Yea the Jund player vs GDS made some poor sideboard decisions imo. BBE is what swings games in our favor, especially in matchups where card advantage matters. I never want to side it out against fair decks.
And as for Surgical Extraction, I think it is one of the most overrated cards to be played. Even when I was playing Abzan, I was never excited to see it unless paired with Fulminator or discard of a core combo piece. Decks have become so resilient in recent times, where I don’t see the card putting in much work, especially against consistent fair decks like GDS.
Surgical a Snap Mage target? Seems cute, but it’s by no means devastating to their plan. They have many, many other means to come back. If you want Snap Mage/graveyard hate, play Spellbomb. That at least hoses their entire gy so they can’t play their delve creatures or recur a creature with K-command; and it can be a cantrip if nothing else.
Surgical is not graveyard hate, it is combo hate; and is tempo and card DISadvantage for yourself. As mentioned, it is a HORRIBLE topdeck, and I do NOT want bad topdecks against decks like GDS.

That cant be right, but I like the list way more than the other clunky Jund list. Honestly, people are starting to be quite cheeky about the manabases and manacurves. No respect to the old rules

I would rather Surgical Snapcaster himself, but still, I don't bring it in in the first place.
Surgical is probably the most overboarded sideboard card in modern.
This is a question my simulator can answer with minimal modifications (a good thing because I'm in the process of totally rewriting it). If there's enough interest I would be able to feed it decks of various mana curves and charting damage taken per turn/game so you can get an idea of what a single 5 drop does to you.
Wait, I’m confused. Are we talking about game one? I thought Jadine lost game one because she used her last G to eat a creature and bring Jim down to 1. And her up to 9, which left her completely open for Snap-Bolt, swing Snap and Colonnade?

Oh man, that was super lucky. Unless I missed something (which is a real possibility), Jadine was completely tapped out and was at 6 life after the snapped Lightning Bolt, with a Snapcaster and Colonnade representing a lethal 6 damage on Jim’s following turn. Did he just math super wrong and scoop, thinking she had more life than she did?? That’s pretty sweet she’s in the top 8, regardless

No, Jadine miscaluted, not Jim. She forgot to put a +1/+1 counter on Ooze, which would have been lethal (she activated the Ooze, but didn't put the counter on it). Technically you can miss that one in that case and just loose, but Jim conceded to her in good sportsmanship.
Jadine should be in a great position to win that whole thing, since she has a good matchup against Infect and Storm is likely to get to the semis as well. Tron should be out of the way.
Only problem could be E-Tron or Ponza potentially. But I don't know if she will be facing the winner of those two decks if she wins.
Blossoming Defense was available to Infect pre Probe Ban as well for a period of time, I don't think its therefore worse now compared to the past.
It's worse when we're not playing as many Fatal Push and Terminate as we used. Even then those matches were kind of tense. I also feel that we're losing some percentage points against Affinity in game 1 as well now.

Also, do you guys feel any different about her list with her making top 8, or is it just too strange to play 1x K Command, 2x Decays, etc?
Yep. Well, she simply had to resolve the Ooze activation completely, which she forgot.
Also, a classic matchup like that from the pre probe ban era is awesome!
