i added a maybe board to all my current builds. this is a list of five individual cards that are meta includes, depending on what i feel might be heavily played at individual tournaments. basically a sideboard for tournaments. i think it is an important concept for the grinders out there. you can find links to the new lists in my signature.
You might even call it a "metaboard". :3 I completely agree with you, a metaboard is extremely important to have for anyone who wants to go to a tournament with this deck. Tuning for a tournament just before it begins is an excellent strategy.
I carry my Lantern deck in two deck boxes. The first deck box has my double-sleeved mainboard. The second deck box contains my sideboard, followed by a sleeved separator with my sideboard list on one side and Mesmeric Sliver on the other, followed by my metaboard. This is just a collection of ~80 cards i keep with me at all times in case i need to make some last-second changes to my decklist after doing some scouting and investigating the meta. My metaboard contains all sorts of tech, some of which i'll list here:
This sort of adjustment capability comes in really handy. For example, maybe put an Extirpate in the side in a Tron and/or blue-based control meta. Maindeck Sunbeam Spellbomb if everyone's playing Burn. Bring in Nephalia Academy versus Jund, or Dispatch / Galvanic Blast versuz Zooicide or other aggressive creature-based strategies.

yeah i wanted to limit it to five singletons that weren't in the deck already. that way i could really change things up and it will still fit in a standard 80 card box.
So I was able to do some work on the spreadsheet today. I finally figured out how to get it to automatically count up the number of games with 1 Lantern/1 Rock. It turns out that hands with that combo are (as I suppose could be expected) positive indicators for wins.
A common request that I've heard since this deck got popular has been about budget builds. I don't know that this is the place for it, but with the information above and from seeing a build or two in the past where people went with 4 Shredder/4 Bell/4 Pyxis builds and did well, that might just work out. I thought about it yesterday (before I saw the data) and just figured that it might be better to simply play a UB Mill deck, but with this data, maybe it could actually be something. I would expect that some number of Noxious Revival might do well here, too. I would imagine that having a Bridge would still be important, and I think I'd be wrong to suggest otherwise, but I think this could be of some help for people who really want to play Lantern but are stuck to a budget. I'll see if I can do any more work to help on that front.
In other news, I've lent my Lantern deck to a friend so he can play it in an upcoming tournament. He's never really piloted the deck before, although I did run through some games with him with my gauntlet metadeck (metadeck.me is a great resource for that!). He did very well. I gave him the link to the spreadsheet and the Youtube channel as well, so hopefully he gets a good amount of info and does well at the tournament
So, I'll be going to play in my Open this upcoming weekend and am still rushing to rework my build, and I really want to bring in Cranes again. In addition, I think Grid needs a spot in the board with an uptick in RW Control and Abzan(Stonies). I'm running 3 GQ's mb(for Tron/Valakut), which should probably go down to two, but I'm unsure of what land to add. Should I put in a Botanical Sanctum or Burnwillows if I'm planning on running 2x Crane and 1x Grid(sb)? Or 2x Spires?
Lastly, I've been testing hard this week and threw in Heroic Intervention as a 1 of sb out against EE's/sweepers. It. Has. Been. Stellar. While it doesn't really play nicely with Bridge, since we have to hold it, the matches where sweepers are more prevalent don't typically run 1/1 critters. I had two back to back matches where it saved my bacon against EE and then Fracturing Gust. Depends how risky you think it is to run, but I have found it to be extremely valuable. Just my .02
It's an intriguing idea... I should try one in place of my sideboard Duress.

So, funny story. Just tried out a silly Bridgeless build of Lantern using the data from the spreadsheet. Both games locked the opp off of mana, opps ragequit game 1. It might actually work. It's kind of nuts. Going to record and upload the videos tonight.

You're pretty much in the exact same spot than me. Look at my list a couple of posts up. A split of 1x Sanctum and 1x Spire has worked out just fine hardcasting cranes and even SB-ed Leylines of Sanctity on time. If anything, the 3rd GQ made some hands hard to keep, it's probably going out to the SB again in favour of a colored land (ideally Tendo Ice Bridge style). Also thinking about testing the third Crane in place of the singleton Bauble.

@Kerotan1989: That's a decent hypothesis, given the data. Having an opening hand with a Bridge does actually have a net negative win % correlation. It does mean that there would need to be some other way to stop creatures. Maybe reducing the number of Bridges even, I don't know. I could definitely see the benefit of Opals in that build. Maybe it could work with four Cranes instead of Stirrings to account for no Bridges, +4 Glimmervoid, +4 Spire of Industry, +4 Opals, +X Surgical, etc. The Revivals were awesome, too, so I think I'd want to keep them.
When building the deck, I did notice that I forgot about the Dredge matchup. I would probably want to tweak the sideboard to account for that, as otherwise that could be a very bad matchup.
I have heard that a lot of pros have been trying battle at the bridge as a one of. I'm not a fan of most sorcery speed removal spells. I think collective brutality is more versatile, even though it cant kill fatties and isnt massive lifegain, its never a dead card. What do you guys think.

So, I have been running Thnkr's list since he posted it back on page 286 and I have to say I am impressed with how much easier it is to stabalize the early game with 4x Brutality. I don't think I'd ever want to have less than 3 in the main board and, to be honest, I don't think I'd ever not want the 4th in a game 1 scenario, especially with the rise of burn and affinity after the bannings. I know a lot of people are praising Bauble right now and I can see why; I was playing Kanister's version up until I saw Thnkr's, but in my opinion, Thnkr's is the superior list in the current meta.
Based off what i've gleaned from other websites, looks like he did, but i'm not sure what.

... Now that i think about it, anything that we would want to counter (Ulamog's cast trigger, Ingot Chewer or its ETB trigger, Qasali Pridemage, Echoing Truth, etc) would be hit with Heroic Intervention. Heck, it'd even solve the problem of Shattering Spree being replicated all over the place.
It's an intriguing idea... I should try one in place of my sideboard Duress.
