I'd be willing to try out Unearth if the meta wants us to be grindy. Cycling rocks.
And if it's been Scoured already, Snap-maging into Unearth to reanimate a Death's Shadow or Jace, Vryn's Prodigy seems strong. Could be fun with Seasoned Pyromancer, too—especially when in Hellbent mode. I like the options, and it feels grindy alright.
As it stands though I have too few flex spots to consider a spot in the 75. I'll keep it in the GDS toolbox for now, but I'd love to give it a shot soon.
I used to play Claim//Fame back in 2017 up until GP Madrid. It was really good. It felt a bit awkward at times but it helped grind out some other BGx decks and Jeskai, while also contributing to a surprise kill against some creature based decks.
It's on of my pet cards in this archtype along with Rise//Fall that I sometimes use(d) when the meta/tournament asks for it.
Unearth is more generally playable but it the +2/+0 haste angle that Claim//Fame has is really neat and I don't think it's better than Cycling.

Currently Playing: WUMiracles ControlUW RUBGrixis Death's ShadowBUR
Faced Izzet Phoenix (2-1), Bant Spirits (2-0), G-Tron (2-0) and the new AltarVine (2-1).
I’ll state that again: if we want to grind, it’s better to play a different deck. We have to kill the opponent fast while disrupting him. Nothing more than that. I had some very ankward results with the ‘standàrd’ list (a pair of 2-3) cause Snapcaster Mage feels so out of the meta right now, between him being slow and the amount of Surgical/Relic maindecked.
List feels good. Dunno if it’s better than the last one I tried (heavy on Delve threats) but it runs smoothly and bypass Grave hate.
UW has been a fairly positive matchup, while URx variants tend to be more difficult.
Pia and Kiran Nalaar are meant to have a shot against Lily decks. They’re by far your worst matchup preboard, and BGx have a hard time dealing with it when you’re not already in a losing position. Obviously they’re also good vs Control, but if you want to have another edge specifically with them I would go for Crackling Drake.
I’m still meddling with the list. As of late I played UR Bloo quite intensively, but now that Affinity and Burn are underplayed I’m not sure it’s still better than going Grixis. Humans is a nightmare, though.
The opposite. With the addition of Shadow Humans becomes worse, and so Affinity, Dredge/Altarvine, Burn (which is still decent) and any aggressive strategy. BGx, Combo and Ux Control becomes better. It’s basically a matter of the expected metagame.
So has anybody tried to rebuild GDS and/or incorporate Dreadhorde Arcanist in the deck? Or has everyone switched over to esper?
I'm really interested in trying out Rotting Regisauser + Arcanist and Unearh (yeah i may have been wrong when evaluating that card earlier) over Angler and some copies of Snapcaster and Scour but i don't have the time to test anything atm..

"Of course you should fight fire with fire. You should fight everything with fire."
There’s nothing wrong with it. But I believe that making this deck even less resilient to Leyline of the Void and Rest In Peace isn’t exactly where you want to be at.
What's up everyone. While shadow (at least the grixis variant) is on a downtick at the moment I feel like the deck will be primed for success after some possible BnR announcements shake up the metagame once again.
Because the future (of both modern and mtgs) is unknown feel free to continue the conversation over at discord, where if you feel like grixis is not at the best meta placement you can ask around about other variants of the deck.
I've already done it, I love Rotting Regisaur. The disadvantage of cards can be tricky but 9/10 times I prefer to see it in my opening hand over Shadow. Less tax on my graveyard allows me to use Unearth and I'm currently testing out 1 Logic Knot.
I'd love to see your list! Unearth is one of the main reasons I think the dinosaur could work since it doesn't eat your graveyard and also can reanimated, both unlike Angler. Also a 7/6 is a lot scarier with TBR! I'm thinking to try something like:
Modern // Legacy // Pauper

"Of course you should fight fire with fire. You should fight everything with fire."
Claim//fame isnt played because it is a dead card when you dont have shadow//jace//snap in the graveyard.
Cycling change everything.
I Guess.

EDIT: I posted the wrong manabase, adjusted.
I think it’s really apripriate for the Meta.
How do you think it will fare against control decks and what’s your plan? Is that what the P&k are for?

Humans is more manageable with grixis than bloo I’m guessing?
For GDS humans is super tough so I was hoping the inclusion of TiTi would help there.
