Some thoughts after looking more carefully . Not sure about hunting wilds with only 1 breeding pool ! Liked the 2nd mountain with the amount of ghost quarter or/and field of ruin in the meta ! not sure for the 2nd farseek , isn’t a 4th bolt or 1 EE MD better ?
1) It can't fetch Jace
2) The mana is worse than 3 color builds, which means it's more susceptible to blood moon and land destruction. Drawing plains, hallowed fountain, temple garden and/or the wrath is the worst feeling in the world.
As a long time player of BtL, I don't think that BtL not fetching Jace is even the slightest problem. The biggest problem IMO is not fetching Detention Sphere. The mana is rough, sure, but it's really not that hard to play around Blood Moon if they're not casting it on turn 1. I'd dub the mana "good enough". I'm not sure whether or not it's worse than RUG vs actual Land Destruction as I've not had the opportunity to play the matchup yet. As much as I loved RUG for a long time, I'm not sure Jace actually made it better than BtL.
As far as interesting bits of that GP Phoenix list, Destructive Revelry sideboard is SPICY. Against Affinity, it lets you do a 7 land kill, which could be the difference between winning and losing, similarly with Lantern. It also has the versatility to blow up a Blood Moon or something from Bogles. Definitely a well thought out inclusion, even if I'm not playing it.
Hey, everyone I have recently decided to pick up scapeshift in modern and make it my one and only deck, I was wondering if I could any tips or tricks the list I am currently playing is the one that came in 5th about a week ago played by Sung-jin Ahn. I was just wanting to know do you suggest BTL variant or RUG and maybe side-boarding tips and mulligan tips. Also do you prefer 1 snap caster or 2, and jace 2 or 3. I am really looking forward to playing this deck alot and any help I could get to make it easier would be awesome. Thanks alot for the help anything you could suggest would be awesome.
I've chatted with CJ briefly about his choices over the past 2 weeks, I'll be trying this list (give or take a card -- he wasn't 100% sold on the Obstinate Baloth so might try something else there, not sure yet) at Hartford so I'll be sure to report back. In limited testing so far it's been great, haven't missed Remand

Remand is for the decks with a “lights out” card like Blood Moon isn’t it?

Another question if your in touch with him : is only 1 breeding pool enough with 4 cryptic command ? and isn’t relic to clunky in MD ? thanks ! ^^
I think his more aggressive lists are probably better than the control versions I've been sporting around for the last forever. I agree Remand is in a terrible spot right now. Relic also seems like it would be the opposite of clunky: It's semi-disruptive, and cantrips at the worst. Seems good to me.
Hey, this is CJ. Glad you're enjoying the list. I've been less and less enthused with Baloth by the day, I swapped it for a 4 scapeshift for the time being, just to lower the failure rate even more, and make the deck even more resilient to thoughtseize and thoughtknot seer. Could be wrong, may be too many threats, but it can't be any worse than Baloth.
Moved the 4th Baloth back to the board, and cut the colossus. 4th scapeshift should help death's shadow matchup a bit anyway, and let's be real, BTL for colossus was never going to resolve anyway.
I posted a quick Q&A over at Reddit.com/r/scapeshift, where you can look at my thoughts on common questions.

Unfortunately, I just don't think that's a realistic plan. If you're remanding blood moon, there's not a lot to stop them from just recasting it. Not to mention, you really really want to be ramping on turn 2, not holding up Mana for a spell that may or may not be worth remanding.

So the manabase is pretty close to air tight in my opinion. (Although I could definitely be sold on a 4th stomping ground over the cinder glade.) Here are my rules for the Mana base:
2 valakuts, 10 mountains at leat 2 of them basic for ghost quarter.
At least 3 basic islands for cryptic maindeck bloodmoons.
A way for Misty, the ramp spells, and hunting Wilds to search up every color.
As many green sources as you can fit to reduce Mulligans as much as possible in this 9-card combo deck.
That being said, if you really want to, you can cut a basic Forest for a breeding pool, but I think you're just dealing unnecessary damage to yourself, and making it harder to beat blood moons. If you are ramping on turn 2 like you are supposed to, I don't think cryptic is that difficult to cast by turn 4 or by turn 3 with some sacrifices. That's a decision that needs to be made in context of course. The extra ramp spells do a lot for color fixing and it's important to not forget that.
Relic is less clunky than remand in almost every matchup, except mono green Tron, and there the farseeks help enough there that I'm ok with the exchange.
