Very interested--especially as I'm just about to buy the last two remaining duals that I need for ANT--so I can follow your posts on the source and ad nauseam here...
R1: beat Wilted Abzan, fairly easy matchup as they don't run much discard, just SB in Haze and not Leyline
R2: beat Grixis Twin, he tapped out for Cryptic on my Unlife for some reason and I won
R3: beat merfolk fairly easily. Slow-played a Gemstone Mine till I could go off since I figured he had spreading seas
R4: drew with Jund, split the two games we played
R5: drew with Grixis Twin, won in 2 games for fun
T4: 2-0 vs same Merfolk guy
Not really much to say or go into in detail. The player base wasn't that great and I drew very well all day. At this point the list is fairly solid and I wouldn't change much. The deck just plays great and I feel is so underrated and is Tier 1.5 as long as Infect isn't popular.
I've been thinking about building an Ad Nauseam deck, should I start with a Bring to Light list?
Bring to light is not played in ad nauseum. I would not suggest trying it either, the deck is consistent enough already.
I think epdt's and vismal's BTL lists have something to offer. They at least deserve a good hard look.
Builting a BTL list as a way to start off playing the deck seems a little silly. While promising (which I've been saying for a while and still haven't gotten around to), there isn't really an established list. Just play spoils list and add a few cards later if it ends up shaking out to be superior, its not much of an additional investment ( a few COBs and BTLS).
There is a online player who has been tearing it up online lately. Just in December MTGpulse.com has 2 4-0 Daily reports and 1 5-0 League report for him. I am sure he's likely got more under his belt but they don't report every event. At any rate this is his list and I really like it. Also the bobble I think is quite clever, allows for us to run only 1 storm Maindeck and just has some cool utility.
Spoils of the vault has not been super great for me, and his deck just runs really smooth, It's also more resistant to blood moon with both fetches and basics main. I really hate Dreadship reef, I think I am definitely going to try out his mana base.

Bauble isn't anything new, it's a must in the non-spoils version as it allows you to only run 1 Lightning Storm and it cantrips.
I played this version of the deck for like a year(without the Pyretic Ritual, that card sucks), and it is better against control and Abzan/Jund because of the Teachings and Tolaria West fetching for Pacts/Bosieju. The list is a lot worse against the fast decks of the format as the Spoils version is much more explosive.
So I run the spoils version with the standard manabase, are the 2 basic plains really necessary to have in the deck? I don't quite understand what we accomplish with them, since we don't fetch and path to exile isn't a thing against us, not that we'd want to shuffle our library.
Could I replace them with more temples maybe? (Temples of enlightenment) or even another land?
Hmm, I'm just not sure about it, I mean, searching and shuffling is not something we wanna do with the deck. But yeah, I think they're worth keeping for now.
So my local Meta his hosting it's first "Modern League" event. Modern is the primary format played where I live and we have around 30-40 players. Generally FNM is around 18-24 turnouts. Anyways as this is our fist League we're doing 10 rounds (5 weeks, 2 matches per week) and they allow us to be ahead up to 1 week as well as behind up to one week.
Today was the official kick off and there was about 20 players at the store, this was my first time ever piloting Ad Nauseam. Up until now I have basically just watched some footage (Such as @Togores games) and goldfished. I actually learned so much just gold fishing the deck.
Anyways I had time for 4 matches today (so I am one weeks ahead) But I am 4-0 so far.
Game 1 Vs RUG
He's a good player and the matches were not easy, but timely Phyrexian unlifes and drawing Pacts when I needed them won me this game. I also made a fatal flaw in game two which caused me the game, but ultimately got the win in game 3.
Game 2 Vs U/B Faeries
I know this opponent well and his deck inside and out which gave me a huge edge, he was definitely taken aside with what I was playing, (we have no ad nauseam in our meta and I typically play Twin or Storm) These games were super close Counter spells backed by hand hate and a reasonable clock thanks to BB. But I was able to squeak out the win in game three due to his Misplay. (He has two Spell stutter sprites in hand and a cryptic command.) He went to attacks (he had lethal on board) So I went to go for combo, he chose to Counter Ad Nasueam and Bounce the Unlife with cryptic, But I had a spoils to dig for pact, had he chosen to use a sprite he would have been able to counter both spells.
Game 3 Vs BW Eldrazi.
My opponent usually played Grixis control, so I was kind of happy to see this matchup. Game 1 he didn't really draw his hand hate and I quickly won. Game 2 I didn't draw any of my SB hate, but I had a great hand with combo + a couple lands, serum visions & Lotus. (Mulled to 6) I scryed another lotus and kept it on top. He IOK's me turn 1 taking my lotus, which I promptly slam another off the top, He did thoughtseize me twice nabbing two Ad Nauseam but my deck was being nice and I ripped another off the top a few turns later for the win.
Game 4 Vs Burn
My opponent here is a bit newer to the game so I was pretty comfortable sitting down, little did I know his friend lent him burn for the League. Game 1 was Super close, but I was able to combo off at with 1 life remaining. Game two I didn't see any of my SB cards but I kept a reasonable hand. I was able to cast a Leyline on turn 3 but he proceeded to play two more creatures shutting me out of the game fast. Game 3 was super close again, I had the unlife on board with two angels grace in hand. He bolted me EOT which I responded with Angels grace to keep my health at 1 to buy me another turn. He had Double swift spear and goblin guide. He bolted again to reduce me to 0 and swing for 6, and I drew spoils off the top for the win.
My take away from this so far is that this deck is actually really fun to play. I am sure most of my opponents didn't enjoy it, but it's actually really fun. There is more play to this deck than meets the eye. And I certainly learned a lot and made mistakes but hey that's how you get better.
TLDR: First time playing the deck currently 4-0 in a 10 match local League tournament. ~ only 4-0 atm
Yes echoing truth or wear/tear, unless you are playing titan/phatty out of the board or maniac.
counterspells beat memoricide also duress out of the board.
Drown in sorrow has seen a bunch of play in this deck but the one mana fog effects are generally good enough to stave off the aggro matches for long enough to combo.
You beat Memoricide with Leyline of Sanctity. The Eldrazi deck plays discard spells, so those Leylines are coming in no matter what.
Also, remember that you can win even if your ANs got extracted as long as you have Laboratory Maniac, Spoils of the Vault and Grace/Unlife. Just name a card that isn't in your deck.
Uh, heck yeah! Especially if you record and we can watch whenever or even rewatch.

Isn't echoing truth needed to beat pithing needle naming lightning storm, unless we win with laboratory maniac
How do you beat cards like memoricide from the eldrazi decks?
wouldn't drown in sorrow be viable for decks like affinity, thalia, guardian of thraben, gaddock teeg, exc.
