I agree with pzbw7z here, Despark is probably far too specific to actually make our deck much better than it currently is. Sure it'll help a bit vs Tron, but it still will be a horrible matchup and it'll take a way sideboard slots in our already overfilled sideboards which we need to fight vs other decks.
Despark is another near miss. If it had been three instead of four, it would have been a new staple.
after more thought, yea damping sphere already covers that base and then some. In the case of tron prevention is better than cure anyway.
I like having 3 alpine moons and 3 stony silence in my sideboard.
Damping Sphere alone is barely a speed bump for G or GR Tron. They can still cast Oblivion Stone on turn-three and blow it on turn-five. Few of us - I feel confident in saying - run R, but Alpine Moon is equally vulnerable. It might even fix early color screw for them if they can't find a G for Ancient Stirrings or a R for Pyroclasm.
Damping Sphere alone will hose U Tron pretty effectively, but for normal G or GR Tron, Stony Silence is still needed.
Of course, destroying a land and extracting or extirpating it is the surest means of keeping them off of Tron, but BW has fewer tools to do that than BGx.

Isn't this all why its a horrible match up? I got my butt handed to me this friday night on my Mardu tokens deck. Never mind siding moon - if you don't manage to mull to it or draw it, it doesn't matter anyway. I'm sick of stony silence doing nothing for me - it stops map and o stone, OK. But instead they drew scrying or stirrings. And planeswalkers. Great. I've stacked T1 alpine moon into T2 stony silence - he draws tron naturally and nature's claims my moon and proceeds to smash anyway.
I wish they'd restrict one of the tron lands. LOL

Gx Tron players sometimes run Nature's Claim main-deck now. It can still be tough for them to get G with Stony Silence in play, but if they can use their artifacts, Alpine Moon or Blood Moon alone isn't going to get it done.
The card that may well get the boot is Ancient Stirrings, I don't really think anything else in Tron is on the radar for bannings.
I think so. It only makes one token, which then grows. That means it doesn't even benefit from something like Intangible Virtue and Sorin, Solemn Visitor as much as other cards do.
Also the token has no keywords (at least for 6 turns after the one you play this), so it could very easily be chump-blocked.
The 3 huge strikes against this card are as follows;
1. Intangible virtue grants *each* token +1/+1. This card will only ever benefit once at most from our most powerful anthem. Bitterblossom produces 2 power each turn with virtue out, while this only continues to produce 1.
2. A single spot removal can erase all progress. Fatal push, path, terminate, even a single Reflector Mage trigger will feel horrible.
3. Same downside as bitterblossom minus the flying AND the multiple bodies means you can get chumped - while you bleed to death.

I am testing the new Dovin as a sideboard card, I played a few matches vs ad nauseum and it shined giving me 2 full turns to win.
I am going to test it vs Phoenix, UW control and other combo matchups, maybe even vs Burn, the loyalty ability is quite relevant vs burn and Phoenix and in the worst case they waste to two cards and two turns removing it.

Glad to see I'm not alone on this. Back to the trade binder with you then.
I've seen discussion about a red splash in this forum for various reasons, but never seen any about Shared animosity and I always wanted to try it. Concentrating on spirit tokens with Lingering, procession and Midninght haunting (Possibly Promise of Bunrei too). It also gives us access to pretty much the whole Mardu pyromancer's toolkit too.
T2: Intangible; T3 procession; T4 shared animosity leads to 12 damage.
But, that's assuming we want more anthems in our deck. Maybe it's just the burn player inside me wanting the deck to be more aggresive than it can or should be.

Another card that gives you a similar-ish outcome is Rally the Peasants. What's fun about red is you get access to Faithless Looting which will now work together with souls and rally for some crazy value.
I splash play red too, but I'm putting Emrakul or Iona on the board turn 3 or 4 instead of playing more anthems. Lots of possibilities once you add another color, really.

Yep, this seems like i'd be really good for our deck. Unfortunately I expect these lands to explode in price. Idk if another expensive land cycle preventing entry to the format is really what modern needed...

Pre-sale price for Silent Clearing is only $29.99 at StarCity!
BTW, is that a lame-ass name for a Magic Card? It makes me think of Silent Night!
Buget restrictions aside, do we just jam 4 of these into our manabase guaranteed?
We have a lot of painful cards like Thoughtseize and Bitterblossom already...The answer is very likely still yes, bc the deck is so starved for card draw, right?

It's not an automatic four-of. Many GWx decks eschew Horizon Canopy altogether. The desks that I can think of that run four Canopies don't run fetches at all or significant other life-drainers. GW Hatebears run Temple Gardens, but no fetches, Humans run no other pain. There are very likely decks that I'm not aware of that run pain of all sorts plus Canopies, but I only know what I know, you know?
I don't know if a Bitterblossom build can support four of these. These aren't Caves of Koilos; they don't make any pain-free mana. A Raise the Alarm build can probably get away with three or maybe even four. If I ran BB, I'd start with two.
hey everryone i dont play b/w tokens but i play a mono white tokens deck i built myself played in two modern challenges this past weekend at the open and went undefeatedin 8 rounds of magic. so mono white has legs! bad matchups are big mana decks although tron has gotten better as their maindeck has gotten slower against us when using the new karn
There's still hope for Vindicate.

3 minimum, maybe 4. The only bad part is we can't choose one of the modes twice.
