Really enjoying reading the resent success of everyone running their builds. Such a fun deck to play and it feels like the last two sets have really raised the bar for us. I’ve considered running Ranger Captains but they’re pretty expensive at the moment to justify testing. Maybe next month or something. I’m also still on the fence having taking out my PWs for my latest iteration but I’ve been on such a hot streak at the moment it’s hard to justify putting them back in. Right now my main deck looks as below:
Brought Back has been a positive inclusion for me and definitely altered the way I’ve sequenced plays, although I’d argue it’s been for the better. There are times when I’ve saved a wrath knowing I could leverage greater value by chumping and returning my creatures or even returning them post board clear. Would be interested in hearing any other testing opinions

I've been playing Brought Back since it came out. I do like it, but I have a hard time evaluating when / what matchup it should be cut in. This is because it's situationally good in a lot of matchups.
Obviously it can't be great in every matchup. That said, I've had a lot of success with it across a diverse field. i.e graveyard strattagies, control, combo, mid-range, and aggro. I think it played best against the aggro and mid-range decks, for me.
I haven't seen people cut missionary for cleric, that seems like a mistake. I think cleric is still good enough to merit 1-2 copies in the main as dodging exile is pretty nice and it gives us some decent game vs storm, phoenix, dredge, etc. Right now I'm wondering if I even want to change my current list because I've been doing pretty well even though I teched for Hogaak and never actually faced it.

would like to thank fincown for using Winds of Abandon. Got me to also test two in the main, at first it feels like a worse path to exile. However, it is actually a versatile removal. Can be used early when I'm under pressure. Or overloaded later for a one-sided board wipe. Games go long, so we usually have 6 mana to pay for this mid-late game. And lastly, it also helps soulherder get counters faster.
if anyone wants to write a sideboard strategy on playing against Hogaak Vine, please post it here.
I will add it to the primer, and credit you as contributor.
Thank goodness too, without the mill option or their deck becomes much less scary.
Also, thank you for the kind words The Fluff. Your right, Winds of Abandon is a nice flexible removal spell but most of it's power comes from being a Plague Wind that exiles.
I used to have Blessed Alliance before trying Winds of Abandon. The problem with BA is that there are some creatures that don't want to attack.. Devoted Druid, Grim Lavamancer, Dark Confidant, Thing in the Ice. Winds of Abandon got rid of those creatures just fine. And as you said, winds of abandon turn into plague wind in the late game. We can cast titan, so we can certainly overload the winds.

Primer update!
Added Fincown's mono W list that reached 5-0 to Unorthodox lists section.
Added Ranger-Captain Eos to alternate card choices.
@The Fluff I completely agree, one of two things I knew mono white archetype needed to be successful was additional low cost unrestrictive targeted removal. I've tried testing Blessed Alliance, Declaration in Stone, and Celestial Purge in the mono white deck and they are all good in their own right but they either too restrictive or come with a heavy drawback. Although, I could definitely see an argument to playing them as sideboard cards, depending on what you expect in your meta.
Winds of Abandon was somewhat of a best case scenario and a definite upgrade, I just wish that you could cast it at instant speed. I may try it as a 1 - 2 of in a UW Emeria Shell with Teferi, Time Raveler for just that.
Also, although I'm kinda swamped with work at the moment I did manage to get in a couple games on magic online. I qued into the new build of Hogaak Vine and it seemed much less scary. Kinda like an aggro dredge deck with less reach, I won an easy 2 - 0 but I'm not sure how familiar my opponent was with their deck, nor how experienced a player they were overall.
considered declaration in stone as well, but allowing an opponent to draw cards is often worse than giving them land. Also the plague wind mode of winds makes it better in breaking board stalls mid-late game.
With 4 path and 2 winds of abandon. What I'm trying now is to add in two Aven Mindcensor to the main, prevent opponents from searching for land. Mixed results, sometimes it's useless against decks that don't search their deck too much like Burn and Humans. And sometimes the aven cripples people who are fetch land heavy.
I've been playing On Thin Ice for a while now and it's been okay, not amazing but not terrible either. That said, I've recently taken it out to make room for Blast Zone in the main and also give myself access to an extra sideboard slot to test with. I'm testing Generous Gift at the moment but haven't draw it in post sideboard games yet. I was thinking of Dispeller's Capsule before I realized that Karn by itself would stop me from activating it. I kind of wish that there was a 1/1 creature for one, with a sacrifice ability of one mana tap it and sacrifice it to destroy an artifact or enchantment. Also Bounty Agent could actually be playable if it could hit planeswalkers.
I’m actually going to try out Fincown’s mono white version at fnm tomorrow. I am going to do 4 lone missionaries in the main instead of remorseful cleric
So I played another league and got absolutely wrecked by the karn + lattice lock. I qued into e-tron twice and mono green tron once. Everything else went well Brought Back was especially potent against MGT. That baby karns static ability shuts off my clue tokens from Thraben Inspector is especially brutal though.
When e-tron gets popular I generally switch back to UW because my match win percentage has always been way higher against them. However I'd want to include two copies of Force of Negation to my sideboard. The problem is I didn't realize it was so expensive, over 30 tix for a situational counter spell.
@Titan_allday
I hope you enjoy your games with it! Let us know how you do!
I'd definetly prefer Gift to Growth, it is just 1-more mana but hits everything so it is worth it imho.
I generally find it easier to deal with Karn than with Lattice though.
Force doesn't seem good enough for the deck as there aren't enough blue cards to pitch to it and exiling them isn't great either.
Why do you want it ?
BtW, how does your UW list look nowdays ?
I haven't found many new additions from recent sets for the deck besides Teferi, Time Raveler (but it is so expensive now that I'll wait before getting it).
Yeah, I'm trying Gift as a two of in the side right now.
So I had wanted Force of Negation to round out my Tron / Burn matchup. I've found myself playing fewer Gideon of the Trials and Lone Missionary as of late and felt like I needed more cards for the matchup. In both matches you usually keep in a number of the blue cards in the main plus bring in more from the sideboard.
My UW list is a work in progress but it looks like this for now.
In total I have 13 Blue cards pre board and should have 16 post board vs control / tron / burn. Not sure if that's enough to justify force either, I'll look into it.

So I think I got to change up my sideboard and add + 2 Sundering Growth or go up to two Generous Gift, as an instant speed answer to Mycosnyth Lattice. I'm leaning towards Generous Gift but would love to hear your thoughts!

Maindeck 60
Creature 18
3 Lone Missionary
4 Wall of Omens
1 Phantasmal Image
4 Flickerwisp
1 Champion of Wits
2 Court Hussar
3 Sun Titan
Instant // Sorcery: 8
4 Path to Exile
1 Winds of Abandon
1 Wrath of God
2 Supreme Verdict
Enchantment: 8
1 On Thin Ice
4 Spreading Seas
3 Detention Sphere
Artifact: 1
1 Crucible of Worlds
Manabase: 25
1 Windswept Heath
1 Prismatic Vista
4 Flooded Stand
3 Hallowed Fountain
3 Emeria, the Sky Ruin
4 Field of Ruin
1 Prairie Stream
1 Ghost Quarter
6 Snow-Covered Plains
1 Snow-Covered Island
Sideboard: 15
3 Tormod's Crypt
1 Lone Missionary
2 Stony Silence
2 Dovin's Veto
2 Damping Sphere
1 Sorcerous Spyglass
2 Gideon of the Trials
2 Force of Negation
I have changed it a bit, I'm testing On Thin Ice and Winds of Abandon and have sideboarded Gideon of the Trials because of this. Force of Negation may just be a Dispel or Ceremonious Rejection not sure yet. Only three pieces of graveyard hate because I've found exile based removal better against UR Phoenix.
Other changes
- 1 Irrigated Farmland for + 1 Prismatic Vista
This is to have access to more Snow-Covered Plains on one for On Thin Ice
In total I have 13 Blue cards pre board and should have 16 post board vs control / tron / burn. Not sure if that's enough to justify force either, I'll look into it.
