Love the look of the deck and would love to try it out. But I don't have the Liliana's and not really in a position to get them right now. So is there any cards I would run in her place or is she one of the main reasons the deck works?

Liliana is definitely very good. Your deck will be worse without her, but I think you could do something like play extra copies of rise/fall, kcommand, inquisition, or another jace. And then you have some free slots in the sideboard
I first played this deck with Vendilion Clique in the place of the Lili's. While it is not as good it is still a decent substitute and worthy of giving some thought to.
Lurking the forums, found this deck, instantly fell in love. I always knew there was more to Rise // Fall.
On the topic of Liliana replacements, I saw a budget 8rack list that ran 4 copies of Necrogen Mists to get that continual discard thing going.
I understand that's pretty bad, but this deck plays so well with the main phase and hellbent that it might be just good enough, especially if
you are looking for something really cheap to play in her stead. You could also adjust your list to run more removal to account for her absence.
But I am in the van for this deck it's way too good. I feel like Abbot is the Red Bob we've all been waiting for.
Does anyone else feel like a Blighting works here? I've always felt like it's Modern playable, it just never seemed to fit in any other shell. Jund has too many other better options and the sorcery speed always made it a no-no for Grixis. I'd feel really good about -3ing Jace to pay 3 for its effect.
It's a good point. All the cards you mentioned are more flexible and I'd never cut a Command for it. I'd play it over a 4th Lili though. I feel like this deck can get by with playing some powerful singletons with all the graveyard interaction. Blightning can absolutely get an opponent hellbent while also providing solid reach.
I'll admit...it's a bit of a pet, but I think I'm going to sleeve this up and test it out. I love the idea of this Jund-style grindy Grixis.
I think the one thing this deck is lacking currently is the 'hit it all' equivalent to Abrupt Decay.
I'm fine with artifacts and such, but when it comes to annoying enchantments and beefy creatures, I start to wish I had a decay.
I was looking at sort of alternatives, the best I could find is bounce effects (Into the Roil, Void Snare) or Grixis Charm.
Bounce + a seize/IoK is virtually removal
Been playing Grixis "Control" for a while, but I may try a slightly neutered version of this. I only have a single Lili so I think I will run her and have as singles and see how I like them.
I will also say that I am not really sold on not running cryptic at all. I may change my mind once I get some games in but it will likely be in my initial list.

Leyline of sanctity is just a really hard permanent to remove, no matter what your colors. Even jund is usually drawing to just a 1 or 2 of maelstrom pulse.
I would love to find room for a 3rd jace, but overall I'm happy with the 75 right now. Sideboard can always been changed according to your meta. The only other cbange I might make is a 2nd blackcleave over the second bloodcrypt. But overall, I love the deck. If you have any questions, let me know
Everything is looking solid here guys, and I'm pumped the deck is doing well for people.
Like the jund lists that are starting to experiment, how do we feel about Hangarback Walker? Against anything other than path it's a 2-1, and we have better graveyard recursion than basically any deck in the format. Is it worth a shot in the side?
I'm confident against the majority of decks in the long game. Lingering souls, graveyard decks, and the ramp decks are what I usually lose to in the long game. The first 2 aren't popular right now, and the last one I have 4 fulminator, 4 rise/fall, and 4 kcommand for.
I was pretty happy with the lategame card advantage the deck had before I put in Jace. And that card is crazy advantage if you get to untap with it. (I'm glad I ghave him another shot, I cut the wrong cards for him before, which made the deck feel really awkard/slow)
I don't think I even want a single dedicated "grind" card in the board. The kcommands and rise falls do that, while still having applications elsewhere. I want cards to help my poor matchups, not make my good ones even better
That would depend on the matchup, are you the beatdown or not? If you're the beatdown, you drop Abbot and start getting prowess trigger beats in, if you're the control, bluffing a counter is probably fine (at least until people learn what this deck actually does and how to spot it).
TJD - You're right about Hangarback. This is one of the grindiest decks I've ever played, so there's not really a reason to grind even harder.
Edit - just updated the primer to include Jace and Michael Majors' finish at Charlotte. Can anyone think of anything else that's relevant to add currently? Suggestions?

That being said I cant afford Lilliana right now. What could I replace her with while I save?
