Got this list foiled out for Christmas, and it has been performing very well for me and is very fun! I really like this deck as my second deck (Primary deck is Titanshift).
Nice. That list looks fast and furious. All foiled out too..
I never had enough money to foil my Stompy. The only "pimping" that I did are the four full art geist.
Anyway, just one question on your list. Why only 3 Rancor? Too many instant removal in your area?
It looks really pretty if you want to see pictures! I promise if you ever are able to, consider it!
To answer your question, I honestly never felt the need for 4. The Garruk's Companion and the 3 rancors have felt like enough trample enablers for me without decreasing resiliency (because Blossoming Defense is indispensable imo for this deck it helps so much and I can't think of something besides that to cut for it). I never wanted to topdeck too many Rancor's so 3 felt like the sweet spot. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
Can I see the picture of your foiled deck? Well, if ever I did have extra funds, I could slowly start to foil things.
But right now my mtg funds are being saved for some cards that my other decks need.
About Rancor... well, it's probably the difference in our meta. Over here Eldrazi is still a thing.. so I need something that would keep allowing our 3 power creatures to trade with Thought-Knot Seers and Reality Smashers, and Rancor is just right for the job. I would have run 5 rancor if the rules allowed it. Hmm, and I do notice that you are using Feed the Clan.. have you tried Pulse of Murasa? In my limited testings the pulse is better, 6 life already counter two Burn spells + returning a creature from the grave allows us to keep up the pressure.
I am not home right now but when I get home in a couple of days I will totally post the pictures!
I have considered Pulse, but I have already felt the grindy matchups have been nice (multiple cards already dedicated to it and Pulse has multiple uses as a card which is a strength) and blanking more then 2 burn spells helps a lot! It could come down to personal preference though and a meta choice. If the meta was almost entirely grind, I would replace it with Pulse!
Fatal Push may present some new deckbuilding constraints. Young Wolf just keeps getting better. I feel like Push makes Baloth very hard to play t3 and makes having one mana up for Vines/Defense at all times very important.
Greenbelt Rampager seems like a reasonable time. Turns Experiment One into a 4/4 all by itself, and is a 3/4 for spread out across as many turns as you like. Thoughts?
the Greenbelt Rampager is amazing. The only way I see this working is cutting 4 basics for 4 attune with Aether and run it like Land Grant in legacy stompy. I like the idea of using it to pump E1 a bunch. But with only 1 devotion and not being able to play it T1 it takes away from the punch we pack with a well timed aspect of hydra. so do we make the switch to mutagenic growth, giant growth, or blossoming defense? I like the potential here.
I don't think a two-mana 4/3 is anything to write home about, though I admit it does have a favorable interaction with Avatar. My main concern is that it encourages abandoning what I feel are this deck's strengths for inconsistent gains.
Splashing other colors makes Aspect worse, as does playing creatures that only provide one G devotion. Aspect allows us to steal games by (often) giving us a turn of damage for one mana, which I feel is key to this deck's success.
The other problem with Liberator is that it is horribly inconsistent. If we can't trigger Revolt, it's a Savannah Lions for two mana, which is horrible. Avatar, by comparison, is ahead of the curve at two for a 3/2 trample reach even without an etb buff.
Young Wolf never really dies unless you target it with Rancor. Still not worth it. Maybe it's time to play fetches? I don't know. How many times does Avatar get no counters? I expect this card will get the revolt ability just as much. Maybe a little more.
I could be wrong, but I don't think the new cards are worth playing. More spot removal has been introduced, but I still think the deck in the current iteration can survive. The blossoming defenses have helped me a lot and I feel now warrant inclusion if you guys don't run it. Also, run a couple more cards suited for grind.
Yeah, none of this stuff looks exciting. It's only the first day of spoilers, so I'm still holding out for a broken green one-drop.
I agree that Defense is necessary. It works well with Aspect and allows me to use my Vines as disruption against Infect. I'm running two right now, and they've been nice.

I agree with this. Which is part of why I'm giving a lot of thought to a stompyish offshoot that foregoes Aspect and goes to a second color by abandoning the heavy-on-devotion preference (a thought I touched on a bit many pages back in mention of Lupine Prototype and now am revisiting in light of these new cards.)
I just keep looking at this rouge elephant 2k17 and thinking that wizards printed this specifically for us in this thread to break.
I see the potential too. Hopefully another card will be printed usable to our deck that produce energy for the elephant. For example, an instant pump spell that produce enregy counters when cast.
If anything, Greenwheel Liberator is closer to a trap from what I can gather. Adding fetches for the synergy also incidentally opens the deck up to Blood Moon, and without them revolt will be considerably less reliable to hit. I mean, Dryad Sophisticate is a better 2/1 for 1G, and it's not like anybody's even remotely considering playing that.
I really think Greenbelt Rampager merits a trial run due to its beyond-bolt butt, flexible mana allotments and E1 synergy. However, adding stuff like Attune with Aether feels like a stretch.

Now this card... This one has potential to open discussion about fetches, splashing and maybe even young wolf

Yes, there will be times when you won't be able to proc revolt, that's why I think it could be good maybe as 2-off
