That seems like a lot of red sources of mana for just BBE. I really don't like Blackcleave cliffs over Blooming Marsh when you literally cannot spend red mana on turns 1-3.
I agree there’s a lot of red source, but it’s not just for BBE, need red for raging ravine too. I’m thinking of 2-2 or 1-3 blackcleave cliffs and blooming marsh split.. still unsure which would be correct..

It's pretty definitely 4x Blooming Marsh. You don't need red until t4 at the earliest and you want black/green as early as possible with Double black liliana, Abrupt decay, Maelstrom Pulse, and Scooze taking multiple green.
To be honest though the value of Lingering Souls is about even with Kologhans Command so if you are going to go with red you'd be a lot better off dropping souls and going full on Jund.
That’s true.. guess goodbye to abzan and hello to jund for me then..
You can always still splash white. It used to be popular for Jund to splash white for Ajani Vengeant/Lingering Souls. The main reason being that Jund centric got the better man lands (Raging Ravine) and better generic hits off BBE (Lightning Bolt). Particularly since you can always discard souls to lily you only need like one Temple Garden/ one Godless Shrine with your fetches for such a small splash.
I still run a list with 3 Field of ruin and just 3 Lingering Souls main and 2 Stony side (comparable to Reid Duke's list).
I am 19-2 with the list so far in paper tournaments. By the way 7-1 vs. BG Tron.
EE can be 3rd Thoughtseize and Shambling Vent can be a Plains if you want to play it a bit safer.
In testing, I have big trouble vs. Humans (especially the Coco versions). I successfully played Humans myself for a while and I think the deck is just more powerful right now. I totally disagree with the primer that the matchup is in our favor.
How do you approach the matchup and how do you board? I have now 1 EE main. 2 Damnation side and it is definitely not enough. Mirran Crusader is a big problem.

It's true that used to be popular, but a large part of that was the fact Deathrite Shaman was legal and its mana fixing made it much easier to go into 4 colors.
Blood Moon, Field of Ruin, Leonin Arbiter, Spreading Seas, Smallpox...there are a lot of ways in modern to punish mana greedy lists. Even burn punishes you for having more fetches and shocks.

In a kind way, would yall be willing to take a look at this idea? In theory it takes one of Jadine's old Abzan Traverse builds and swaps liliana's(I know it sounds crazy but isnt great vs BBE and Jace) for 4 Knight of the reliquary to make the deck go just a bit faster.

I have been playing the Abzan Traverse version of G/Bx for quite some time. I see that KoR is a good card but mot entirely sure it has a place here though, but it does have my attention.
I have been playing 1 Glissa, the Traitor and 1 Anafenza, the Foremost with Traverse shell is funny. Glissa has have me play Bauble at least 5 to 7 times a game while Anafenza pumps my Rogue Fairy and Spirit tokens. And what does a JtMS deck do against Eldritch Moon Emmy?
New primer is legitimate. Stoked to see all my numbers are well within the parameters of the mentioned deck lists. Much appreciated as far as all the work put into this. It will definitely be the primer I visit most often as Abzan is my current main deck.
I just printed the sideboard guide as it's going to be extremely helpful. So many times I'm on the fence about a certain card in a particular match-up.

Is Anguished Unmaking worth trying out since it’s an instant speed way to deal with JtMS?

Little angel, go away come again some other day the Devil has my ear today I'll never hear a word you say. He promised I would find a little solace and some peace of mind. Whatever. just as long as I don't feel so desperate and ravenous.

Why in Abzan Shadow and not plain Abzan? Utter End is 4 mana option that doesn’t cost any life.
Well 4 mana os a bit high, but Abzan shadow as it gets Shadow Bigger. Although Hero's Downfall is great with Thoughtseize AND surgical extraction for fighting JtMS and BBE along with all other combo decks then yeah. But Maelstrom Pulse is great still and Thrun....
Anguished Unmaking is a little bit more versatile than Hero’s Downfall. I like that Anguished Unmaking can take out an nonland permanent at instant speed. I was also thinking that Thrun will be good. I still have one in my board.

Thas not Abzan anymore at this point, its Jund splashing for Souls, which you could discuss in the Jund thread.

I was just sitting here thinking the same thing. But I would look into playing that in an Abzan Death's Shadow list maybe.
