So based on this it looks like the prior sideboard published on Goldfish that you shared a couple of days back: +1 Leyline +1 Abrade -1 Echoing Truth -1 Pact of Negation, which is consistent with your feedback in posts the last couple of days.
Going forward I am gonna take the last pact out of my SB , never wanted or beeded to bring it in. Gonna try something else in that spot. Also debating trying 14 lands. Cutting a heath and going up a visions

I hated 14 lands even with the additional control. It creates lota of problems outside of the mulligans issue. For instance, you really want two basics due to the prevalence of Path, Field, and Quarter. We also want painless fetch targets in an aggressive metagame. But then we need those basics to cast Paladin, so we're sort of stuck at 2 Plains. This ensures there is no combination of drawn lands that can't cast Paladin. Thing is, once we settle on 2 Plains, we now have 2 lands (and a higher relative percentage of our manabase) that can't cast our cantrips or the new Assistant. This creates new issues and I'd be really hesitant to drop to 14 lands as a result. Even the fastest, highest velocity decks in the format are typically in the 17-19 land range, so 15 is already pushing it.
Also what is everyone's thoughts on defense grid in the board?
Very bad. Nonbos with Retract (same with Spellskite). Silence is my go-to spell for stopping interaction and permission.
Agreed I just beat grixis control boarding in 3 silence 2 grid. Silence timed correctly is all you need imo.
Also there is no chance I’d go below 15 land. Most games I lose are already do to no land in the openers and having to mull. I have won keeping 0landers but it’s really tough.

Yeah, Silence is spectacular. The only deck it's bad against is GDS and other Stubborn Denial strategies, where they get a 1 CMC hard counter to Silence and then a 1 CMC removal spell to answer your engine. It's also sometimes not enough in protracted Ux control situations, where they can Knot a Silence and still have Path/Bolt plus Snapcaster for another two answers. But mostly, it's enough to get there.
Grid, however, is not the card we want. It's only okay at preventing them from countering an engine, but once you Retract, the shields are down and we almost always won't have mana to re-cast Grid and still Retract (especially on a T2/T3 combo turn). This means a subsequent Retract can get countered, or an engine killed. Not the end of the world because we probably drew a bunch of cards already, but I'd so much rather have Silence. Also, some opponents will board in Grudges and artifact spot removal to kill the Opals with Retract on the stack. This can definitely hamstring us if done early in the combo turn without a lot of draw, especially if we already binned an Opal for whatever reason. In those situations, Grid plays right into the artifact removal.

Fwiw this was in the Zac Elsik sideboard that earned this deck some serious popularity about 2 years ago.
That doesn’t mean it was correct by any means lol.
With jeskai/jund uptick I’m thinking of going 4 Leyline 4 silence 3 truths 2 grid 2 path for my sb. I feel like this just lets me bring in cards I absolutely want in my matchups.
So need help finding a good 15th card for my SB. My current board is
3 leyline
2 aether grid
2 silence
2 forge tender
2 echoing truth
2 path to exile
1 abrade
1 ???

I would add the third Silence. Jeskai and Ux seem like they aren't going anywhere. Nor is removal-heavy Mardu, and Mardu can't even counter Silence so it totally stops their removal suite. Then again, Mardu is a Leyline deck and it's tricky to SB in 6 cards without diluting the gameplan. Wear/Tear is also solid as a 4th way to answer random permanents if you're worried about Chalice and Stony Silence.
Here's a better question: what decks/cards are you most worried about losing to? Modern is the "pick what you lose to" format, so that's where I like to start my SB planning. We also know we're probably never boarding out more than 5 cards, so we'd never want more than 5 cards for any given matchup. I feel like that SB has enough for Humans, BGx and Mardu, and prison decks. I also feel like the linear decks can just be raced with +2 Truth or whatever to handle their random hate. But the Ux decks might want a 5th card beyond Grid and 2 Silence. That could be the 3rd Silence, which is where I'm still leaning.

My mind keeps coming back to displacement wave not just as another retract but... as a weapon.

Ahh, the good Grid. Whoops! Yeah, Aether Grid is beastly in that matchup.

I came across this Budget Cheeri0s and would like some advice if I could go for that first, before I transit it to a non-Budget one.
