I’ve played vs. Martyr with both Counter-cat and Bant Geist. Online I play Engineered Explosives and Ratchet Bomb. Cliques rip away their Proclaimations, and you have spell peirce if they are not careful about their sweepers, if they have em. I use 2 Sword of F&I and those are saucy. It isn’t an easy match-up but well placed PtE on their Pridemates buys you a lot of time, and as long as your deck is doing it’s thing you can take the match.
Isn't a proclamation in hand with a martyr continually reusable and uncounterable once they reach 7 mana? That is always where I ran into trouble because unless they tap out for martyr you can't path it so only clique semi fixes your problem.
Has anyone done much testing against the Cawblade or Delver decks?

I think he means Linvala stops Martyr Proc in its tracks. It certainly stops Martyr, herself, but it does not stop triggered abilities, so it does nothing against Delver, Caw, or soul sisters.
Honestly, the funniest solution to Martyr Proc would probably be siding in Inkmoth Nexus and attaching a sword to it each turn. SoLaS would be ideal. Haha. Not terribly realistic, but I'd love to see it.
Rdw has always given me issues as my dork never lasts and we all know the martyr mu.
The beauty, and perhaps irony, of this statement is that RDW is one of the decks keeping Martyr out of the mainstream on the PTQ circuit. It just annihilates it. I know it's supposed to do well against aggro, but RDW just maindecks too many answers these days. Stigma Lasher alone is game over.
I really don't see martyr as anything other than a gimmick deck. There are major decks in the format which win by dealing infinite damage, Martyr simply can't beat those.

There is a UWB control variant that's a bit scary, running hawks with swords. Essentially a Martyr-blade deck. It's picking up some steam.
Martyr itself is only unreasonable if you're playing mono-white, though. If your hand is full of blue and black cards it's not that impressive.
I haven't seen any Martyr decks running blue (yet...), but there is a WBr variant that I've played against a few times that runs Tidehollow Sculler, Castigate and Hide // Seek, so it's still monowhite in the sense that all its cards are white.

As I said vs. Martyr Clique is your best friend. Their life gain is huge but so can be your clock. If you are worried about their long game play Sword of Feast & Famine. It neuter’s their hand. IMHO their life gain is really @ it’s best when they stick Ajani’s Pridemate. The time they gain from life gain, backed by a huge clock, is a good play. Otherwise it’s just delaying the inevitible.
I’ve had a person gain over 100 life vs. me and get beaten down in the long run. Playing a MD R source and sbing Combust (for Twin) and Sulpher Elemental (Tokens/Martyr) could be decent. Also gives you access to Ancient Grudge as well. I personally tho try to make my mana base as bullet proof as possible. Adding a 4th colour would prob. have to be over a basic, and having it destroyed, cutting off your sb cards would suck pretty bad.
@Gnome: I know you’re all in on Linvala, but when you are using her to for longer then single turns it gives your opponent the opportunity to draw/cast Path to Exile. I’ve run into her vs. Pod a few times where they try to shut down Knight, and I would just cast path. Soft Locks are soft. Not saying she’s not awesome, just that she really needs to be backed with other stuff.
Man... I would kill to be able to play Mental Misstep in this format. Would settle for Ancestral Visions too

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here, because obviously you have other spells in your deck.
Yeah wrath effects have all but exited from sb. I wish I had Goyfs to play with this list. I was thinking strangleroot Geist or meddling Mage as replacements? Idk

Nah, don't think of it as trying to fill a 2cc slot, try to fill the role goyf fills: big dumb beats. With 8 mana dorks, another 3-drop would fill that slot easily. Probably Mirran Crusader or KotR. Also, would you be able to provide a source for that decklist?
This format is so HUGE (not Legacy huge, but still like twice as big as extended) that a deck not having a history doesn't mean it isn't viable. There's just no way everything has been discovered. I wouldn't let something like this discourage you.
That Troll/Worship angle is pretty interesting, though.
Okay, here is a proto-type list melding the Troll angle with mine. It's less aggressive and more midrangey than the Premier version, but that might fit my area's PTQ meta more readily.
I tried conscription and it was just plain bad. Sovereigns and Conscription are both bad cards in anything other than narrow circumstances, they're way too often dead. It's nice to be able to have a giant attacker out of nowhere every once in a while, but it's not worth the trade-off in having terrible draws. If you want to go the surprise giant guy route Angelic Destiny seems better anyway. It's easier to cast and does almost as much in the deck, plus freeing up deck slots for more interactive cards.
It hits twin and exarch. It does affect KotR and the pridemage but affects more than one deck as a single SB slot..

Would you care to expand?
I think we should come up with a list of the competitive meta and what this deck does well against, Okay against and awful against.
It seems we do good against jund.
Rdw has always given me issues as my dork never lasts and we all know the martyr mu. What else can people fill in?
