I agree that 4 is too many, and without Serum Visions to help smooth early draws, I think Explore is too unreliable. I've been happy with 10 ramp spells, but if I were going to add more it would be Farkseek.
I run 4 Farseek and am quite happy but I have thought of switching 2 for Explore. If running the "transitional" sb I would side out some number of PTD as we're bring in more non-instants and sorceries. Depending on build it may be better to be mixing it up and/or running Sleight of Hand and Telling Time.
I really feel like Explore is one of the better ramp cards for this deck. It helps you dig and ramp at the same time. I always feel like I have extra land to drop playing this deck too, so it seems like a good choice.
Primeval was good, but not incredible. Of the 8 games I brought him in, I saw him 6 times, cast him 4 times, and he won the game for me only once. The problem is, once the opponent sees Prismatic Omen, they leave in answers and it wasn't the game changer I had hoped. That being said, he did Slaughter Games Scapeshift a few times, so having a backup plan was nice, but I don't know how worth the SB slots it was. Rude Awakening won 2 games post Slaughter Games, but it needs to be drawn pretty fast.
The normal SB, I tried Shadow of Doubt again, and everytime I drew it, he didn't draw Games. I did hit his t1 fetchland once, but afterwards he simply cracked it before I had mana up. It's a good card, but it's underwhelming a lot.
I'm going to be sticking with the normal SB, though I'm torn between Spellskite and Vendilion Clique at the moment. I'm also considering finding room for a Mindbreak Trap.
*Edit*: I wanted to run 2 Obstinate Baloth, but couldn't get them in time.
I drew it 3 times, Peering for it twice. If it weren't for Peer, I wouldn't run it. The one game it didn't win, he had me at 2 while he was at 16 and 4 freshly cast Lingering Souls tokens. He blocked what he had to and swung with 2 tokens the next turn.
Rules question, if the opponent cast Bloodbraid Elf, casting Mindbreak Trap would still cost 4, as it doesn't count itself, correct?
He means Liliana can be hit with Lightning Bolt as well. However assuming she +1's against us, she will be out of Bolt range. That being said, I have used Bolt to delay her ult before.
Guerilla Tactics is pretty good in that regard. However I thing obstinate baloth is better.

The interesting thing about us legacy players is that we consider Force of Will, Dark Ritual, Blood Moon, Tarmogoyf and Swords to Plowshare to be fair.
Why has Prismatic Omen fallen out of favor in the RUG decks? Is it just win more?
I wouldn't say win more, but it's not needed in a lot of lists. With Primeval Titan it has some power, but in the slower Cryptic Command lists, it's just a bad ramp spell, to me anyway.
This is what Im running, Im always trying to improve the list anyway... Im done with Infect, there is no Infect on my local store, and I dont see much of that deck lately. So No sudden shock or bolt. I think Im having an hard time with uwr delver, at least some times I do have.
What do you guys think about our uwr Delver match up?
PS: I really hope Simic Charm is good enought to fit in the deck
I like the list, but I really don't understand the 3/2 Split of Peer Through Depths and Telling Time. Do you need to find land with your dig very often?
As for Delver, I find Pyroclasm is very good against them, and Combust is a fine SB card that does work in a number of matchups and it's great at killing Delver. Other than that, be wary of Spell Snare on early ramp. I find after that, it's an easy match.
I like Spellskite, but he's narrow. I've switched him out of my list for Obstinate Baloth to help with Jund/RDW and haven't looked back. If you expect Infect/Twin however, he's a house.
That's interesting, haven't seen Gifts before. The pile is just Scapeshift, Snapcaster, Revival and whatever else, right? I also like the Alt win condition in the side. Have you tested this much?
So I am trying to get together cards to play this deck and I wonder, how many and which fetches dose this deck need? Obviously scalding Tarn and misty rain forest are the fetches of choice but how many and is their a preference? they are the biggest hurdle to me playing this deck so I would rather only buy what I need. I have only 1 misty. Being a mostly black player I spent my time trying to get black fetches but as an ex-valakut ramp player I really want to play this.
From my experience, I like Misty Rainforest better than Scalding Tarn because Misty gets basic Forests. (I'm starting to wonder if I should still preserve a 3-1 split or just go with 4 Mistys.)
I use four Misty, even though I own a set of Tarn, we run more than enough mountains and so few actual red spells. Besides Misty can grab Stomping Ground or Steam Vents if necessary.
I'm running Dismember over Combust, not sure if this is correct though.

Liliana of the Veil on T2 is horrid. I beat Slaughter Games a few times, I never beat a T2 Liliana once.
