.
Yeah Whir is really good. I'm going to have to keep play testing to see how my sideboarding cuts are affected, but I'm definitely running at least two.

I hope so at least, I'm planning to go to a SCG Regional in a month.

Whir has tested exceptionally well in my deck as a 2-of right now. I'm looking to try 3 and 4 as well.
It seems like the most common play is either grabbing a Lotus Bloom EOT on turn 3, or grabbing Codex Shredder as a finisher.
