This card seems like it could have some pretty interesting finds in the right deck. The list would need to synergy as to not rely on the Orders. Cairn Wanderer and Necrotic Ooze are both eager to play with Orders. Something like this seems interesting:
The sideboard would contain a toolbox of other, more situational, possible Orders combos. The options for the maindeck here are mostly generic. Some of the popular combos could be:
-Keep Necrotic Ooze, pitch Lotleth Troll - Gives you a nice beater that now dodges Abrupt Decay.
-Keep Necrotic Ooze, pitch Scavenging Ooze - if you need to empty their graveyard
-Keep Cairn Wanderer, pitch Baneslayer Angel - I foresee this being the most common play.
-Keep Cairn Wanderer, pitch Blood Baron - This could be huge if you're expecting PTE. The Wanderer is already out Bolt/AD range, so giving him protection from white seems strong.
-Keep Sun Titan, pitch Eternal Witness - Get back that LOTV, PTE, or Abrupt Decay you need to stay in the game.
Does anyone have any input on this idea? Any angles I haven't thought of, or obvious loose ends I haven't tied up? (other than obviously being weak to graveyard hate - but that's why I have Ground Seal in the sideboard)
I think this is pretty interesting, Jarad's Orders I don't think is very good, mainly because it's sorcery speed. I don't see what green is bringing to the table here, and I don't see why you wouldn't just run Esper Gifts Ungiven instead.
My thoughts exactly. IMO a gifts ungiven package with ooze is just soo much better. Ex: Gifts for Ooze, lotleth, Unburial Rights, griselbrand (or whatever other win con you have) and you are guaranteed a win. This works well because of the instant speed of gifts, you can do it at eot of opponent meaning disruption is less likely. Also likely before you gifts you have one of the pieces already in your hand or in the grave allowing for other gifts packages that even better guarantee your win, like ways to grant haste, etc... Cairn Wandering is slighty underwhelming. Getting one on the battlefield with useful effects attached requires quite a bit of deck dedication to set up and I don't think will be impactful enough to win you the game.
In my casual ooze deck I used dread return instead of unburial rights, bummer it's banned! The deck has been working extremely well for me though, suffers against scavening ooze, gotta side in hate for that guy.
Also while the any mana color from birds is nice, and it can grant your cairn flying, I like that devoted druid allows the ooze to untap if needed, even without abusing the ability infinitely, which I don't. It allows me to have ooze act as multiple fauna shamans that turn to get the rest of the required pieces in the grave to win.
Honestly I came up with this idea thinking that Jarad's Orders was an instant. The spell is definitely significantly less effective as a sorcery. Sadface
