It's hard to find maindeckable artifact/enchantment hate in RUG colours. I guess there's Viridian Zealot and Acidic Slime?
In Naya, you get Qasali Pridemage, and in Jund, you get Maelstrom Pulse/Abrupt Decay. I'm considering swapping my singleton Pulse for a Decay, but Decay does nearly nothing against RG Valakut Ramp while at least Pulse hits Primeval Titan.

I would hardly consider Harmonic Sliver maindeckable, a 1/1 disenchant for 3 isn't what the deck wants. If you're in Naya, Pridemage is much better as it's disenchant is an activated ability so you can threaten it while still being a 2/2 with exalted to help win goyf wars. That being said, I'm still not a fan of Naya Loam as I believe Confidant provides necessary card advantage after we've set up Seismic Assault and are Loaming every turn. If you're going to play Naya you might as well take out the cute Assault Loam combo and just play Big Zoo.
The format is riddled with creature removal. Path, Bolt and Lightning Helix are way too prevalent to make Trygon Predator reliable hate. When I made my comment about including MB enchantment hate, it is just that I have noticed that there are problematic enchantments and artifacts for us that would be better to have an answer for. Things like Oblivion Ring, Blood Moon, AEther Vial, and now Prismatic Omen among other corner case cards like Spreading Seas. We have a very demanding color base and being disrupted can really hurt our ability to cast our spells on time. Abrupt Decay in the Jund lists is nice because you can float your colors in response to a Blood Moon, then blow it up after it has resolved. Naya does have Pridemage which has other uses and is just a strong card in general. RUG doesn't have a nice catch all, I like Nature's Claim though as it is cheap and easy to keep up.
So anyways, I was posing the question to see if you guys have issues with enchantments/artifacts like I do. I guess I was hoping to find out what sort of methods you all have for dealing with these things and other discussion along those lines.
Basically the only enchantment hate I have in my 75 are 3 Nature's Claims in the board which have been pretty reliable thus far, useful against everything except Blood Moon, mostly because I have a single forest in the deck and every other green source is nonbasic. On the plus side, blood moon helps me set up seismic assault so it's kind of a double-edged sword. Either way if I think it's coming I'll fetch a forest.
In light of the recent debate about artifact/enchantment hate, does anyone think that running Abrupt Decay over Nature's Claim is a good idea? It seems to me that Abrupt Decay is better with few exceptions as it can generally hit all of the permanents we want to hit with Nature's Claim plus it doubles as removal for creatures that we might not want to waste our lands on. The biggest downside is that Abrupt Decay costs 2 mana whereas Nature's Claim costs 1. I don't know about any of you but most of the time I stop at 3 lands when I'm piloting this deck to A) avoid Tec Edge and B) to kill my opponent with them so that might hinder us a bit. Thoughts?
Nature's Claim is a turn faster than Abrupt Decay and you generally don't care about your opponent's life until you go for it in one big chunk.

It placed 5th out of 35. I like lotleth and zombie infestation, i think they add some intresting interactions. I'd probobly add in gravecrawlers over dryad arbor, and would even go so far as to lower the land count by 2 to get 4 crawlers.
Edit: I just remembered that arbor is recurable with loam, herp derp. I no longer know what to drop, It would have to be squee or goyf.
Honestly I think Seismic Assault is a better win condition and is a bit more versatile than Zombie Infestation. Not only is ZI more card-intensive but it isn't as direct as SA, the only pro I can see is that it's easier to cast and can possibly buy you time with blockers but if you're discarding two lands for a blocker chances are you're F'ed anyway.
I mainboard a couple Volcanic Fallout to deal with Geist of St. Traft and Affinity game one. There is a third one in the sideboard just to help sure up the numbers for those matches. I haven't had too much of an issue with Restoration Angel or Finks. They are annoying but nothing our burn suite can't handle. I haven't had to play against Kiki-Pod though. So I don't know about interacting with Resto in that match up.
Has anyone else been testing Deathrite Shaman? I've tested a pair over Worm Harvest and Siphon Life and it has done absolute wonders against W/U Rest Angel.dek
Yes! I started with just a B/G loam deck with shaman and then decided I didn't need red. It ended up turning into a death cloud deck, but whatever.
Deck seems wonky on paper but in my testing the swans combo has performed way better than any aggro loam build ive tried. Doesnt really need swans but its great against control and aggro. Treasure Hunt is exttemely powerful and has been the all star for me. Cant decide if i want to cut birda but having a few does help you power out your pieces. I have some great matchups and theres not a whole lot i feel threatened by. abrupt decay and thoughtseize are tough to play through but i dont seem to have.much of a problem finding another assault. i dont think this deck would hold up against the more skillful players and more reliable decklists of jund, but i love playing it anyway. Most fun ive had in modern and magic as a whole in a very long time
Has anyone been having success with this deck lately? I played with it before after it won the GP for awhile, and I want to play it again now; however, I seem to be struggling to find a solid build.
I've been messing around with a different deck recently but I've played a handful of games with my RUG build. However, it is just against people at my LGS and on Cockatrice. So take it with a grain of salt but it seems to be doing fairly well against Jund. It has continued to have a good RG Tron match up. It holds it own against random brews by just sheer card advantage. Affinity is still a problem but I have some sideboard tech in Hurkyl's Recall that I'm dying to test but I never seem to see it against them. Ancient Grudge is probably better but I like the idea of bouncing their entire board mid-combat. Combo decks in general haven't been too bad but UR Twin has given me the most trouble out of the archetypes recently but it's not unwinnable.
I've had a lot of success with it but I'm still testing and tweaking. Haven't really seen the Izzet Charms despite running 3 of them. But it's been pretty spicy when I have seen it.
Anyways, I'm running on like three hours of sleep and am in a rambling mode. So I'll cut myself off before this turns into a huge wall o' text. In short, I really like the versatility of RUG right now and it's been working for me. It's definitely a fun and solid deck.
I'm currently looking to build my first true Modern deck, and this felt like a nice underdog deck that fit my playstyle. I'm on a bit of a tight budget (no Tarmy, Bob, or Liliana for the time being). I like the idea of Loam Pox; does that sound like a viable option?

Also, is Bitter Ordeal reasonable as a 1-of? And what are the absolute essentials for a good manabase?
I think this card has potential, but it depends on how much card recurring your deck does outside of loam. If you're running a build with any number of Eternal Witnesses, it gets much better.

Here's what I got so far:
In the manabase, I was thinking of adding in a Haunted Fengraf for a bit of reach. Is this a good or bad idea? Thanks in advance.
