I think i want to try one goblin dark-dwellers over batterskull in the main. and cut a Molten rain for an additional anger of the gods in the sideboard.
-Adonis2k
Did you find you missed stormbreath? He's pretty good against BW eldrazi.
I finally broke down and bought the cards for Skred on MODO. Been playing for the past couple days and so far the only decks I cannot beat are B/X Eldrazi and Tron. The Eldrazi deck is just too damn fast and I don't know what's changed but Tron didn't used to be this bad for me. I'm playing 3 Molten Rain main with Goblin Dark-Dwellers to rebuy them and 3 Crumble To Dust in the board and I'm getting destroyed even when I draw my hate. Every other matchup has been even or good for me so far.
Flamewake Phoenix has been awesome with the dragons package. I don't like the artifact heavy builds because I want to keep my sweepers as one sided as possible.
see, i like the artifact deck. only reason i'm not running it is i don't have hangerback walkers yet. so i'm currently using double dragon. but after seeing @adonis2k's decklist, i really enjoy the artifact list. i might be switching to that in the coming weeks.
Well i totally scrubed out at the pro tour hahaa.. I must say that i dont feel skred was a bad choice though, i was totally unlucky and without going into detail heres what i experienced.
Round 1 vs ur counter burn control.
This basically was my worst nightmare, it was basically a solinter twin's plan b, bolts, electrolyze, snapcaster, batterskulls, pia and kia nalar and a lot of counters and a lot of islands. I even resolved a boil on game 2 but i kept drawing lands after and he got back into the game and burn me, totally unlucky.
Round 2 vs soul sisters.
I playwd a turn 3 koth and protect it to ultimate him.. He then played runed halo naming mountain (dummy hahhaa) then o sat on my snow covered mountains to kill him but he top decked his second runed halo a turn later damn.. The game stalled for a mulliom turns, he gaining tons of life with martyr and proclamation, and me waiting for stormbreaths and relics.. I eventually drew 2 dragons, he wasted a wrath of god on a reckoner, thwn on a dragon, so i was certain to win i had 18 land in play with koth ultimate and another koth with 12 counters a mounstrous dragon and he could only loop martyr since he wouldn't be ablw to deal a single point of damage at me, i was using 2 scrying sheets a turn trying to find a relic and i found the first one in my last 5 cards of the deck and he being at 200 life so i conceded. I managed to curve an easy win on game 2 with an early moon, koth and dragon so it was a draw... Damn luck.. I should have won that first game.
Round 3 vs ug infect
One of our best matchups right? Well i lost game one, i had 2 skred and 1 bolt he drew a 4th threat and i got nothing..
On game 2 i played a turn 3 blood moon and he o ly had a breeding pool and a nexus that hit me for 5, hw concedes 2 turns later. On game 3 i kept a hand with 1 anger of thw gods, 1 bolt, 1 skred, 1 ratchet bomb 1 blood moon and 2 mountains... O never got the 3rd land os siman so eventually i died.. Damn again.
Round 4 vs ug infect
I started so played a land thwn he played gitaxian probe i revealed simian, moon and 5 lands he was shocked and promptly went for a forest and played an elf, i went for turn 2. Moon, he hit me for 3 after puttimg a rancor on the elf and leaved one mana open, i drew anger of the gods and played it he showed me apostoles blessing and a groundswell so i conceded. Game 2 i landed the 3rd tuen moon having killed his hierarch and agent before with a simian.. He conceded a turn later. On game 3 i mulled to 6 he played a hierarch that i didnt kill cause i only had one skred he played an elf ñrotected it and empied his hand to kill me, i never drew a 3rd land... Again...
Round 5 vs boros burn
I won game 1 killing every single creatire he played and racing him with koth, unlikely win but not impossible. On game 2 i played a turn 1 dragons claw and ride it for a million turns while drawing 12 or more lands, i never got a single beater, and although i had it color locked with a moon, he got 3 eidolons 3 rift bolts 2 ligbting bolts, 3 goblin guides 3 lava spikes and 1 skullcrack and managed to kill me in the end.. What a disappointment.. I lost game 3 because of guess what? I kwpt a 2 land hand again, with dragons claw and 2 bolts, i never got a 3rd land.. Pfffff
Hey guys, I have been playing this for a while now. I originally started out with a much less serious intent, hence the fact I run demigods solely on the fact that I love that card. Now after playing it for a while I really have come to realize that I do win MOST of my games through koth or koth ultimate. So as much as I always hated the artifact version on here, it is starting to make sense to me. My only problem is I really don't want to cut reckoner because he is way to good in my local meta and has won me way to many games. I am going to post my current list and my plans so maybe you guys can give me some advice or some critique.
Since I was using my own graveyard originally I swapped some things around.
i.e.
-4 Relic +2 molten rain +2 faithless looting
-2 pyromaster +2 flamecaller
These choices were to just protect demigod
I still want to test chandra more and if at all possible i really really want to try and leave reckoner in. Just a very powerful threat in my meta and would helps me curve out more. Also, his interaction with my sweepers, fallout in particular, is just soooo wonderful when I can wipe their board and make them take 4 damage only to then swing for 3. Boardwipe +7 damage is fantastic. So with that in mind, here are my thoughts.
-4 Demigod
-2 Faithless looting
+4 Pia and Kira
+2 Hangarback
I realize with these changes that 5 sweepers probably isn't as neccessary. Especially anger since we are going to have hangarbacks. So maybe -1 anger for +1 batterskull or wurmcoil? Also, is mindstone really that much better than coldheart? I have had zero issues with it coming into play tapped. And just saccing it to draw a card would be nice. But the fact I can draw it off scrying and it is snow for skred has always been relevant.
I have absolutely no experince with this version of the deck. So any and all adivice would be appreciated before I try and pick up these cards to try it out.
Just took Skred to regionals today, went 5-4 after facing the burn matchup for 5 rounds. I won everything else, but I literally cannot beat burn to save the lives of myself or anyone I love. Rounds 1 and 2 were lost to burn, beat BC Eldrazi round 3, beat Hatebears round 4, lost to burn round 5, beat Grixis Control round 6, beat burn round 7, beat hatebears round 8, lost to burn round 9.
I have since realised that Tron is nowhere near the threat that I thought it to be, and I am taking out the crumbles for 2x Golden Urn to help mitigate the life loss in the burn matches.
I also thought bottled cloister would be cute with ensnaring bridge, but it never really helped even against the blue matches. A lot of people brought in Stony silence against me though, so I think I might cut the Mind Stones for one more monkey and like maindeck pithing needle or something? I don't know what those other two slots will be yet.
Anyone have any other tech I could use against burn that they might have trouble interacting with and will come down early?
i'm still 100% positive the kia build will be amazing. just not sure against our new eldrazi overlords. blood moon is too slow against them (unless you're running spirit guide to poop it out very early). curious what @adonis2k and other kia builders feel the way should go now.
If you guys are paper I wouldn't overreact. This is the Pro Tour. This is why there should never be a Pro Tour for modern. WE have no idea how the decks will truly perform in the meta as so many eldrazi decks showed up so not enough testing. The Pro Tour is like one big gold fishing FNM. I say let it play out.
I think dismembers/roast definitely need to be considered. i usually lean towards dismember cause of the instant speed 1-mana kill but roast would also be good. i have 2 open spots right now.
I think the best way to combat the Eldrazi decks may be do divorce yourself from the strict "Skred" build. Roast is your removal of choice, and if you move away from Bolt/Skred, you open yourself up to running Chalices to fight the non-Eldrazi lists. This improves the power of Simian Spirit Guide, which in turn makes early Blood Moon a possibility. Throw in some Ensnaring Bridge to fend off their fatties, Koth/Chandra/Chandra's Parents/Maybe Hangarback/Maybe Eidolon as potential wincons, and you've got the brewings of a list.
Guerrilla Tactics is a card that I have a sneaking suspicion may be worth running in the Eldrazi meta. The ability to Roast a Smasher and discard Tactics to burn out a TKS or other dork as well is sweet. It also doubles as great Liliana hate, as it turns her +1 into a suicide mission.

So your thoughts are to go away from skred into bridge. Wish I could afford the bridges. But tactics seems so much fun
I like wildfire take. If we are going to play chalice ourselves, we forsake skred and bolt. But instead of roast, perhaps we can play shrapnel blast. Pyroclasm and bridge will be good as well. It attacks affinity and eldrazi early drop. As of thought-knot seer, we could avoid it altogether if we can ultimate koth fast enough and lock down the field and win via ultimate. This could be part of a plan to combat the meta.
We need to seriously consider painter's servant against the eldrazi decks. It shuts down their eldrazi temple and their eye of ugin since they both specify colorless eldrazi. Paired with blood moon, it puts them on the average player's mana clock, and they wont be able to dumb their creatures at the rate that they do now. Especially since it is a two drop, it can be popped out on turn 1 with a simian spirit guide. It can fit easily any build, especially the artifact build, we cant ignore this card as an option.

Do you think your build will survive the onslaught of eldrazi?
