4 Bolts by Turn 3 is Christmas land. I've had it...like once against a Breach player.
Most people are on 4 Serum. h0lydiva played Ben's list and hated it, while pulling a 5-0 on UW Miracles last night so.../shrug
I've had the nuts on Breach, far far more than UWR, and I've played it a fraction of the time.
That's really odd. I expect the nuts out of Breach more, but it just hasn't happened. I believe it's "sample size" right now. As for Jeskai, I play a lot of decks, but that draw with Bolts has happened to me now 3 times by 3 different players and only when I was on Company. It may have happened more than that, but just with me on a different deck, so who knows? It could have been more?
You gotta understand - I love playing decks that have insane draws. It's part of what attracts me to Grishoalbrand. This is one of those decks that I've seen. If I saw insane draws by Soul Sisters, I would be attracted to that. So far, I've never felt like playing that since 2012.

Legacy - Sneak Show, BR Reanimator, Miracles, UW Stoneblade
Premodern - Trix, RecSur, Enchantress, Reanimator, Elves https://www.facebook.com/groups/PremodernUSA/ Modern - Neobrand, Hogaak Vine, Elves
Standard - Mono Red (6-2 and 5-3 in 2 McQ)
Draft - (I wish I had more time for limited...)
Commander - Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build) (dead format for me)
I have had the feeling of 'omg my draws' in UWR once honestly. If you are all about those busted hands..did you see the less consistent, more explosive Bloo? It's like normal Bloo but with Tainted Strike, Baubles, and Become Immense..just silly.
I did actually buy the commons and uncommons that I needed for Bloo, but did not play it yet. Maybe I will try soon, but PPTQ season is starting.
I guess part of the "busted" draws that I've seen just line up well with what's going on with my hands too. I had an amazing hand vs. Jeskai in the last tournament and beat him in Game 1, but it didn't go my way in other games. It's tough to mulligan with Company, but sometimes you have to assume that you'll draw 3 more Chord of Calling before the other 20 lands in the deck. Probably just had rough luck against them.
I just want to be that guy firing 4 Bolts at my opponent's creatures and see the drool come out. It's part of the reason I run Turns as well.

What is the consensus on Surgical in the SB? I really want to devote two slots to it, but I am finding it harder and harder to justify lately. Seems like no one is running it in the popular / successful builds.
"value surgicals" ie taking a card out of their deck other than a combo piece, are awful and a huge trap a lot of people fall for. Surgical is only good when you can cripple a combo deck or trade it for a card in their hand. Without access to discard spells, that is often difficult
Yeah, I think I am leaning the same way you are... Sure, it feels awesome to field a tron land and then surgical it away... but that is not easy to set up.
Back to back 5-0's on friendly leagues right after I come back to this deck that I love.
Some small notes from the last 10 games
1) There is a LOT more valakut running around which is pretty good for us. I've been stealing game 1's by being aggressive with snap casters and game 2 and 3 are basically cakewalks if we land Runed Halo
2) I HIGHLY recommend 2 runed halo in the sideboard, it puts the breaks on decks we usually have trouble with. Storm/Ad Naus/Valakut. It's even good enough for other matches with limited wincons and whatnot.
3) Engineered explosives is also a must in the SB, it kept me from losing to spirits which was the closest game I ran in all 10 games but killing 2 lords and a rattlechains all at once was HUGE.
4) I thought only running 2 sweepers would be terrible but I was not at all, it feels just right for the deck.
5) A lot of matchups involved siding out Path to Exile, since the majority of things die to bolt anyway that are early games threats and it worked well.
6) Baneslayer Angel is super awesome and the game either swung back my way or outright stopped my opponent once it landed. It necessitates a path or a terminate and not many decks run either.
7) I'll be honest, I dodged Tron all 10 games and that's the worst MU for this deck but I feel like the leverage I have over the other decks in the field make up for it. I added damping spheres to the SB, and another clique to give me the ability to race cause playing the long game never worked.
I like your side plan; both games (first two matches of a league last night) I played a turn 2 Stony only to see it get immediately claim'd... feelsBadMan
In the hard control version of the deck, I gave up. Feels too terrible to even bother. You MAY get someone with Alpine Moon, and then Geist out of the side, but its an absolutely terrible match up.
With 2 Alpine Moon 2 Damping sphere I've had moderate success, but it is still an awful matchup mostly since you're almost guaranteed to lose game 1
Make sure you have a proper way to clock them, I love Gideon of the Trials for this reason, together with two cliques in the board. Take out grindy cards zince you're not outgrinding them. Most of the time dont bother stopping their tutors for lands, although it might be correct if you can kill them in two untaps and/or they missed land drops, no absolutes in mtg
I actually haven't had a terrible time with the matchup against tron. Between Damping Sphere, Field of Ruin followed by a Surgical Extraction, and some well timed Cryptics, it seems to work out. Also, getting hella aggro with Snapcaster Mage doesn't hurt.
