Yeah Erebos seems great in Zombies and Vamps. Maybe make a Zombie cloud deck? Seems almost crazy enough to work.

In case I didn't tell you, I don't care about your opinion I just want your facts. And not the facts that make you seem smart. I want the ones that are actual facts.
Mutavault and Gravecrawler do (in theory) play well with DC anyway. It's too bad there aren't more playable Zombies. Geralf's Messenger is a bit underwhelming I think, but he would be very useful for turning on Erebos. Maybe we need to be looking like..?

I would drop bloodghast, I think you are way too vested in creatures in my opinion. You also seem to have wayyy too much life loss. I think you need more in the way of life gain or aggression against your opponent to offset this life loss. Sadly black doesn't have these tools and green requires mana ramp to usually get there. Perhaps that new whip of erebos can help you here. I would replace it with culling dais. I just don't think it is actually doing enough for you. You also should want life from the loam or crucible of worlds. Since you have recurring creatures loam may not be a bad include. Just my thoughts. I just feel like against burn and aggro you have absolutely no chance on winning.
I don't like Whip of Erebos here too much. I find it's a very large mana investment and it doesn't have that great an impact. Bow of Nylea, while being cheaper to cast and far cheaper to activate, doesn't depend on us having a dead dude, is always useful, and doesn't get terribly hosed by Deathrite Shaman.
It falls to Abrupt Decay, yes, but still I think it's faster impact is what matters the most.

I think Deathrite should be played in this list in place of messanger. Between crawlers and mutavaults recurring a crawler shouldn't be an issue. Deathrite can help him accel into different things. I think a turn 2 bow wouldn't be bad at all, turn 2 liliana is always a pleasure, turn 3 obliterator is never a bad thing either. But I think his list still needs land recurrence, and life gain. Deathrite could help him with mana and life. Just an option i think shouldn't be overlooked. He is only running 2 death cloud so it isn't like he is going to kill his entire board or his opponents very often.
I still prefer Kitchen Finks over Geralf's Messenger not only for the life gain rather than opponent's life loss, but the ETB tapped really hurts the Messenger. It was something I tested when I played Modern Jund.

I love Haakon in BG pox. Especially since Nameless Inversion is a decent removal spell on its own. But I feel you need around 10 discard outlets minimum in order for him to be playable. Conveniently, Death Cloud is 3 and X, so ideally you should be able to bring back haakon the following turn.
@ Messenger - The card is hardly modern playable. I threw it into the list to help the zombie theme and turn on Erebos. And Culling Dias protects Messenger as well as Crawler and Ghast from being exiled (via PTE for example). I was literally pulling numbers out of a hat.
At the end of the day that list probably wants Whip of Erebos over Death Cloud. Phyrexian Obliterator is quite strong however. I believe 4 is the right number in a deck like this, as you pretty much always want to be casting it on turn 4.

Messenger is absolutely unplayable in modern. Far too slow being 3 black and coming into play tapped. The 2 life lost is hardly relevant enough to make up for using a turn to not have a blocker or an answer to a creature, plus with path to exile and lightning helix seeing quite a bit of play it doesn't seem very relevant to have any part of a messenger over a syphon life or removal spell.

I was agreeing with you and following up with why I agreed. No debate at all. I apologize if you misunderstood. It does appear as though I may as well quoted you and left it alone as you previously stated everything I did.
not sure if this was mentioned but has anyone considered deadbridge chant either in the main or in the board? could be good against UWR. Haven't tested it myself yet. Thoughts?

This has been discussed before on the other thread. Deadbridge Chant does absolutely nothing and it does nothing very slowly. You tap out for it on turn 5-6 to get a random card back the next turn? It looks really good on paper, but once you try playing it, it's useless.
I've been very impressed with Read the Bones so far in testing- will definitely play a singleton, unfortunately don't have room for more right at the moment :S
So I played at my LGS tonight for our weekly modern event. Played my death cloud list and took the tournament down. I played against an Esper Teachings deck, a home brew and Patrick Sullivan's RW Burn deck. I made some changes to my original build and this is what I ended up playing.

Looks pretty close to the deck that I've been using. I approve!

Scavenging Ooze was an all star the entire night. Especially when I faced RW Burn in the finals. I stole game one from him on the draw with a top decked kitchen finks. And in game three played Ooze with enough green mana to make him a 5/5 and pad my life total a bit.
The only changes i might make would be to add thpoughtseize to the main once I can get my hands on some (yay Theros!) and possibly cut a Finks to add a fourth Bob. I only saw him twice and the times I played him he didn't live very long so not sure how good he is.
