I actually think if we're open to splashing that Despark is the most exciting card in the set aside from Davriel. It's a single card that simultaneously deals with both leyline as well as the card advantage walkers that give us trouble like Jace and Teferi with a bit of utility in being useful against some creatures. I've played anguished unmaking in the past when I was splashing white and I think that this is generally going to be better when we want it, although I'm unconvinced that boarding to go after the leylines is ever going to be better than delirium skeins which was the direction I eventually settled on.
Despark is bad, this is Modern, people dont want to play expensive cards here. Its dead 90% of the time
To be honest I can’t tell how you managed to simultaneously respond to my post while also not reading my post, I’m impressed though.
Leyline of sanctity is a card we have splashed white for disenchant specifically to deal with. It is a card that sees play in the modern format of magic the gathering (TM) which we have to deal with. The fact that it has added utility against Jace and Teferi as well as hitting everything relevant from Tron (which is a horrible matchup) makes it worth considering. Your glib response that 4CMC cards don’t see play in modern is either trolling or just a sincere lack of familiarity with the format, but either way it’s not particularly helpful.

Reactive removal sets you behind against planeswalkers. Any planeswalker deck is going to be a bad match up, there's not much fixing that. And trying to out control the control deck isn't the way to fix the match up. The best plan against them is thoughtseize + a fast clock before they can top deck another one.
Killing Leyline is a plus but if it doesn't also kill chalice then it's probably not better than disenchant.
Disdainful stroke is good because it stops planeswalkers from activating unlike despark. Roughly half the relevant cards at cmc 4+ are planeswalkers.
What do you think about silent clearing ? My first impression is that it can be good because we need some card draw and exchanging a land that we don't need in a long game for a threat seems good. But I'm also afraid about the damage. Maybe we can include 2 or 3 copies?
What do you guys think?
Woww! That's right! I didn't realize this interaction with Urborg! This could change the amount of these lands, we will have to test them. And yeah, I mentioned silent clearing and not nurturing peatland because of the artist, I also love the art from Seb McKinnon.
I just got into 8-Rack (or 10-Rack as it's being called now???) and was needing help with sideboarding. Does anyone know where I can find a relatively recent SB guide for the deck? Any help is greatly appreciated!

"We splashed white to deal with Leyline of sanctity" is not true. Maybe you splashed white to deal with Leyline. My long stance is that Leyline isnt even a big problem. It introduces inconsistency to opp deck (keep bad hand but with Leyline, topdeck Leyline, mulligans and Leyline itself cost a card), I can win Leyline with the right half of my deck without sideboard and I have tools in my monoblack sideboard to deal with it.
People splashed white because it provided different tools. Stony Silence, Lingering Souls, Disenchant and maybe others. Disenchant not only deals with Leyline, it destroys artifacts and enchantments which we otherwise cant. With Chalice being one of the major concerns.
I just saw Dead of Winter in the modern horizons spoilers. What do people think about using that as the new board wipe for 8 Rack? It may be better than Bontu's Last Reckoning as a 3 CMC sweeper.
I am considering Dead of Winter, and maybe even tossing in the new Astrolabe cantrip artifact just because it cycles and powers up the sweeper. And of course we all get our singleton of nether spirit now.
Or at least I was considering these until Defile was spoiled this morning. Now I am all sorts of confused because smallpox works a bit counter to these for us.
I think without smallpox Defile is almost a strict upgrade to fatal push, and Dead of Winter may be a better option that Last Reckoning, but with smallpox I am torn since it reduces the effectiveness of these cards.
There is also the question of running Frostwalk Bastion if we go full snow, which could be an upgrade over vault and is still a snow card. The deck couldn't afford scrying sheets though, and I don't think were getting much anything else snow that's gonna matter.
I'm of the mindset that letting your opponent have their lands is not necessarily a bad thing in some matchups. Let them play crap so you can get value out of your removal, which in this case becomes better because you have more lands in play.
Wow I missed Nether Spirit reprint, that should be great with Racks maybe becoming a strong deck again
I dont think Dead of Winter is good, I tend to play with Mutavault, Urborg, Swamp, discard all other Swamps, play Mutavaults. Flaying Tendrils, Bontu, Damnation all are better than this. I dont see much payoffs for some snow build which replacec Mutavault and Urborg to be better. Even with all snow thats more of a standard power level wrath. Defile same
I think deck's concept is weak right now. All these decks that WANT to have some cards in the graveyard.. Usual card advantage game doesnt apply to them, so 8Rack is not functional against them.
I just wonder if that following Throne of Eldraine card coudld be played as a one or two of :
Castle Locthwain
Land
Castle Locthwain enters the battlefield tapped unless you control a Swamp.
T: Add B.
1BB, T: Draw a card, then you lose life equal to the number of cards in your hand.
It brings a draw mechanism at reasonable cost.
controlling a swamp seems not a problem.
What do you think about it ?

It can help you a lot. Is a bit old, and need a update, but you can start from there.
