Hey everyone, I'm currently building a Grixis Delver list as a secondary Modern deck. I don't know much about the archetype, so I was hoping you'd take a look at my list and tell me what's working and what's not. It would help if you explained why my choices are incorrect as well, if you could, so I could learn the deck better. Thanks so much! I'm aiming for a bit of a slower list, more midrange than tempo, which is why I'm running two Young Pyromancers and no Remands. Here we go:
Is there a good manabase I can build without scalding tarn? I'm building my ultra-budget Faeries deck towards Grixis Delver, and I'd rather like to avoid dropping $350 on Tarns.

You can fetch any of your shocks out with deltas and mires, the only problem with running mires over tarns is the ability to fetch basic islands.
I think that really depends on the content of your deck, if you are building a slower control shell with Cryptic Commands and you want to reliably flash them back with a Snapcaster Mage then you are really going to want to be able to reliably find at least four blue sources out of your deck. If your use only shocks to achieve this, you are really going to feel the burn of paying too much life.
Whereass if you run a more aggressive shell, you will likely only ever need two blue mana open for snapcaster and whatever you want to flashback at any point, so the lack of tarns is a lot less damaging. The introduction of Spirebluff Canal to the deck in a week and a half will really help with fast and reliable starts, I would recommend getting a set of those as soon as you can.
Alright, so this is what I'm thinking for a more aggressive/midrange sided deck:
4x Polluted Delta
3x Bloodstained Mire
1x Flooded Strand (Budget Blue Fetch)
3x Steam Vents
2x Watery Grave
1x Blood Crypt
1x Sulphur Falls
2x Spirebluff Canal
2x Island
1x Swamp
1x Mountain
Question to everyone: do you think we have the space to max out on spire bluff in a 19 land manabase? I can see it easily in a 20 land deck, but with 19 lands I imagine 9 fetches, 7 fetchables, 3 spire bluff would be the way to go. 8 fetches sounds too little for powering out tasigur, even with probes being in the equation on the 19 land version.
@Greevy: List looks good but the manabase could get reworked. Try to max out on Spirebluff Canal, something like this:
1x Blood Crypt
1x Bloodstained Mire
4x Spirebluff Canal
2x Island
1x Swamp
4x Polluted Delta
4x Scalding Tarn
1x Steam Vents
2x Watery Grave
Thanks for the reply! I'd really like to stick to 19 lands if possible, and keep a basic of each fetchable. I'm thinking about going down to one of each basic land and fetchland to max out the Canal. What do you think of this?
@creevy with four spire buffs you probably won't need the mountian, as you'll have a ton of red sources. That slot could probably be an extra watery grave.
My concern is that 9 fetches and 6 fetch ables is a little too unbalanced
what do you all think about cathartic reunion? It fuels delve and digs pretty deep for two mana. I'm sure it will see play in dredge, not sure if it's good enough for delver.

Youll 3 for 1 yourself with spell snare, definitely a no.
Does anyone know what the Kevin Jones 1st place list from the WMCQ looks like?
Looking to this photo at Cristian Calcano's twitter we can see a Delver and a Young Pyro, so maybe he is playing with the list Augustus Law won the GP.
Hey guys, played my first Modern tournament in three years last night and went 3-0, then split the finals. I beat Infect, Grixis Delver (w/ Pyros), and Affinity. Here was my list:
I loved the glut of removal but thought there was a tad too much countermagic. I also felt it could've used one more threat, so I see why people are moving toward Pyros. I don't want to shave on business to play Probes, though. Can the deck support a fifth Delve dude? The second Angler sounds appealing, as Tasigur was an all-star all night. Any other creature candidates out there, or could I get away with running 2-3 Pyros without Probes?
Rakdos Charm was awesome, killing two Cranial Platings in one game. For me it'll take the Vandalblast slot in some sideboards because it doubles as Dredge hate. The rest of my sideboard is definitely up for debate. Hero's Downfall was fine, too. BB took a little work to manage, but it beat tapping out for something like Dreadbore.
Since I'm thinking about playing five Delve creatures, I don't think I can go below ten fetchlands; therefore, I'm not sure if I can afford to play a ton of Spirebluff Canals. I'm going to try one at first, then add more as necessary.
I'd love to get feedback on the list, notably the sideboard and the creature suite.
