My shackles never got grudged, but it did get pulsed right after it came down every time I played it against my one jund. Even if it got pulsed the turn after it came down, it still did a lot for me, stealing a goyf in response to the pulse to buy a turn or stealing a BBE to kill a Liliana. You can't just play one of the best cards in the format because they might have removal for it. It's two cards in your entire deck and if they have it when you have it, you're just behind a little. If they don't have it when you have it, the game is just over and if they have it and you don't, well they have a dead card.
Gifts rites was there for me to smash all kikijiki decks and other random fair creature decks that aren't jund and it did that for me. It allows you to just wait against twin and pod since if they're on the play, you have no real opportunity to establish a clock unless you draw resto.

Right.I see.
Then, why don't you employ Traft? Because of absence of Swords?
I'm worried about lack of punch power.
i also think on the same lines as resum about shackles, but im not sure i would cut the swords for them. One or two swings with a sword usually mean game too.
Im a bit curious, why the lone remand? wouldnt a 4th leak be better?
I didn't run Geist because the matchups where geist shines (tron, twin, storm, etc), i'm extremely afraid of tapping out on turn 3 to play him so I felt that the card that would be better more often would be finks against the creature decks.
Swords and shackles are both very possible, but it's a lot easier to interact with swords as creature and artifact removal effect it's ability to impact the game. A split might be what's actually correct, but you can't really run more than 2 artifacts main or you start losing important slots for spells or creatures.
The singleton remand is because sometimes you just need the time it buys or just a hard counter. Like against storm and past in flames a remand is just brutal.
How about vs tron matchup?
I can find only one edge in sideboard.
Is it enough?
And I'm afraid of losing life of 2 Dismember even if you employ Kitchen Finks in mainboard.
You have 4 Path to Exile and 2 Shackles, and I suppose you have too much remove spell.
Of course if you presume there are many creature decks in your playing environment, you may well use these many remove spell.
On my list i play 3 tectonic edge mb and 2 surgical on sb, so tron is rarely a problem for me, but with just one edge on sb i could see it being a bit harder to deal with.
Still, tron´s main weapon is the T3-4 Karn, and that rarely gets trough your counters, so it shouldnt be THAT bad.
I found a list of Restoration Control using Shackles instead of Swords.
In my opinion,I don't like Serum Vision and Echoing Truth in mainboard, but this list seems interesting for me.
Especially,I like Familiar's Ruse.
Some RUG Delver lists employ Deprive, but Ruse may be better for this decks.
In this site, Restoration control isn't classified clealy, so it may be difficult for you to search lists. Some lists are classified as Fairies,Next Level Blue,Caw-Blade or UW/x Control.
Shackles has god like power right now I'd think. Id always choose shackles over sword, until the meta shifts off creatures a bit.
We have some alternatives when we use Restoration control,e.g.what creatures we use(Vendy or Finks? Sprite?), what artrifacts(Swords or Shacles), and how about sideboard?
But these problems depend on what?
Of course the meta we presume.
That is,it may be time to decide what meta we presume.
In my opinion,we can refer results of GP Columbus and Yokohama.
I think the meta is this:
Hmmm...what would we do?
No doubt tier 1 is occupied with creature decks.
But we sholudn't forget that the modern meta is really flat.
Top tier decks(Affinity in Yokohama and Naya Pod in Columbus)didn't occupy more than 20%.At most between 15 and 18%.
Because of this,I think we have to presume flat metagames and make flexible decks.
Considering this,in my opinion,
1: I'd like to choose Sword instead of Shackles.Of course Shackles have great power, but it's limited when we match with creature decks.
2:I like Sprite and Vendy than main Finks. Finks are amazing in creature decks matchup, but if it isn't so,I think they are not good.
How many of you are just dead set on the 3-4 geist main? ive been playing around with it (with swords over shackles) and have been pleased, but i wondered if there is a better alternative (all finks are in my board now, 2 cliques main, though that fluctuates). I have been very happy with the deck, but I feel like the Geist could be better utilized or replaced with something better (I feel like I end up on my backfoot or unable to tap out during the course of the game)

The number of main Geist depends on whether you employ Swords or not.
No doubt Geist is a great attacker, but he is very fragile in battle because of his toughness.
Then I think we have to use Geist with Sword, or Shackles without Geist.
In my opinion,we don't have to use both Geist and Shackles because I think they play a same roll in the main board, that is,a 3 mana unremovable attacker.
You have 6 colorless sources, that's one too many from my experience. You also only have 12 islands or ways to get islands. I would at least cut moorland haunt for an island/fetch and maybe a seachrome for a fetch as well.
If you are not playing swords mb, so geist is compeltely unnecesary here.
We are not a tempo deck, having a clock doesnt help at all on our game plan, and you really dont want to tap out at T3 to play him.
Also, i agree with resum, 6 colorless are too many.
Thanks for advice, guys.
After ton of testing, I decided to give up Shackles and to use Sword.
I realize a problem of 6 colorless lands. But if we don't use Shuckles, I think it's enough.Actually, during many matches, I'm seldom worried about this.
This is what I've been playing, I think you might all enjoy it. Been very successful recently, and very much have enjoyed the power of restoration angel + faerie cards.
Chinese Taipei in the finals playing this deck. Their version looks pretty cool. First time I've seen a restoration decks run no leaks and only remands

No leaks is pretty common. Most decks would want Spell Pierce instead anyway.
They are running Spell Snare and Cryptic Command. This is a control deck that wants hard counters. Remand cantrips and works like a hard counter sometimes (Into the Breach), esp with Snapcaster it can gain card advantage.
Also I've moved this thread to Uxx control and merged it with the more commonly named "Restoration" deck.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
This really isnt a control deck. It is firmly in the Tempo/Midrange category. While this deck has a slightly longer game than the delver decks in the format it doesnt really aim for the long game and doesnt really have a long game plan (other than playing dudes and bashing). This deck is very different to the squadron hawk strategy. this is basically just a UW faeries deck without most of the faeries.
Categorising control by what counterspells it plays is a pretty weak argument, and this deck plays all tempo counterspells anyway so there was no reason to move this thread to the control forum.
^ Totally agree with that. Stating a deck is "tempo" cause it runs remand, or control if it runs leak seems silly to me.
IMO, UW restoration aims to get the game under control until turn 6 with at least 4/5 lands, drop an evasive threat like angel or vendilion and swing with a sword 1 or 2 times FTW.

I'd classify it as 'Midrange-Control'. And either way, it's a far cry from Delver or Tempo or Aggro-Control. Not with the incremental CA engines and slower game-plan. It's not on the 'Tempo' side of the circle by any means. It's more aptly classified as Control. Imo, anyways. And i think a lot of the SCD that could happen in this Sub-Forum is much more conducive than the Tempo sub-forum.
For example; throwing Gifts-Rites in this deck isn't necessarily GOOD, but it could possibly warrant discussion, and it's something to be discussed in the subforum. But, a Gifts-Rites thread in the Tempo Subforum seems like a horrible idea.
And come on man, Baneslayer Angel? How does that not scream "This is NOT Tempo" to you? =P

in terms of aggro-control-ness of it, its definitely on the more controlling side.
