What is a better sideboard card, fulminator mage or molten rain? For my list I run a LtLH main and the K-Commands. Molten Rain triggers Young Peezy and Bedlam Reveler but Fulminator mage can block, then sac and be revived much easier. Am I still the only one whos on blood moons? I have won so may games with them and I dont think that I could cut them for white. And what about Pack Rat instead of rabblemaster???
I may test a small number of Flame of the Keld in my list. We get to hell-bent quickly anyway, plus zerging with a bunch of elementals +2 dmg each seems fun.
Will probably be too slow for many match ups but still could be a way to speed up the clock.
So the reason I play molten rain over Fulminator Mage is because I like to be able to hit basic lands in decks such Jund or jeskai. If decks are able to play around blood moon it makes it harder for mardu to get an edge. I really like the synergy of Fulminator Mage, k command and Liliana, the last hope but for now I’m sticking to molten rain.

Little angel, go away come again some other day the Devil has my ear today I'll never hear a word you say. He promised I would find a little solace and some peace of mind. Whatever. just as long as I don't feel so desperate and ravenous.
Recorded a single match on MTGO today and uploaded it to YouTube. Haven't found the time to record or stream another full league, but I'm hoping to get something like that uploaded by the end of next week. Until then, enjoy my latest video: [MODERN] One & Done - Mardu Pyromancer vs. UB Mill.
For those interested in my card choices as compared to my previous videos, I have cut Manamorphose because of Thalia, Guardian of Thraben and Humans isn't going anywhere. It feels like a liability to me. Second, I have trimmed Hazoret the Fervent from the SB in favor of 2 Goblin Rabblemaster. I know many people have said they really like Rabblemaster as a clock and that 3cmc > 4cmc, so I'm giving it a try. This was my first match with it, but I will say that I liked it when I drew it.
If you wanna see more Mardu Pyro videos, look around the videos on my channel. I've got plenty more, just haven't had the time to record a lot recently (because university). Thanks!

So I went 4-2 at a pptq today. Finished 14th.
Round 1: defeated mono red prison 2-0. I mainly remember that I got several 2 for 1’s and my opponent was grinder out.
Round 2: I lost 0-2 to hardened scales. My friend had better draws than I did and won pretty quickly.
Round 3: defeated u/w control 2-0. I got pretty lucky that both games taking search for azcanta turn 1 both games. Game 2 my opponent flooded pretty bad.
Round 4: I lost 1-2 to blue moon. Very grindy games. Game 3 I took an electrolyze over a dispel and next turn I drew a fatal push and wasn’t able to take out his thing in the ice.
Round 5: defeated humans 2-0. My opponent mulled and flooded. Blood moon both games locked him out early. Game 2 I ultimate Liliana, the last hope. Forgot my emblem token at home. Really annoyed with myself.
Round 6: defeated u/w miracles 2-1. I say miracles because my friend also plays entreat the angels. I should have scooped sooner in game 1 because he finally kills me with 16 minutes left in the round. Game 2 I mull to five and slam blood moon then hazoret. Game 3 my friend turn two ghost quarters my blackcleave cliffs and doesn’t draw another land before I play blood moon and molten rain his basic plains. Kambal did serious work against the control decks. I was very skeptical at first but watching my round 3 opponent play all these cantrips sealed the deal in my mind. Wish I had played better in my loses. Deck still feels great.

If ppl need a clock how about butcher of the horde? Ive been playing with a one of and its been pretty good with the discard suite to get rid of the removal.
Ive also seen kolghan the storms fury? What do you guys think about these?
I've considered Butcher a time or two. My big hang-up is that it's 4 Mana and doesn't have an immediate effect when it's played. Sure it can be given haste if you have a creature to sac, but that won't always be the case. Most people don't main Hazoret and she has haste and indestructible.
As for kolaghan 5 Mana is just too much for a deck with only 20 lands. We'll eventually get there if the game goes really long, but anything over 4 Mana seems far too unreliable.
I feel like the new Assassin's Trophy might push BGx decks to be more powerful than ours unfortunately. Its a better card than Terminate or Dreadbore which are our unconditional removal spells. What do ya'll think?

Are you too good for ego issues? If so call 1-800-EGOS, that's 1-800-EGOS. Call 1-800-EGOS today!
After seeing Assasin’s Trophy, I’m hopeful that mardu will get something sweet! I’m sure people are going to try it out so I expect to see a bit more b/g/x decks after this. I think mardu will be fine in the long run.

Finished up another stream this morning doing a full comp league with Mardu Pyromancer, similar build to the recent GP but not exactly the same. I wanted to try out the basic Plains tech to see what the hype was about. I'm still unsure of its necessity, but it didn't hinder me in any match and was always an option if I needed it for any reason. Not convinced, but I don't hate it.
Gonna just insert myself here and say that if you want to catch my streams live, please consider following me on Twitch at twitch.tv/olagziel.
Second, if you didn't catch the stream, consider watching the VOD on my YouTube channel (and subscribe if you like the content and want more). You can find the link to this morning's VOD here: Mardu Pyromancer Full Modern Competitive League.

I need your help about one particular MU : Bant Spirits.
I've played a lot of matches against Spirits and never got a chance to win (not a game even though some of them were really close).
I'd like to know what you think about this MU, what's your plan pre side and post side, if you have some tips/piece of advice...
Sideboard
1 Ensnaring Bridge
2 Nihil Spellbomb
1 Fulminator Mage
1 Molten Rain
2 Lightning Helix
1 Surgical Extraction
2 Wear
2 Kambal, Consul of Allocation
1 Liliana, the Last Hope
1 Nahiri, the Harbinger
1 Anger of the Gods
(Bant and UW) Spirits seems both very bad match-ups for us. I even loose games with perfect hands... I only won the games where i could discard the enemies geist of sain traft and/or where my opponent mulligans to 6 or even 5... they just play more creatures than we can handle and even anger does not much against selfless spirit or pumped 4/4 spirits. Additionally our pyromancer army cant block the fliers. The best matches for me also were the "company" matches where my opponent played t1 noble hirach and had a company in hand that i could discard and maybe was stuck one some aether vials. When they have a powerfull start with 1-drop, lord, lord, image we cant do ***** :/

So my advices:
- Don't keep slow hands
- We have to hope that they don't have a perfect start anyway
- An Anger of the gods in the right moment can save some game
- (Almost) Always discard Geist of St
- Always prepare for combat shenanigans (aether vial, rattlechains)
Bant spirits has also been giving me trouble. I usually side in 2 ensnaring bridge, engineered explosives and Liliana, the last hope. My plan lately has been to hide behind the bridge and kill them using tokens and hazoret. I know that most bant spirits decks run Rest In Peace in the board so I will usually side out 1 or 2 bedlam reveler. I can’t remember what else I side out off the top of my head. Maybe 2 inquisition of Kozilek.

Thanks guys, at least I know it's a quite hard MU now and I'm not the only one struggling with it.
But we should be able to win it more often though, I don't know what the stats are but personally I literally never won a single game.
Maybe with another SB plan ? Is 3 Ensnaring Bridge too much in the SB ? Maybe we can rely on Damnation or something like that and add tutors (Infernal Tutor ?), what do you think, would it be too slow ?
I think tutor and damnation are a bit on the slow side. Especially infernal tutor. Damnation may be good but you have to worry about selfless spirit. I’m on 2 ensnaring bridge currently. If your meta warrants having 3 then by all means try it out. Otherwise, 2 could be a good number. I’ve also been getting unlucky against elves. More specifically, shaman of the pack.

Assassin's trophy may be a house in standard and could warrant some legacy play but in modern the card is for almost all intents and purposes outclassed by Abrupt Decay. Jund and Abzan would only want to play it as a means to disrupt Tron on turn 2 on the draw, but I don't see it being more than a Sideboard card for them.
