Against Bant Eldrazi the way I have been approaching it is this. If they go turn 2 thought knot its just something they do; and Im probably not going to win when that happens. Otherwise the matchup is pretty good for us. Cryptic really shines here being able to tap their team or even counter a spell and bounce thought knot to draw a card and slow them down (although that is a pretty situational play). Really though just being able to Cryptic turn 3 onwards is really good vs them. In my experience the games are always very close, but we can normally win a turn before they kill us.
On Prismatic Omen- I run 4 after trying 3 for a little while. Although the 2nd copy is almost always dead the card is so good I want to see it every game. To mitigate the extra copies it is a good idea to run a couple izzet charms to occasionally use the draw/discard mode. Prismatic gives us a fantastic late game in those games where scapeshift or Prime Time just isnt coming up. I cannot count how many games ive won just by playing land drops and bolting my opponent. It is also very good for keeping the opponents board clear of important creatures. I always enjoy pointing a valakut trigger at a master of waves or etched champion and then explaining to my opponent that valakut is colorless and pro anything doesnt help. It also makes Blood Moon far easier to work around- the last played enchantment is the one that affects us so an omen after a Blood Moon gives us perfect mana again, even if its the other way around we can still tap basics for any color. Also as previously stated, the omen makes us consistently faster, increasing the number of turn 4 kills that come up. And one more use- jamming a turn 2 omen vs any control deck means we win, as long as a valakut comes up. Resolving a 4 mana spell against control can sometimes be pretty tricky, but they have no way to interact with every land drop being a bolt.
The list Ive been running for the last several months is at the top of page 168 in this thread. Ive had very good success with it in my local meta, which is very competitive, and and went 5-4 at GP Dallas (it was my first GP so barely missing day 2 actually felt like a win to me). The only changes ive made lately are running a Spellskite and an extra Anger in the sideboard replacing the Krosan Grip and the Izzet Staticaster.
I am thinking of switching to Bring to Light Black as my scapeshift variant of choice for the newly spoiled Fatal Push. I dont think its the absolute tier placing deckbuilding decision, but I do enjoy playing scapeshift as a control deck. Is there anyone thinking along a similar axis with the new cards being printed?

I did for a bit, but it doesn't make sense if you're looking to play it over like Lightning Bolt. It's too much of a strain on the mana. We naturally play 10+ red sources, with BTL Black you have maybe 4 black sources at most?
If you go deep into the 4th color, you can't play Cryptic Command.
Concerning Bolt and the new fatal push by extension, my win percentage has gone up overall since I dropped them entirely from the deck. It took a while for me to come around to it, but we need our spells to do things that advance our gameplan. Things like izzet charm and electrolyze that can help us find the win have been a lot better for me than bolt. The one common matchup where it hurts is infect, but even with bolts its still bad, so I just hope to see my sideboard in game 2 (and hopefully 3).
Agree with the above. RUG Scapeshift is my favorite deck which I rocked a long time in the Pod era and I'm optimistic about the meta changing in our favor with the printing of Fatal Push. I've been testing the following list on MTGO over the past week and brought it to Modern night yesterday, going 3-1:
Yesterday I beat Jund twice (2-0 2-1), Blue Moon in 3, and lost to Infect in 3. My MTGO testing has been generally positive as well with mostly 4-1 and 3-2 finishes. Infect is obviously bad and so is Burn, but I think Dredge is very winnable (close to even) and Grixis/Jund are positive. If Infect sees reduced play at all with Push and Grixis/Jund/Abzan go up as many are predicting I think this deck could be a real player.
im playing a BTL version with black splash, im maindecking 3 titans (used to run 2 but didnt see it as often as i'd like), 12 ramp pieces (4 STE, 4 SfT, 2 explore and 2 farseek). im actually thinking about playing asuza as a 1 or 2 of (probably 2) instead of either explore or farseek. sure the manabase hurts more than RG titanshift but it helps control the early game fairly well while ramping into either BTL/scapeshift or titan. and once titan lands we can even win off valakut triggers and beats. its really nice having the plan b there and makes things a bit more difficult for the opponent to deal with. Im thinking of increasing my bolt and izzet charm count to 3 and adding a copy of roast. Having the extra burn/removal/looting means we're constantly moving towards killing our opponents rather than sometimes having a bad hand and bad topdecks and not being able to do anything significant for a turn or 2.
just my 2 cents, wanted to say something since there doesn't seem to be much discussion here anymore!
Just my two cents on Azusa in Scapeshift....
If you're going to play it, play Crucible of the Worlds. That combo is simply amazing and really hard to beat if it sticks. If only one half does, they're generally passable on their own. It does encourage 27+ lands though. I've not done extensive testing, but it seemed fine. I just don't own copies IRL or I'd probably know a bit more.
EDIT: Also, this was in RUGw BtL Scapeshift, with white splash coming from a single Temple Garden and either 3 or 4 Horizon Canopy (which was absolutely amazing). The only problem was dedicating slots to Azusa and Crucible. I can't find my old list atm. It was from about a year ago, just before eldrazi came out.
Additionally, thinking about it now, I feel Prismatic Omen shift could be a better shell, or Omen + BtL or something. Now I wanna look into this again
Thanks a ton, now my time will be even more crowded than normal....
I'd imagine it will. The format should slow down a notch since now fast decks are a lot less capable of going all in.
Finding space is definitely rough and I'd imagine that it would end up being almost your only ramp, perhaps with some number of Steve and Search. Explore does get better with crucible at the least.
Reedy26 before you try mixing together Prismatic Omen and BTL- you cant actually cast Omen with it as BTL is restricted to creature, instant, or sorcery.
Yes I would say "everything's coming up Scapeshift" in terms of the banlist changes as well as likely changes to the metagame. The most worrying thing I would keep an eye out for is an increase in Ghost Quarter being maindecked and possibly more Fulminator Mages in sideboards as a reaction to Tron or TitanShift but to be honest these are some of the least bad options in terms of hate for our deck. As long as we don't see Crumble to Dusts and Slaughter Games being run in large numbers I think this deck will take a big jump.
I've had a solid win rate against tron so far (around 60%) so I'm not worried about that. Definitely Crumbles and Games are something to worry about. Glad I've not run into Slaughter Games yet.
I myself have a %35 win rate against naya burn at around 40 matches. Compared to infect which is %42 win rate. I try and tailor my board to it and still lose... WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!?!?!? ..btw I am playing a bring to light version comparable to current setup.
I'm pretty BtL has a much worse matchup than normal RUG. Something I've seen if burn is expected is running a few maindeck either Obstinate Baloths or Kitchen Finks/Courser of Kruphix.
So, I kinda just forgot that I had 4 scapeshfts + all the peices in my binder and I forgot this deck was a thing. Well Ive found where my modern deck will be for a while.
Ive tried it and goyf doesn't really compliment the deck very well. You just make yourself vulnerable to removal spells that might otherwise be dead cards while having a card that tends to be pretty medium without the proper backup. Not a fan but it has been done and there have been modest results. With the printing of fatal push I imagine this problem only gets worse. I have toyed a little with thing in the ice and its a better two drop IMO. It can provide another crypticesk effect. You can still block with it early game and it compliments the goal of this deck a lot more.

That is quite low as BTL, could you post your list and sideboard plan? I'm running around 60% win rate against Burn on MTGO myself with BTL.

If burn is giving you trouble, you need to go up to 4 Baloths- maybe dropping the shatterstorm and the back to nature from your board to make room. You have a ton of spot removal so shatterstorm doesnt seem super important, and cryptics and maelstrom pulse take care of the problem enchantments so its kind of unnecessary to run the back to nature.
I have seen a bring to light list ditching cryptic commands in favor of Lightning Bolt and the full set of worldly council in tournament results I saw from japan, and I am testing something similar (with cryptic in the sb because I am not that crazy). The list also had 4 farseek with both black and white splashes for a Supreme Verdict in the main and Slaughter Games in the sb (lack and the slaughter games may be preferred with damnation to make things easier, but that remains to be seen). I think this is something that will produce some good results until the meta fully stabilizes for scapeshift, so I will see how this does at my next testing meetup (should be tomorrow) and check back in

If you are not playing the full four Cryptic Command you shouldn't be playing this deck. The best reason to play blue Scapeshift is turn 3 CC and when that isn't good it's time to look elsewhere. Part of the reason BtL is (imo) not the way to take this deck is that it make playing CC much harder since the deck gets way to clunky.
As far as burn goes, what's a good SB piece of burn-specific hate in RUG? I play the full 4 Baloths and a few copies of Dispel but might consider adding another card. We can't really play Feed the Clan, is there something else?
