I had trouble even with the white leyline. I'm not so much worried about their discard spells; it's those damned counterspells Stubborn Denial and Ceremonious Rejection that I'm mostly worried about. They just have so many varied answers that it's difficult to handle all of them.
I completely agree. It is the fact that they have 1 mana counters, discard, artifact removal, snapcasters for flashing it all back and a decent clock on top of it.
MU is hard, but not impossible. I have like 10 total games VS GDS so not nearly enough for enything conclusive.
Time to overloard them with Thopter-Sword, perhaps? From the Tezz side of the Bridge we do just fine against them, if they counter your Sword (lulz) / Foundry / Bridge you can still lean on the other pieces you've got, and you can also bait them on countering your Whir of Invention at the end of their turn to untap into the clear. And also our targeted discard helps punching through.
So, I guess, takeaway: overloading their answer is real. Thopter-Sword beats them.

MODERN Blue Lantern, UBx Tezzerator. OLD SCHOOL 93/94 «The Pain Train» Black Sligh, Esper «Machine Gun» Artifacts, Jund «Psycho» Ponza-Disko.
Relative new comer to Lantern and magic overall, started in february of this year, decks i own in paper are consist of Ad Nauseam,CoCo Allies,Burn,Mill, and Eggs. Working on building eggs in paper, and i wanted to ask, hows main deck Leyline, i know the benefits, good against discard, burn, other random things, so you dont get blindsided game 1, but is it run 4 or dont run at all, or run 2?
Still working on a sideboard, i moved down on the a thoughtseize from 3 to 2, since sometimes the 2 life was relevant in my testing, or should i run the 3 thoughtseize in the long run?
and is running the mechanized production and aether grid main, bad?, feels nice to have a faster wincon/alt wincon maindecked, since i come from playing ad nauseam, or it messes with consistency here?
and are spellskites still good md? or even board? or are have they fallen out of the lists?
The leylines are great and I bring them. The 4x stubborn denial and 3x ceremonious rejection + surgicals goes a long ways to stall the bridge. As I said, resolving bridge is what it is about often timesz
magus of the moat dodges both of those
circle of protection black dodges rejection but is a lot more narrow
i'm on a 1 of cop for now until my magus comes in the mail, i'll keep you updated on the results but i tend to really enjoy the grixis matchup, it's classic jund and somewhat dsj that i really fear.

do yo uside out some bridges for magus of the moats? against DS? magus is still hittable with fatal push?
Against GDS with a Leyline in play and no Bridge in hand and Codex Shredder is the only graveyard recursion in play do you mill yourself to dig for Bridge and keep from loading their graveyard for Delve? Also with a Pyxis in play in that scenario do you only activate Pyxis in an emergency to keep from exiling your own Bridge without knowing it? Obviously with a Lantern in play you have a lot more information.
After game 1 I have Grid to kill them but game 1 I have to mill them out. I played GDS twice Monday night and won game 1 and then lost in both matches, but I'm not sure my strategy was correct. Any guidance on self-milling considerations would be greatly appreciated. I'm playing the hand disruption heavy variant with a playset of Leylines, and considering putting in a couple Noxious Revival in the sideboard.
Also has anyone suspected they exiled their Aether Grid(s) late game and activated Pyxis and been able to kill their opponent on the spot after the permanents enter the battlefield?
Diversifying our "threats" could help out in a number of ways. There are very few cards that can deal with both Bridge and Magus (the ones I can think of are Thoughtseize, Maelstrom Pulse, and Detention Sphere). Having two very different threats that do essentially the same thing means that our opponents need to diversify their answers, making it a lot easier for Lantern to "split" their deck to only keep them off answers for the wrong threat.
Sure, Fatal Push kills Magus, but it does nothing against Bridge. If GDS sides out a Ceremonious Rejection for a Push, we're going to rejoice; that's one less thing that kills Bridge.

I can't imagine they keep fatal push in post board, pretty sure those and terminate are immediate swaps for ceremonius rejection
Once mine come I'll run some games with it, I'm still a bit fearful of building lantern on mtgo due to salty opponent's trying to clock me out of spite
Thanks @canister, very helpful post! It's been awhile since I played Lantern and I needed to hear those points, especially the Stony Silence case.
Grid felt good against GDS post board because I could kill something to remove Stubborn Denial's Ferocious trigger with it on the stack and if they get too frisky with their life total I could punish them. One opponent prioritized it over Bridge with KCommand when they were both in play, which I thought was a mistake at the time but I still lost that game.
- If the opponent is likely, or you know, that they brought in graveyard hate, such as Rest in Peace, Relic of Progenitus, Nihil Spellbomb.
- If the opponent's typical build includes Scavenging Ooze. Also, there are some decks that run Relic main.
Isn't that assuming that we're going to have our recursion online before they have their Ooze, etc? I suppose it then comes down to careful calculations. For example, if we're at 4 lands with a Shredder out, and we have 11 lands (including Opals) left in a deck with 43 cards, whereas they have a deck with an average of 3 Ooze and 41 cards in deck, we are more likely to draw land to use Shredder than they are to draw Ooze to stop Shredder. That's very case-specific, though. That doesn't even touch whether that's our only mill rock in play, if they have access to cards like Collected Company, Dark Confidant...
That's actually how I approach the whole issue. What are the specific chances in the specific game that I'm playing?
Lantern on the SCG invitational right now. Super spicy list, Magus of the Moat and Phyrexian Metamorphs as fun-ofs in the sideboard. Concealed courtyard and basic island mainboard. https://www.twitch.tv/scgtour

I'm trying a bg only build that drops leyline for more brutality and spellskite. Working right now but I'll post the list later with some analysis of my games.
Sry for the double post but also for those who have trouble with their bridges getting extracted. Remember you can always surgical your own bridge in response and fail to find the others.

Adrian Sullivan went 8-0 in the modern portion of SCG Invitational and played standard well enough to get in to the top 8. Tomorrow he'll battle in the top 8 which will be modern.
